NewsletterDiscordIt's been an incredible month for us. We released the demo on Steam!!! Thank you so much for playing. It's been encouraging to see how much fun folks have been having with the game. And just humbling to see that the median play time is 54 minutes! Thank you. A few streamers picked it up and had a good time too. If you're curious, all their videos are linked in our Discord. We also submitted an application for the CODE grant. We've put in a ton of work to get Dream Team Supreme to where it is and we're realistic about how much work remains to get it to 1.0. Summarizing our journey and our plans for the application was demanding. I hope the grant assessors find it easy to read and a solid plan. With everything going on, the team at Big Adventure took the time to celebrate the release of the demo with some delicious Popeyes, followed by some pure Mando & Grogu fun. It's a go…

- Demo Drop Day! - 1 May 2026
Demo Drop Day! That’s what we said in November 2024 when we first put a build up on itch.io and let everyone give it a try. From the first user tests over Discord when we had to warn people that the cannon sound was way too loud, to having over 100 people play it at Armageddon, we’ve been loving the ride. It’s been so great to have you along with us. Thank you! And now for the news...Have fun and stay super!

Originally posted on 2026.03.18Playtest on SteamNewsletterDiscordWe've had a great start to the year. It's only March and already two playtests are done.We added a new tutorial, the issues we had before were never mentioned again. Just like real scientists haha.We added 50+ carts and I don't think we've seen the most powerful combos yet!Our journey to converting the game into Toystyle isn't done, yet we can see already see its impact. We're addressing how the piles and tooltips look and interact next, before tackling the reward flow. And we've only got one left monster to convert. Everyone is looking out and waiting for you, Gruff! Here's what's coming up further down the road.Early April: Wellington…
- Playtest open during Rogue Bots festival! - 2 March 2026
It's great to be part of a festival that is about Roguelike games and Robots. That's our niche! While we've got the Dream Team Supreme playtest going on during the festival, some of our collaborators have demos up or have released the game. Here are some that we're checking out during the festival.
- Rogue Bots Playtest 0.17 - 27 February 2026
Hello, fellow, scientists! We’ve got playtest news for everyone here..The next playtest will take place from 27th February to the 9th of March. We tried to make it much easier to jump into the game and learn what’s what. We also tried to remove the math players had to do to predict the sequence, so that they could stay within the flow of choosing the order of awesome things Super Supreme will do.A completely new introduction to the game and its mechanicsIt’s alive! Tons of new giant animations and SFXNo math! Numbers on cartridges change when slotted in the sequenceConcise descriptions and tooltips50+ new cartridges to play withAnd balancing changes thanks to our returning players!!! The full release notes will be in our discordAs always, stay super!
- The windiest day ever! - 18 February 2026
Originally posted on 2026.02.17Playtest on SteamNewsletterDiscordToday might be the windiest day I've experienced in Wellington. How much wind power does it take to blow over a building? The forecast said gusts could go up to 130 km/h (81 mph) in exposed areas. Here's a photo of my fence in the neighbor's yard for data. Maelstrom is the vibe out here.Thank you to all of those who came out to the Wellington Game Review at the end of January. We had a blast chatting with players and other devs. I think the feedback was very useful but it's a tricky one. All the things we were trying to fix went unmentioned in the surveys. Does that mean that they are fixed? Yeah, I'm counting it as a W until told otherwise haha. We're now squarely focused our efforts on reducing the maths within the sequence and the words within the tooltips. If you'd like to know about the next time we organize one, just…

To make Dream Team Supreme as good of a game as we can!!We are deep in the weeds of solving the biggest problem our game has, too much math. Can you imagine your cartridges telling you how much damage you will deal without having to add up the power, momentum, and kinetic charge manually? We can't wait for players just slot cards and see what they do.We're super proud to organize the Wellington Game Review. It's an in-person playtest of games made right here, in Wellington. As a free event, there is no registration required. Anyone can simply come over, try out the games, and support their local game devs by filling in a short survey.Wellington Game Review: Friday the 30th at 6pm, at the Respawn Esports Centre, 9 Manners StThis is the first time that Wellington game devs have ba…

Originally posted on 2025.11.25Playtest on SteamNewsletterDiscordI hope you are doing well. Can you believe it's been a year since we started this newsletter?? Whether you've been with us from the start or this is your first email, thank you. Your interest in and support for Dream Team Supreme means the world to me.We had ourselves a little old playtest since we last reached out and I'm happy to say that the Steam friend invitations worked great. There were more co-op games run than in the past playtests, and that's even with us introducing a co-op bug (uh oh). Thankfully, you told us all about it and our new set up allows us to fix issues on the fly. So nothing a little bit of bug squashing couldn't handle before uploading a new build. This month, we're working on adding more juice to the first part of the game so that it lives and breathes while you're playing. - Playtest from November 6th to 11th - 4 November 2025
Playtest on SteamNewsletterDiscordHello, fellow, scientists!!!Sami and Tom just came back from PAX AUS and it was a blast. The whole atmosphere is electric! Over the 3 days of the expo, we had so many people come by and play Dream Team Supreme in co-op. The 2 computers made it so much better than last year. Whether a group of friends, couples, or parents with their children, all had a great time suiting up as a scientist and playing together. The game really shines when you talk through your ideas and make a plan together!Thank you so much for playing and telling us what you think. It means the world to us.Above: Scenes from PAX AUS 2025Our next playtest is just around the corner, we'll be making the game available from November 6th to 10th. - Playtests are coming to Steam! - 22 September 2025
Originally posted on 2025.09.19NewsletterDiscord There's been a lot of neat stuff happening here at Big Adventure HQ! Among our regular bug fixes and incremental improvements, there are some bigger things coming up that we'd like to share. Above: Super Supreme has been revamped! We've done a complete overhaul of Super Supreme's design! The world-saving giant robot now has a more action-figure-y look, something we've been calling "toy style". The colours have also been adjusted to pop better, and show the idea of two different scientists teaming up.Those who have played our previous playtests know that we've been slowly bringing the toy style to various areas of our game; the settings screen and the scientist selection screen, so far. Next on the list is the most important part of the game - the encounter screen! What do you think of the game going in this direction? Also, the next playte…
- What we learned from our playtest and at gamescom - 1 September 2025
PlaytestDemoNewsletterDiscordWhat a fun couple of weeks. We just wrapped up the playtest and I flew back from gamescom in Germany with a ton of great feedback. So what did we learn?Splitting the powers across 3 scientists is fun! Funny data point, the pairing of Toast2 and Dr. Pierre Turner, PhD was the least picked yet the most successful haha. So if you struggled to win, maybe it's easier with Toast2 and Pierre on 0.11?The biggest issues that came up in the playtest were:Mods were offered for scientists that weren't in the pairOops, that's not fun. We can address the mods by creating pools based on scientists. The art style needs cohesionThe cartridge readability needs improvementAs many of you have seen, the new scientists and the settings screen look drastically different from the rest of the game and are our first step into aligning all the visuals in a single art direction. We're ca…

Thank you so much to every player who gave the game a spin! The event was a hectic blast haha; over 70 players gave it a try and filled in our survey. The showcase was during Easter weekend and we all took a week off to recover after that. When we came back, we jumped straight into addressing the feedback. Here are some of the things you liked the most about Dream Team Supreme: "I liked the co-op aspect and the somewhat complex card system" "I like the strategy element, finding the optimal synergy between the deck and how you attack and defend" "I liked how somethings came at a cost but gave back good abilities" "I loved the unique abilities of each boss" "I liked the artstyle and the variety of cards and upgrades.
