- Version 2.0.1 Update - 27 July 2026
Woah, long time no see! I've been having some serious life things that have made it very difficult to work on another update, but here's the first of a few I want to do.The Grippy UpdatePick things up! Put them down! Throw them! Throw them on the ground! Throw them at the grinder! Do it!New DirectionsFor the Massive Update, things took a much deeper, more survival direction. In retrospect, some of this is good, some of it is not so great. Going forward, I think some of the survival elements might get toned back a bit in favor of more fun design decisions. For example, I'm currently prototyping food prep minigames to see if that feels better to play. If you have a suggestion, leave it below! Also, let me know if the crafting grid is something you like, or is it just tedious?FeaturesLifting: if it can fall, bounce or tumble, you can now lift it with physics. This is separate than carrying/…
- Time Flow and Bug Fixes - 4 May 2025
Something I've been wanting to add for a while is time "snapping" where the time day system is naturally progressing until key points in the day, but stops until you choose to progress to the next time. For example, you wake up and can do whatever until midday, but time stops until you start cooking. This all allows for time and scripted events to be more predictable to the player (and for me to test). Patch Notes: - Time "Snapping" - Skewers aren't weird - Bowl recipes work again - More random bug fixes based on feedback
- The MASSIVE Update is LIVE! - 15 April 2025
This has been a major journey for me, and it's finally here! This build addresses almost all of the issues previously mentioned by customers, and comes with a ton of new content. As a side effect of this amount of change, no saves from the original will work. If you'd like to play the classic version, check your betas tab for "classic" and you can still play that with your original saves in place. ON TO THE NEW UPDATE! Originally codenamed the "hot potato update," this update is MASSIVE—essentially making it a new game. Intended to be done by January 1st, this became more than an update. It became an overhaul to make the game more than just the basic idea that it really was, and what I'd envisioned from the beginning. And that's why I went somewhat dark. I read your feedback and tried to turn as much of it into the game as possible. There'll still be bugs to fix, and I highly recommend…
- Coming soon: ACTUAL GAMEPLAY - 14 April 2025
Howdy chefs! Big news, the massive update is content complete! If all goes well, you should be seeing the brand new update for Wasteland Kitchen dropping very, very soon. We're talking days not weeks, so get your knives sharpened and ready! Some of what to expect: Settings! So many new settings to tweak performance and gameplay, way better than the tiny menu currently in game Keybinding support, one of the most consistent requests I've seen Performance seems to be a lot better in spite of more in the world A brand new intro and tutorial experience Customizable new game settings to make each run tuned to your preferences Explorable locations (with more to come) A fuller world, not just a bus and road in the desert, but actual shit Bandit, traps and roadkill spawn in the world when not cooking Loot! A full grid based inventory system and a world of containers to go through Crafting is now…
- Massive Update Almost Complete! - 15 March 2025
It's been a stressful yet highly productive few months. Wasteland Kitchen hasn't seen a public update in a while—not because the game has been dropped, but because it's been expanded, reworked and revamped in a every possible way. I've been in full crunch mode for a while, but in the end, I think it's been worth it as the game is now much closer to the original vision and has been shaped by community feedback. With the upcoming update the game will become something much bigger than before, a majority of complaints have been addressed and overall, the game has a massive increase in gameplay. Without spoiling the details before the official announcement, some of the new features include grid based crafting, a fully featured inventory and toolbar system (no more holding a single thing), a more explorable world, loot, health, combat, a real intro, keybinds, graphic settings, and so much mor…
- 12/7 Rat Squishing Hotfix - 7 December 2024
The object containing stat data was being garbage collected, making stat based achievements not pop properly. All stats should track properly and persist. A menu has been added in the pause screen for seeing player stats (currently WIP) in the top right corner. Click the cactus to see your stats!

A recent update to fix physics broke serving customers, sorry for the inconvenience! It should all work as expected now. Happy Holidays!
- Mini Update 2 is Live! - 25 November 2024
As planned, mini update 2 is live! - Achievements should be working now (patched a little early, but still part of this one) - Box Fixes - No more sliding (hopefully) - Changed the way items are actually stored internally - Input - Swapped a lot of interactions to be "E" by default instead - Partial gamepad support, more work needed - UI Changes - Inputs are now displaying on what's actually bound (prepping for keybindings) - System in place to show gamepad icons when using a controller - Balancing - Lowered pricing of shotguns - Little tweaks to physics on things - Partially implemented item placement, hold the throw input (g on keyboard) to attempt to place an item on a semi flat surface. Not completed, but it's in there in it's current state to make things easier to place. - Internal local stat tracking for future achievements and game logic KNOWN ISSUES: - Boxes are working better,…
