  ChessRogue v0.862BUG FIXESThe enemy AI's last move is shown, so you can see how you lostPlayer pieces can now move through stairs, like enemy pieces. If the player tries to move on stairs without king, it will deselect instead of skipping the players turn.Higher valued pieces are now more rare to appear in the random pieces for Black Mode.In Black Mode, player bishops always spawn on alternating black/white tiles.If the player has above the maximum amount of pieces in Black Mode, they are given the option to remove pieces from their army. Removing a piece from their army counts as adding a piece, so the piece shop selection will close.

  Hello! This is the changelog for ChessRogue v0.861. First, I would like to thank everyone who has played and given their feedback. This update was possible thanks to you.BUG FIXESThe enemy ai will now no longer skip turns. Enemy pieces will move each turn even if their moves are all bad.There is now a "Press to start" textual display, after placing all pieces in White Player Mode.The enemy ai moves are again highlighted as they used to be in previous versionsThe price of pawns have been changed to 10 from 5, as their state in ChessRogue is more powerful than a regular pawn. Guards have been changed to 5 gold, as they are the weakest piece in the game.Game descriptions in Piece Shop are now accurate for each game mode.   Hello again! A small but consequential update.PLAY AS WHITE UPDATESince Play as White mode is more difficult, the interlevel piece shop has been reintroduced. Every black piece you capture in Play as White mode has a gold value. Each time you complete a level, you will be given the piece shop, which is controlled via keyboard controls, which can be re-mapped in the \ screen in the bottom left of the main menu.KEYBOARD CONTROLSThe game can now be controlled with the keyboard. You can select a tile and choose where to move your piece. This is still early, more controls will be introduced, including gamepad and steamdeck controls in coming soon.Thats all for now, hope you enjoy the update!

  In celebration of selling 100 copies, here is ChessRogue, v0.858!This update has tons of bug fixes and updates, but here are some major game changing ones! This update was mainly based on ease of access for the player. Getting into the game, playing quicker, quicker resets, etc. CHESS AI SPEEDThe previous version of ChessRogue had python handling all the calculations for determining enemy AI movement. It's now handled by Rust and enemy turns are now significantly faster. Eliminating a massive bottleneck for player enjoyability! NEW GAME MODE - PLAY AS BLACKPlay as Black is a new game mode where you control the black pieces. The difference between Play as White and Play as Black is that as black your pieces automatically placed for you at the start of each turn. Also, captured pieces remain after each level.
