Latest Steam announcements

  • v1.0.7 - 9 October 2025

Oops... Fixed a potential crash that could occur in the options menu. Made it so that backing out after modifying a value now reverts the change in the options menu (as it should).

  • v1.0.6 live! - 3 September 2025

A much needed update, promised long ago. Added keyboard remapping! Yippee! Hooray! Adjusted the overall game difficulty to be more forgiving, especially in the Switcher Mode. Changed the ring spawning logic to make them appear in more predictable and fair locations. Disabled keyboard controls entirely in multiplayer mode. Made the glow effect on the cows and corns a bit more subtle. Made the screen shake effect slightly stronger when you get a ring with a level 4 ship. Like, very slightly stronger. This is how through I am being with these changelogs. Made the menus feel more responsive. Improved the transitions used in the options menu.

  • v1.0.5 is live! - 9 June 2025

I was hoping v1.0.4 would be the last version, at least for a while, but things didn't quite pan out that way. Increased the hitbox size for the cows and corns to make it easier to collect them. Added a glow effect to cows and corns to make it easier to see them at a distance. Made corns spawn at the middle of all the players in multiplayer. Updated the Distant Illusions logo to display without black bars on aspect ratios other than 16:9. Added the game's version number to the credits. Added a hidden code that disables the settings menu and the quit option, for those who want to feature the game in physical arcade cabinets. To toggle it, press Up, Right, Right, Right, Left, Left, Left, Down, Down, Down in order, either in the settings menu or the title screen. Changed the hidden code for disabling shaders to Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, which you can also ente…

  • v1.0.4 is now live! - 4 June 2025

This update is a chunky one! We've addressed a lot of player feedback and added some quality of life improvements that should make things feel more fun overall. Added a new accessibility setting that lets you desaturate colors. Increased ring hitbox size to make it easier to collect them. Increased clone firing speed at base level. Made cubes move slower when leaving the screen. Changed the way rings spawn to prevent them from appearing directly behind or in front of walls. Reduced intensity of the tunnel twist effect at its maximum. Tweaked the profanity filter word list for high score name entry. Made it so that the "Lucky Day" achievement can only be unlocked after a run. Fixed a minor rendering bug with satellites. Fixed a few minor rendering issues in the pause menu. We've also wanted to six new achievements for each unlockable game mode, but it turns out that newly released Steam…

  • v1.0.3 is now live! - 2 June 2025

This is an extremely tiny update that fixes a small error in the achievement code that should not even be noticeable to 90% of people. But hey, we wanted to fix it anyway before submitting a patch for the Nintendo Switch!

  • v1.0.2 is now live! - 31 May 2025

We don't talk about v1.0.1. Updated the game's icon to remove transparency, as it was causing issues in some cases. Fixed a minor visual bug in the ship selection menu. Added a hidden way of disabling post process shaders. In the settings menu, press Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right in a row to toggle the post-process shaders on and off. This may improve performance on very low-end systems (think mid-range PCs from 2007, yes, we tested).

  • Operius DX - Out Now! - 30 May 2025

Boy, I love ceilings. They keep the sky out of my apartment and keep my precious mysterious floating orbs from flying out and vanishing into the great beyond while I'm not looking. But annoyingly, ceilings aren't free, and I have to pay something called “rent” to someone called “landnerd” in order to keep mine. Weird, I know. But that's why we make games, so that you can give us money and we can maintain our pristine collection of floating orbs. So in the spirit of ceilings, Operius DX is finally out. You may have heard that it had to be delayed by four weeks because getting the game out was really rough. That's not true. It was actually even rougher. But it's all in the spirit of making excellent games available for all with wallets full of ceiling-providing money. And it's not a whole lot of money, mind you. Well, anyway, the game is out on Steam. So if you have any parties in the upc…
