  Canvas City officials like to present their city as a model modern metropolis; clean streets, efficient infrastructure and living expectations maintained and curated to a carefully controlled standard. Under the watch of the Artistic Control Unit (ACU), public spaces are becoming regimented, standardized, and increasingly difficult to distinguish from one another.But something far less orderly is also gaining momentum in Canvas City. Across rooftops, suspended wires and the reaches of the city, crews of young skaters are building a culture of their own away from the carefully monitored streets. It’s called spark skating.Striking the SparkSpark skating is an unsanctioned and mostly uncontrolled underground sport built around modified electric skates. • Demo Patch Notes v0.1.1 - 1 September 2026

  Thank you to everyone who has tried out the demo and especially to those who have taken the time to leave a review!Your feedback on the game so far has been very helpful for letting us know what parts of game you're enjoying the most (shoutout to the music!), areas we can tweak to improve the gameplay and interesting ideas to look at adding in the future. The team has especially enjoyed watching the Twitch streams from a few of you including Charmeleighon, ShadowStew and Gladiator50n!While feedback has been mostly positive so far, we have heard from our multi-lingual players that some of the localization could be better. We're investigating with our localization provider now to see what can be done to help ensure that the tone and story of Canvas City comes through loud and clear no matter what language you're playing in, so watch this space!In the meantime, here are a few fixed issues…

  Painting Outside the Lines: Designing New Tactics RPG Classes Most tactics RPGs inherit their classes from fantasy games; Knights, Archers, Rogues, Clerics, Mages… and these archetypes exist for good reason. Players immediately understand what role they play and how to best utilise them - you’re not about to send your cleric to the front or move your assassin around in a big group. But Canvas City started not from a “lets build a fun tactics game” premise, rather we were wondering if you could marry a game mechanic built around time and strategy with a theme that is all about continuous movement and flow - i.e. skating games.On paper, it’s a bit of a design doozy; skating games are usually about momentum, movement, and timing, whereas tactics games are turn-based, crew-based, and often combat-focused.
