- Tezcatlipoca V 1.04 – The Promised Release - 30 October 2025
Hello, dear players! 💀 As many of you know, Tezcatlipoca was originally planned to be released today, but I decided to launch it earlier since the game was already complete. While I still believe that the original release was the finished version, I’ve continued adding small touches and improvements along the way. What’s new in this versionChurch expansion The church now has two additional rooms. The puzzle that unlocks the Tezcatlipoca statue now requires the player to collect three small statues scattered throughout the city and place them inside the church.New labyrinth A brand-new larger and more challenging labyrinth has been added. To avoid confusion, it now features multiple exits, though it’s still being tested—so I’d love to hear your feedback!New enemy: Ixpuxtequi | The Sack Man This new enemy unlocks after completing the graveyard puzzle. He wasn’t planned at all, but a sudde…
- Tezcatlipoca V 1.03615 – Day of the Dead - 10 October 2025
Happy Day of the Dead! 💀🌼 This update is 100% cosmetic: the town’s graveyard now features altars honoring the departed, and they will remain permanently. The official in-game date is November 1st, 2025, meaning Tezcatlipoca now exists eternally in the Day of the Dead. This update doesn’t affect gameplay at all, it simply adds more atmosphere and life to the graveyard, which previously felt a bit empty. So, if you’re doing the speedrun, don’t worry—there are no new moves or changes to learn.🌕 Future updatesI’m planning to expand the church slightly and add the largest maze in the game, filled with enemies. I also intend to include one more puzzle inside the church and at least a small underground chamber. All of this will be worked on after the speedrun contest ends, to avoid major gameplay changes during the event.
- Tezcatlipoca V 1.0361 – Hotfix - 28 September 2025
Hello everyone! First of all, a huge thank you to Roqked for pointing out some bugs that slipped through in the last update 🙏. And, as always, my apologies… you know how it goes: every time I add something, I end up breaking something else! 😅 Here’s the list of fixes: 🔹 Bug Fixes Iniestra will no longer appear both alive and dead in the bathroom. A valid code has been added and corrected for the ID machine in the Presidency. Spoiler / Hint There are multiple correct answers for this puzzle. Many of them can be discovered by reading the character biographies available in the Extras menu. Thank you all for your patience and for continuing to support this small project 💜
- Tezcatlipoca V 1.036 - 26 September 2025
Tezcatlipoca V 1.036Hello dear players! This is a small update, focused almost entirely on cosmetic changes, but it also adds a couple of interesting details.New “Cinematic” – SkulliesA new scene has been added for the Skullies. This time, you will experience the diary of a citizen of Tezcatlipoca on their journey toward being consumed by the hunger of a Skullie. This sequence was never originally planned, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to include it—after all, every other monster had a small introduction… except the Skullies.Visual Improvements in the PantheonThe pantheon now features a clear visual indicator showing whether the door is locked or not. This depends on whether the portable battery has been placed in its power source. With this, it will be much easier to remember if you’ve already inserted the battery during future visits. As always, thank you so much for your interest in thi…

- Actualización V 1.031 - 14 September 2025
Update V 1.031Hello dear players! The quality-of-life improvements for Tezcatlipoca never stop—this time, we’re giving a little more weight to the school. Why the school? The initial concept of Tezcatlipoca took place entirely within a school, inspired by a kindergarten near my house. While walking my dogs at night, I noticed one of the school’s lights flickering, and it struck me as incredibly eerie.Changes inside the school The nahual can now appear inside the small mazes.Access to the basketball court maze now requires the broken dagger.A new sound has been added to guide players into investigating the men’s bathroom, once Mary has been freed.A new 3D model has been added at the school entrance to indicate when the padlock is still locked.Notable changesPlayer walking and running speed in the “danger state” has been increased. Even though enemies aren’t an immediate threat, moving slow…
- Tezcatlipoca – More on Development & Version 1.03 - 9 September 2025
Tezcatlipoca – More on Development & Version 1.03Hello, dear players.I’d like to share with you the most important changes in this new version, along with some reflections on the future of the game.Main Changes– Mandatory Mary Summoning Starting with this version, summoning Mary’s spirit is now required in order to leave the school. Why this change? Some players were able to progress through a large portion of the game without summoning her, which made the experience less engaging—especially in the early hours, where only the “Skullies” appeared. To maintain tension and increase the challenge from the very beginning, summoning Mary in the school is now mandatory.– New NPC: Mister Iniestra Mister Iniestra has hidden himself inside the school. If you’re playing on an advanced save file and return to this area, you’ll need to find him—alive or dead—in order to leave. Otherwise, you’ll be tra…
- Tezcatlipoca V 1.03 - 26 August 2025
Hello, dear players. This update is small, but by no means less important!Highlighted ChangesSpace Valkyries:Now features the amazing music of the talented Nobu Mortem.A special shot has been added, which you can activate using the Run button. We’ve introduced indestructible asteroids that orbit the stage and destroy the player on contact. Watch out!Reverse Movement: It’s now possible to walk backwards while crouching, making it easier to solve the game’s very first puzzle.Future PlansA brand-new minigame is planned. However, I’m currently going through a bit of creative block, which has delayed its development. Still, it remains firmly in the plans.I’m also exploring ideas for a New Game+ mode, though I’m not yet certain what kind of benefits would make sense to add, considering that Tezcatlipoca doesn’t feature ammo or permanent upgrades (beyond the health increase from finding hearts)…
- Tezcatlipoca – Level and Puzzle Design - 25 August 2025
In Tezcatlipoca, there are two main types of puzzles: logical and mechanical.🔹 Logical Puzzles These are like the USB one, where you need to switch all the squares to “0.” They are based on reading and understanding the clues you find throughout the game. I believe the hints I provide are enough, but if any puzzle ends up being too complicated, your feedback is always welcome!🔹 Mechanical Puzzles These include sections with moving platforms, areas where you need to crouch, or avoid falling. The intention is for the player to interact more directly with the environment. However, what I’m most proud of are the enemies: each one is, in itself, a small puzzle. Some are repelled by light.Others only damage the player if they remain standing.Others are triggered only if you run or walk close to them. This means that encountering enemies —and combinations of them— becomes a dynamic puzzle the p…
- About Tezcatlipoca – Creative Process - 21 August 2025
Hello, dear players. For those who might be curious, I’d like to share a bit about how Tezcatlipoca came to life and the process behind its development. From the very beginning, I had a clear idea: I wanted to create a horror game set in contemporary Mexico. I didn’t have the characters or story defined at first — and maybe that’s why the narrative feels a bit weak, since it was honestly the last thing I worked on. What I really wanted was a game with tank controls, puzzles, and an oppressive atmosphere. At one point, I considered adding combat, but soon realized my current knowledge wouldn’t allow me to properly implement weapons, ammunition, and enemies that stayed dead after being defeated. So I made a key decision: there would be no direct combat. Similar to Haunting Ground (a game I really like), I wanted to rely more on atmosphere. That game features stealth mechanics, but I didn’t…
- Update 1.027 - 17 August 2025
Hello dear players! In this version we’ve made some small but noticeable adjustments to improve your game experience: Screamer/Weeping Woman enemy: now has a stun effect radius. If you step out of this range, it will still alert other enemies, but you won’t be stunned anymore! Particles: some visual effects have been updated. While I’d love to fill the game with flashy and explosive particles, I feel it would hurt the darker and more eerie atmosphere we want to preserve. Bug Fix: fixed an issue where enemies, when attacking, would cause other enemies to briefly appear and disappear. Thank you so much for supporting Tezcatlipoca! I hope you enjoy these small changes and what’s yet to come.

- Full First-Person Mode & Complete Voice Acting! - 10 August 2025
Hello dear players, I’m proud to announce that Neartdubs has given life to Fabián with a full professional voice performance. All of his dialogue is now fully voiced!I’m also happy to share that the first-person mode is now fully functional for the entire game. I personally completed a full playthrough in this mode without any issues. That said, if you happen to encounter any bugs or glitches, please feel free to report them and I’ll fix them as soon as possible.Additionally, to complement the new first-person mode, we’ve made some adjustments to the game controls:To perform a quick 180° turn, you now need to stand still first, then press the run key and the back direction at the same time.Pressing only the back direction will make the character walk backwards and exit stealth mode. Please keep this in mind, as it’s crucial for solving the first puzzle in the game.
- Update: First Person Beta + Text Adjustments - 31 July 2025
We're rolling out a beta version of the First-Person Camera Mode! Originally not part of the game's design, this new option has been added to the Settings Menu as an experimental feature for players who want to experience the game from a new perspective. Please note: This is an early implementation, and you may encounter bugs or unexpected behavior. The final version of the first-person mode is scheduled for release on August 16, including polish and stability fixes. The game continues to function as intended in third-person mode, but if you notice any issues caused by the new camera option, feel free to report them! Also included in this update: Text size settings for dialogues and many in-game notes. You can now choose between Small, Medium, and Large font sizes. While most notes have been updated, some may still display formatting issues. Fixes will continue in future patches. Thanks…
- Text size changes! - 31 July 2025
I hadn’t considered that some of you might be playing on smaller screens, like the Steam Deck or other handheld devices! The original text size was designed with desktop displays in mind. As a quickfix, all dialogue text now offers three font size options: Small, Medium, and Large! ⚠️ This fix does not yet apply to: Notes scattered around the world The Gallery Books in the Library However, this hotfix lays the groundwork to adjust those fonts in the future! I’ll keep working on expanding this update to cover all text across the game. For now, I hope this makes reading dialogues much more comfortable!
- Small Post-Launch Update - 30 July 2025
This small update focuses on improving the first-person camera, getting ready for a full first-person playthrough of the game! What's new? Full compatibility with the mouse to rotate the character and look up/down. The right stick on gamepads now works just like the mouse for camera control. Get ready to experience the game from a whole new perspective!
