- Devblog #9: Upcoming Content and Game Design Update - 7 June 2026
Greetings Titan Corp. Auditors I wanted to let you in on what has been going on behind the scenes with the new upcoming content update. The game lacks gameplay. It is a Roguelite at its core, where's the constant dying and pushing through more difficult levels? That's the question I'm working on to answer. All of the decisions you will read about will be worked on in the following weeks.Robotics vs AtomicsI've found out that players quite enjoy a lot more the whole process of killing enemies and going through rooms, clearing them out, as opposed to having to do tasks. Which is understandable, because when you have to stop to insert a fuel cell in a cooling-unit it breaks the flow of combat, which sucks. But thanks to all of you now I know this, and can ajust my game's core design around that!Which is why the next update will focus entirely on Robotics.I know I said I'd focus on atomics, bu…

- Devblog #8: Weapon Overhaul and Early Access Bugfixes - 6 May 2026
Hi everyone! Last few weeks have been hectic and full of work to address the new new content update for ProtonVR. I'll mention the launch in a later post, this is a devblog just to let you know what's up! What I am about to write is what is in active development and will finish ASAP to get it on your hands :) Weapon OverhaulThe weapons are getting completely overhauled to include some things I've wanted to add for a while such as:75% - Weapon Physics (collides with things) this also lays the groundwork for melee!100% - Smooth Weapon Controls (for those with shaky hands to help things feel smooth)90% - Friendlier/Snappier Bolts and Sliders (solves the crappy bolt-action rifle)100% - Virtual Stock (wanted to add this for a long time)100% - Developer feature: Cleanup the scripts to allow code to do the heavy lifting for me100% - A better bullet chamber system to add revolvers in the future…
- Early Access Version 0.1 - 2 May 2026
Hi all! Early Access is now live! Before I go down into specifics I want to address anyone that has not bought the game but is attentive to it, and likely wishlisted, I wish to set your expectations.Purchase the game only when you are comfortable with the state of the game. It's very Early Access, its 0.1!I'll rewrite what I posted on an earlier devblog before the (planned 25th Release, that went well...) State of the gameIt sounds cliché, but being Early Access, it does not either... I feel that the game is not ready for release. -> I did add an entire new gameplay-loop and an entire level to the game. The level ATOMICS requires you to perform a lot of tasks with machines in the level whilst getting shot at. I wanted to escape the archetypical "Enter Room - Kill Everything - Room Unlocks" loop. The reason I did that is cause it felt safe but in the end, I need to design the damn game no…

- Devblog #7: Game launch delayed to May 2026 (NOT two years!) - 29 April 2026
The game is releasing soon!I know the store shows April 2028, but that's a bug!Of all the things that could have gone wrong with the early access launch, the one I least expected was to forget to set the app and store for review on time. Live and learn. As of a few days ago the game-build has been Approved!Only the store page is left to review. As a consequence of that the launch has to be delayed until I get the OK from steam on that front. I fully expect it to launch Early Access this May. I deeply apologise for this oversight, it's something I'll absolutely never repeat in future releases. In the meantime , work has been going on!Revamped the ROBOTICS level playthrough to remove the Lockdown system and have a smarter enemy spawning system, since that game-mode is solely driven on shooting enemies. (The map needs improvement though!)Fixed Ammo floating in the air when pressing TriggerF…
- Update: Review Issue and small launch delay - 24 April 2026
Early Access Launch Delayed:The release didn’t go live today as planned due to a last-minute issue during the review process on my end. That’s now resolved, and the build is back under review. The game will go live as soon as approval clears. ProtonVR is still expected to release for Early Access very soon within the next few days.Appreciate the patience, and apologies for the inconvenience.-Sam
- Devblog #6: Upcoming Early Access Release v0.1 - 22 April 2026
Hi all! I'm excited to share with you news of the upcoming early-access debug for ProtonVR! If you'll allow me, I wish to convey my absolute gratitude to everyone of you, throughout the many corners of the world, who have shown excitement and passion for this game I'm making. It's my first game, my nerves are in overdrive with anticipation of what will happen. Will I be able to see it through? Will players like it? Will it sell well enough on steam to make it through to Meta and Pico? On and on goes the mental hamster running in it's little wheel... So many questions and so few answers, so... f#ck it, lets launch the thing and get to work.State of the gameIt sounds cliché, but being Early Access, it does not either... I feel that the game is not ready for release. -> I did add an entire new gameplay-loop and an entire level to the game. The level ATOMICS requires you to perform a lot of…
- Devblog #5: Early Access Release April 25th! - 12 March 2026
Hello everyone! Before I get down to showcasing bits of the two new levels. I want to share with you theEarly Access Release Date!!!ProtonVR is officially available on Steam Early Access on April 25th GMT +1 (Lisbon Time)This is an important day due to the fact that is also a special Portuguese National Holiday that marked the end of a long dictatorship and celebrating freedom. I find it appropriate because I too wish to celebrate freedom from doing what I love in life: Which is making videogames. So lets celebrate freedom together! And play some ProtonVR!Updates on the current work-in-progress levels:To manage some expectations: I'm aiming for the next-demo to have a single-level and some of the available weapons that you can play now will be locked. But most bugs are to be fleshed out and combat should feel much better. The Early Access version will have two levels to begin with and all…
- Devblog #4: Next Fest, 3000 Wishlists and EA Release Date - 4 March 2026
Devblog #4 - Post Steam Next FestHi all! Phew, that was a week and a half of work, panic and awe. But it was so worth it! As it turns out, ProtonVR was one of the best VR performing demos in it's imperfect and buggy state. The game brought in the attention and curiosity of so many.... In fact, for a solo dev to practically reach 3000 Wishlists is AMAZING! But this also increases the pressure somewhat, and quite necessarily: I want to do a good job for all of you! Before we head in to brass tacks, allow me to get a little personal with you, my players. As most of you may know, I'm just a passionate guy doing my own thing. There have been doubts that the whole solo-dev schtick is a marketing gimmick, which it isn't! Short of posting a selfie of my handsome self, I'll opt instead to share with you the entirety of the workspace that represents my studio Torstein Systems (I am self publishing).…
- Devblog #3: Steam Next Fest Demo Update - 23 February 2026
Hi all! New demo has been updated with some cool stuff! Check it outAbout the current development stage:Before I talk about the new stuff for the demo, I just want to share that this has been super fun but also quite challenging. It would be an understatement to say that I've never worked so hard for something in my life but every minute of it is worth it. It may seem that little content was added for the game, but making content is easy, but It all goes to waste if it is made for a badly-designed game. Which is something I can only fix if I heavily rely on player feedback, I keep placing emphasis on that fact and I always will. After I know 100% I've made the foundations for a fun game, only then I'll start adding content. (which there is not a lack of ideas lol)Lets cut straight to business:1) New Level Design PhilosophyOld level design was messy and not very well thought out. New one…
- Devblog #2: Alpha Demo Feedback - 11 December 2025
💥 ProtonVR Devblog: Post-Alpha Feedback & Path ForwardThank You, Community!First off, a massive thank you to everyone who jumped into the Alpha Demo build, played around, and provided invaluable feedback!Your support has been incredible. With little to no dedicated marketing, ProtonVR has gathered over 1,200 Wishlists! That is a staggering number, and it validates that we are building something people genuinely want to play. It feels amazing.I also want to assure you that I am always active and accessible on Discord. If my Steam communication is sometimes delayed, it is simply because I am laser-focused on development during this critical phase. A huge thank you for your understanding and for sticking with ProtonVR's development! Now, let's get down to brass tacks—the feedback. 🎯 Demo Feedback AnalysisPlaytime and EngagementI was honestly floored by the demo statistics. The median play…
- Devblog #1: Identity Crisis - 13 August 2025
Phew! These past few days were awesome, ProtonVR was first publicly displayed to the world and the feedback was great. Welcome to the first Dev Blog where I will post up-to date information regarding the state of ProtonVR's development. Let's take a look at what happened so far.Reception & FeedbackOne of the biggest feedbacks from the internet was on Reddit. I want to reach out to all those who sent kind words of encouragement and excitement for the game, it's awesome to see people excited for something I'm putting so much care to. Thank you.Your input is most valuable and a lot of people joined the discord and are actively making cool suggestions and the dialog for smart-decision making is happening! But there is something in the comments that sticks out like a sore thumb...Comparisons with COMPOUNDAs I've been forward about it many times, ProtonVR takes inspiration from COMPOUND, that…
- Trailer Released! Now what's next? - 11 August 2025
Hello all! That's was a fun edit! I hope this sparked some intrigue in you! Yes, you! I want to reach out to all who want to actively participate in the development of ProtonVR, the early stages of a game are very important to know, as a developer, if I am moving in the right direction with all gameplay features, difficulty, progression and overall combat. But without a strong, united community this is impossible, but I am also excited to share with you the amazing things I can build to make this game of ours (believe it or not I also love the game I am making), truly awesome. How can you help you ask?Simple: Join the Discord and say hello!Discord Invite LinkFor now, baby steps.
