Ah, Autumn… Not too warm nor too cold, with its charming colours, relaxing sights, and nature-defying coffee flavours. Picture this: you are at your PC, enjoying a nice cup of tea and looking through the window. Suddenly, you see a red leaf fall from a nearby tree: reminded about the fleeting nature of life, you decide to have some fun and play a new video game. A bit of a stretch? - CD Projekt buys The Flame in the Flood developer The Molasses Flood - 23 October 2021
CD Projekt has bought The Flame in the Flood developer The Molasses Flood for an undisclosed fee. In a note to press, CD Projekt said The Molasses Flood will keep its current identity and will not be merged with existing teams. It will, however, work "in close cooperation" with CD Projekt Red, the developer of The Witcher series of games and Cyberpunk 2077, on "its own ambitious project which is based on one of CD Projekt's IPs". So, a Witcher or Cyberpunk game then. Read more
- Drake Hollow launches October 1st - 22 September 2020
If you are a fan of The Flame in the Flood, check out Drake Hollow, the next game from the creators, and get an additional 15% off for the first week! Wishlist it right here! Drake Hollow is a cooperative action village-building game set in The Hollow - a blighted mirror of our world - in which players protect villages of Drakes; the lovable, local vegetable folk. Either solo or with friends, players explore a dynamically generated and aether-swept world of islands to defend the Drakes from a menagerie of feral beasts, all while helping them to maintain their camps. Mysteries and rewards, as well as danger, await those curious enough to search every nook and cranny of The Hollow. Drakes are hungry, thirsty, and need a place to sleep. They can also - quite literally - die of boredom. Players will explore the wilderness and set up valuable supply routes to bring essentials back to camp, w…
- Drake Hollow is an agricultural fort 'em up from the creators of The Flame In The Flood - 15 November 2019
“Well, this looks delightful” I foolishly thought, watching the trailer for Drake Hollow , the next game from The Flame In The Flood developers The Molasses Flood. “Far less depressing than their last outing, innit?” Oh, what a rube I seemed when the shadow beasts attacked. There’s the dread we were missing. Announced at XO19 last night, Drake Hollow appears to a multiplayer horde ’em up blending Slime Rancher with Fortnite: Save The World in a forest packed with spooks and mooks. (more…)
- Twitch Prime's free games for February include Downwell, Dear Esther - 1 February 2019
Twitch has unveiled the line-up of games that Twitch Prime members can download and keep for nowt as part of their subscription in February: Dear Esther, Downwell, The Flame in the Flood, and Draknek & Co Puzzle Collection. It's a strong selection of titles, even if most have been around the block a few times. Enjoyable survival adventure The Flame in the Flood, for instance, has already been offered as a Twitch Prime freebie before. If you didn't snag it then, however, it's definitely worth doing so now. Developed by The Molasses Flood and released in 2016, it delivers a wonderfully atmospheric, and distinctly soggy, twist on the well-worn rogue-lite survival formula. The general gist is that you, along with your trusty canine pal, set forth down a procedurally generated, frequently tumultuous river, stopping off at the occasional island to scavenge supplies, and craft up useful items…
- Have You Played The Flame In The Flood? - 14 November 2018
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time… I really really really like The Flame In The Flood . I am terrible at it, rarely reaching even the mid stage of the river, but I love it. The flood of the title is one that has swept through America, swelling the banks of a regular river until it s a wide and treacherous one. Only small islands of safety are left – an old fish bait shop, a homestead, a patch of wilderness – and they re not even always safe. Sometimes there s a big angry boar or a starving wolf. The flame is you. And your little dog. (more…)
- Rafting adventure The Flame in the Flood is free today - 10 May 2018
Is it any wonder that people are struggling to sell games when everyone and their dog is just throwing lovely free stuff at us? This time, they even threw in the dog to sweeten the deal. Apocalyptic rafting survival adventure The Flame in The Flood is free for the next 48 hours (minus a couple) via the Humble store , and you should probably pick it up while the going’s good. (more…)

- New update released! - 21 April 2017
We’ve just released a new patch for The Flame in the Flood! Our main goals are to fix bugs, and alleviate some frustration and quality of life issues that people have given us feedback on. The main changes are as follows: Added Director’s Commentary: the previously PS4 exclusive director’s commentary is available for all. To enable it, you can toggle it on in the options screen. Fixed Save Loss: We identified an issue leading to save loss when attempting to continue. If you died during a process that advanced the clock (sitting at a fire, sleeping, docking) your save would enter an unreadable state, and checkpoints would no longer work in campaign. Achievement fixes: We fixed a number of issues with achievements failing to register, including Paleo Diet. Inventory: Added “discard all” option: For stacked items, you can now discard the whole stack at once. Inventory: Auto-sort items into…
