- Kickstarter Page & September 2026 Dev Update - 5 September 2026
KickstarterThe Kickstarter pre-launch page for SCAVENGER ZERO is live now.If you're interested in supporting the game, please go follow the Kickstarter page. There will be tiers as low as $5 CAD, with any pledges over $15 CAD getting access to the game's Beta. (Weekly in-development builds that will be released leading up to version 1.0.)The Kickstarter campaign itself will be launching on October 5th, alongside the game's updated demo.Company UpgradesA couple company upgrade paths have been implemented!I think I've talked about company upgrades before in the past, but in case I haven't; in 0.7.0 you'll be able to invest scrap and marks into upgrading the Lavender Company building. These upgrades change the look of the hub world, and also give you buffs. As you can see here, there's 10 upgrades so far spread across two upgrade paths; the Break Room and the Repair Bay.There are three more…
- Important Update - 8 August 2026
Hey everyone, today's update is a very important one. Let's just jump straight into it.NextFest & The FutureMy main takeaway with the June NextFest Demo is that the game has a lot more problems than I thought it did, and I think it needs a bit more time in the oven.My initial plan was to release it in September 2026 using the funds I received in March, but I've decided I'll be pushing the release date forward into 2027 instead. And with the plan changing, I'll need to find an alternate source of funding to continue development. So, here's my plan:1. I will be creating an updated "DEMO 2.0" build, and I will release it in October.2. The DEMO 2.0 build will release alongside a Kickstarter campaign.3. If successfully funded, I'll finish and release the game by Q2 2027.If I had to give a rough estimate, I'd say the game in its current state is about 80% complete. The Kickstarter, if success…
- Demo Delisting - 24 July 2026
The demo for SCAVENGER ZERO is going to be delisted on July 28th. I originally wanted to keep the demo up until the 1.0 release, but so much about the game has changed over the last two months that I feel like it doesn't accurately represent the game anymore.I've spent a lot of time these last few weeks reworking, balancing, and polishing things based on feedback, so an updated demo will be released in October.More information on the updated demo and release timeline will be shared in the upcoming August devlog.Quick Edit: I should specify when I say "delisted" that I mean no new downloads for the demo will be allowed. If you have the demo installed, you SHOULD still be able to play it!Update: I contacted Steam Support but unfortunately couldn't find a way to delist the demo without revoking access from existing users. As of July 29th 2026, this demo will no longer be available. Sorry t…
- DEMO 0.6.1 Release & Development Update - 14 June 2026
I want to start by thanking everyone who provided feedback on the initial release of the demo. There were a lot of issues and, to a certain extent, there still are in this version...I've encountered a variety of bugs big and small, but most of the larger game-breaking stuff has been patched out and I've worked to smooth over some of the game's rougher edges. There have been major improvements over the last couple weeks. I am a lot happier with this build than I was with 0.6.0. Obviously; it's still pretty early, but I think it'll do for now.Kickstarter?I've mentioned a few times in the past that I might do a Kickstarter for the game to help fund additional things like more voice acting, art, combat music, etc. I'm still considering it, but whether or not I try to do it will depend on how the next few weeks go with the demo.(ie. If the game only gets played by like 30 people, there proba…
- Demo Hotfix 0.6.0.1 - 5 June 2026
So, fun fact! I've never released a game outside of Canada / United States. Today I learned that some cultures parse floats / JSON data using a comma instead of a period. If you were experiencing issues with long weapon cooldowns, this update should hopefully resolve these problems.I will continue to monitor and fix issues as they appear. Thank you for your patience.
- 0.6.0 DEMO RELEASE - 5 June 2026
Version 0.6.0 of the SCAVENGER ZERO DEMO has been released. Thank you for your patience so far.Making this demo has been tough. There are a lot of things in this demo that are unfinished or unpolished, and there's a part of my brain that looks at the package as a whole and says, "this should be PERFECT before I release it." However, if I didn't release the demo until it was perfect, it probably would've never been released at all. So, here it is now.It is very cathartic to finally hit that release button because it means:A) I can finally sleep at a normal time again.B) This is as bad as the game will ever be. It's all up from here, even though this demo DOES have a few problems I've identified by playing it myself over these last three weeks.... And I have done a LOT of playtesting.KNOWN ISSUES(As of June 5th, 2026)Some aspects of the game aren't very well tutorialized. The player learn…
- Community Discord & Demo News - 4 June 2026
Hello everyone! I've got some good news to share.Barring any delays, the demo for SCAVENGER ZERO will be releasing a bit later today, or tomorrow at the latest. The demo that will be released is version 0.6.0 of the game. It's still rough around the edges. NextFest begins officially on June 15th, so I'll be working from now until then to polish any issues that might appear. To set expectations for the demo, here is what it contains:Two weeks of game time. (Days 1-13 of the calendar.) A full run of the game can take up to an hour or more, completing everything in the demo could take 5-6 hours.60 Unique Items, Over 50 Mech Parts for customization. Not all sets are included in the demo!Over a dozen different weapons.A unique mission for each faction except freelancers! (They are the "failsafe" faction in case you burn your reputation with everyone else!)Three major bosses. (Some of these ar…
- May 2026 Development Update - 16 May 2026
"This is my rig, IUSTITA. In English, that translates to ''justice.'' For the longest time, that's what I thought we were doing at GalGov: protecting the star system from those seeking to hurt it. But justice is in short supply. What I was fighting for has been lost."Welcome back to another development update, Scavengers! It's been a while since the last one and I'm currently undergoing a LOT of crunch. Why? Well, let's recap some things that have been added, and what's coming down the pipeline.Working Towards A DemoI've registered SCAVENGER ZERO for Steam NextFest. This means there should be a playable demo in June, assuming I can make one by the end of the month. More details about the demo will be released when it's ready.Something worth noting about SCAVENGER ZERO's development: I'm the only one currently working on the game. Does that make the game a "solo dev" project? Technically…
- March 2026 Development Update - 28 February 2026
AquariusA planet with an extremely high volume of water and an unknown depth. Researchers from Quartz Station estimate that the oceans of Aquarius go as deep as 300,000 feet. The water pressure at that depth goes as high as 120,000 PSI, and no man-made vessel has been able to reach the bottom. One of the final planets planned for the 1.0 release, Aquarius, has finally been implemented into the game. Fighting underwater will impact mobility and--the deeper you go--visibility as well. But there are a lot of things you can find in the vastness of the ocean...March 2026 Development UpdateWith that out of the way, welcome back to another development update. I've been quiet since December because a LOT of things have happened. I'm going to go over everything in this development update.State of the ProjectI've talked a bit in the past about the game's struggles with finding a publisher, marketi…
- December 2025 Development Update - 20 December 2025
Another month, another development update. Today I'll be recapping everything that has happened between November and-... Wait, what's that?OH GOD, AN ORBITER!!!!!THE ORBITER has been added to the game! This is a SUPER heavy Automaton unit that appears on high difficulty missions, OR when you're taking too long in a lower difficulty mission. You REALLY don't want to be caught fighting one of these guys. They have rapid-fire lasers that will tear through even the heaviest of shielding.Pictured: A reverse-joint mech attempts to avoid incoming missile fire from a HEAVY DRONE!Social Media UpdatesPatreonDoes the screenshot above look interesting to you? Do you want to learn more about The Automatons, some more behind-the-scenes development? Well, you're in luck... I recently launched a Patreon for SCAVENGER ZERO!Daily PostsAdditionally, I've started making daily posts about the game and what…
- November 2025 Development Update - 12 November 2025
Time flies and a lot has happened. I'll be going over everything I've been working on between August and now.Pictured: The Quad Leg freelancer "Footsoldier" in a cold, snowy environment.SCAVENGER ZERO DemoMy plan right now is to have a demo of SCAVENGER ZERO available in Early 2026, or some kind of public playtest of the game. Over the next few weeks I'm going to have some of my friends playing the game for the first time. The current state of the Internal Playtest build is rough in some places. A lot of the content of the game is finished, but not properly integrated into the main progression of the game... OR the content is finished, but has a lot of bugs and potential blockers that I'm working to resolve.Pictured: Morrison bugging out in front of the bathroom mirror. My goal is that with the help of some friends and colleagues, I'll be able to easily identify what works with the game a…
