Bane is a turn-based, procedurally generated, sandbox RPG in which you control a group of heroes or join a party of friends online. Adventures are brief and dangerous; to survive you will have to be careful and clever. If you are familiar with table-top role-playing games, you will have little trouble picking up the simple dice-based skill checks that determine success or failure. Exploration and improvisation are at the heart of the game. A quick and easy-to-use mouse-driven interface enables you to interact with your surroundings in many novel and surprising ways. Characters in Bane have no hit-points. Instead a dwindling defense score determines how easy it is to get hit. Get hit twice and you go down. This means that combat is quick and tactical. It revolves around positioning, cooperation, and exploiting the weakness of your enemies. You cannot win every fight. Most combat is restricted to about 3 rounds. If you do not gain the upper hand by then, you will automatically retreat. This means you will have to find another way to deal with this hazard, or retreat from the adventure entirely with the spoils you collected.
