  Almost done with the world map for Xenospore! 🎉 Took way more time and brainpower than I expected, but it’s finally coming together.No more boring level select menus - progress freely, pick easier or harder levels as you go, and save tougher levels for later!Clean the map of infection, choose your next path, and uncover hidden secrets.Levels can be easily previewed and each level has a unique & thematic name.Feels like it really turns the game into an experience, not just a bunch of puzzles.   Initially I didn't want any undo mechanics. My goal was for players to feel the pressure of the Xenospore's ruthless spread, and I was worried that an undo feature would take away from that experience.However, a couple of key things changed my mind:Player feedback: Several playtesters found Xenospore quite challenging and felt that an undo option would help them work through the puzzles.Game design: Since Xenospore is a deterministic game, the Xenospore's reactions are 100% predictable once a player understands the rules. This means players can't abuse the undo feature to get new information. It simply lets them use trial and error to better understand the consequences of their moves.Horror Vibe vs Accessibility: Ultimately, I decided that while the horror vibe is important, accessibility and ease of use are more crucial for a better experience for a wider range of players. • I made some graphical improvements to Xenospore and it looks a lot better now! - 27 May 2025

  Hi folks! Xenospore is getting closer to release, and I thought I'd share some progress with you. I have greatly improved the art, removing black strokes inside the tiles and only left them as outlines, making the tiles a lot less busier and more discernible. Here's a before and after! This is part of the ongoing improvement to the game's look since I started working on it: I have also changed the CRT shader a bit - the game looks a lot brighter now. I made some improvements to the settings menu as well! More updates coming soon! 🥂
