- Publisher Get! - 11 August 2026
Good news, everyone! {Farnsworth.gif} We have secured a publishing partnership with RisingTide Publishing, wooo!Like Bad Plan, RisingTide is a fairly small, young business in a difficult industry. They are keen to make an impact, and (importantly) we both see eye to eye in terms of business, the industry and shared values. Their Steam page states: It's like you've known us all our life! All our discussions have been direct, no bullshit, and really focussed on a plan to get this game in front of as many people as possible. In honour of the announcement Dan did a video announcement to go with the special Ember-fied version of the publisher logo:And on Ember specifically, the Tide says: "Heartfelt gore meets Isaac in the Gungeon. Also, does Dan really write children's books? I worry about the children. And possibly the books."In announcing this exciting news we'd like to thank the organise…
- Ember's Journal 9: Demo Delay and so much more! - 26 June 2026
It's been a minute - sorry folks! - but we have heaps to update you on. Wishlists are cracking on; Dan and Chad went to Korea; Demo date delayed (are we real now?); grant funding joy (YAY $$$); EMBER ON TV?!; and we sadly farewell Eli from the studio.Let's get into it, shall we?Wishlists have been slow and steady but we had a bit of a bump due to a number of events and showcases, including the Insider Gaming Showcase and the Horror Games Awards Midsummer Showcase. Oh and the game was showcased in Korea. All of this has taken us REALLY REALLY close to 5K wishlists, and we couldn't be happier. Thanks everyone!Big news here is that Chad and Dan visisted Seoul in South Korea for GAME AiCON at the end of May. Fear not, the name stands for 'Asia Indies', not the usual AI, cos you know we are all hand-drawn here. But seriously, this was such a great opportunity to make more friends for Ember. T…

For this Journel entry we have a huge update: we are announcing our Demo release date! After over a year on Steam everyone can finally look forward to a full demo release in late May, 2026. This will be our main focus for the next few months: we've got lots of systems and content to make, so read on to find out more! Our traction on Steam is slowly improving, and we are now at 3,923 wishlists in total. SO CLOSE to 4k! We've heard that lots of store pages stagnate at 3K and then get more momentum after breaking through 4, fingers crossed! As always, thanks so much to everyone who has wishlisted and told people about the game, we can't thank you enough. Keep that flame burning!Things have been a little slow on the socials front as we have all been preoccupied with events and demo preparation. However we did did really great traction with our 'Ember selfies' series on Instagram during PAX.…
- Ember's Journal 7: Busy times!!! - 5 September 2025
Our wishlists are currently sitting at just below 3,300 - we are still feeling good from the Alpha Beta Gamer review and video (see below), and we're hoping that lots of cool activity in the next couple of months should boost that a little further. This should put us roughly on track for the 7-10K wishlists any game needs to rise above the massive saturation of Steam. Of course the sky's the limit and we really hope to smash this minimum, but for now every wishlist counts so thank you if you have already wishlisted and encouraged others to do so.We are so excited to announce the results of our EmberxAVCon Fan Art competition. First prize was this amazing clay polymer sculpture by Shane Bevin:Everyone who saw it loved this entry so much - from the medium to the sense of action and gore that is just so Ember, it was a standout.Second prize went to Skye, who went to the effort of painting a…

- Ember's Journal 4: SAGE Post-Mortem - 14 February 2025
Hello community - and wow, it’s hard to believe that it’s been four months since we launched our Steam page! Our big news this time is that we have just presented End of Ember at the South Australian Games Exhibiton (SAGE), the premier event for SA gamers and studios. It was rad! We were so lucky to be in the company of many talented and hardworking studios. Check out all the great games that were on show (and skip to 1:13 for the obvious best one!): One of the most exciting things was being featured in a Steam sale for the event, check it out! Our Steam wishlist count smashed through the 500 mark over SAGE (we are now at 563!) - thanks to everyone who has shown us support in this way! Even better, we hear via the excellent folks at GameDiscoverCo that the game's 'hype score' has almost doubled (to a still-modest 21, haha) in the past week, meaning that there is some kind of action happ…
- Embers Journal 3 - 10 January 2025
Happy New Year, Emberites! Here’s hoping you had a bit of a break and some good times with family and/or friends towards the end of the year and you’re facing 2025 with renewed energy and vigour. End of Ember is kicking along and we’ve got some exciting updates to share with you. Our wishlists are now tracking at 481 - thanks to everyone who has added the game! We really appreciate that support and it keeps us going. We are hoping to have a few big events this year which will get us some spikes to track us towards our Wishlist goal for release. Probably the biggest news is that we have had huge growth in Bluesky - we are now looking at 888 followers! IYKYK: Bluesky is like old-school social media, something like Twitter in 2012. There is no punishing algorithm, you can really curate your own feed, and in general there is a strong vibe of community and positivity. So if you’re looking fo…
- Embers Journal 2 - 28 November 2024
Hey, and welcome to our second monthly community update! It’s been a huge month since the launch of our Steam page: wishlists are coming in, the game is developing nicely, and we are planning for a game convention to show off our new build! As always, we want to be totally transparent and let the community know how we are going with our Wishlists. After our launch we came out of the gate pretty strong but as expected things have slowed down since then. Our current number of Wishlists sits at 397. We are still ahead when tracking against our long-term goal of 7K Wishlists by launch but that lead will run out soon (eek!), so we are hoping we make it up with upcoming events and future developments. Thanks for everyone who has wishlisted End of Ember and supported us in other ways on social media and so on. Love ya guts! First up, when we launched our Steam Page we also launched our Gamepla…
- Embers Journal 1 - 30 October 2024
Welcome to the first entry in Ember’s journal, our monthly devlog for updates about all things Ember and Bad Plan. If you like what you see or have any questions please leave a comment below as we’d love to hear from you - it really keeps us going! Since we just launched our Steam page we don’t have anything for you now, but in the interest of transparency we aim to provide updates on just how many wishlists we have gathered each month. If you don’t know, wishlists are super important for indie games as they show the audience’s interest. Not only do they help us predict possible sales on release, they can be great material to get interest from publishers, investors, and grant funding bodies. We will also share data on the game’s ‘hype’ on Steam, according to the (excellent) GameDiscoverCo hype chart. All of this is just to let you know how things are tracking for the game: our goal is 7…
