  • Game Improvements - 9 September 2026

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following game improvements: Reworked the game settings menu. Since the menu has grown significantly since the game's release and everything barely fit on a single screen, I've split all the options into several categories: Game, Graphics, and Sound. Added a frame rate limit option in the graphics settings. You can now adjust this value separately, with choices including: Unlimited, 30, 60, 120, 144, and 240 FPS. Added a camera style option in the gameplay settings. I personally love the image distortion you can get by fine-tuning the Panini projection—it looks quite immersive. However, the game looks just as cool with a bodycam-style distortion, so now you can play with that option too. Additionally, the original Panini projection distortion requires a higher rendering resolution to maintain good image quality. As a result, the new bodyc…

  • Galician Localization Added! - 14 May 2026

This update includes a single but significant change: Galician localization has been added to the game. Huge thanks to the translator, Alex Arias-Cabarcos! His portfolio on itch.io: alesuot On the downside: the Steam store itself supports a limited number of languages, so at the moment there is no way to add store page localization alongside the translation. In the case of our game, this applies to Belarusian, Serbian, and Galician. But hopefully, in the future, Steam will make its store more comfortable for a larger number of players around the world. That would be great. Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • Extra Difficulty Modes, Pt. 2 - 16 April 2026

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following changes: Added a new “lite” game mode (available in both original and “peaceful” variants). Players still start with the same 10 minutes, but extra red alarm clocks have been placed around the map that temporarily pause the device’s timer. All achievements remain unlockable in this lite mode, but Rankings are disabled. The original difficulty — NORMAL, exactly as it was before the April updates — is now effectively the “ranked” mode (available in both original and peaceful variants). Red alarm-clock spawn points have been tweaked across all modes: one of them is now placed on the lower floors, giving players down there a shot at that crucial extra minute. The overturned chair on the first floor has been moved back to its original position from before the April updates. This applies to the original game modes; the layout is sligh…

  • Improved Polish Localization! - 13 April 2026

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following changes: The Polish localization of the game and store page has been updated. A huge thank you to the translator, Mateusz 'StanleyNovak' Szymański! ∞ difficulty: checkpoints have been added to the level, so instead of restarting the entire level you can now warp to the nearest checkpoint close to where you fell. Same as before — hold R to warp; a full level restart is still available through the menu button. Further polished the difficulty-select screen. All mode names have been rewritten and a new hint now clarifies the difference between settings. HARD difficulty has been removed. I’ll try to explain the reasons for these changes below. The latest Steam discussion got me thinking about all these "difficulty levels" and what they really mean in their current form. Originally, before the game even came out, we had no plans for a…

  • Extra Difficulty Modes - 9 April 2026

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! Recently in the Steam Community we had a useful discussion about how scary the game is. On the one hand (personal opinion, of course), the game has literally one and a half truly scary moments that can frighten because of their suddenness. On the other hand, we’re all different people with our own quirks and life experiences. Plus, far from all players like scary games. So, charged up by that feedback, we decided to make the game a little better and more accessible. This update includes the following changes: The difficulty-select screen has been reworked. Instead of the old three tiers (NORMAL/HARD/UNREAL), the game now offers four: EASY (no timer), NORMAL(no enemies), NORMAL, HARD. EASY (∞) difficulty lets you play with the timer disabled — no rush. Achievements are disabled on this difficulty so the game’s challenges remain meaningful. Last summer and autumn w…

  • Belarusian Localization Added! - 17 March 2026

This update includes the following changes: Belarusian localization has been added to the game. A dedicated CREDITS screen has been added to the main menu. A huge thank you to the translator, Hulec! His Steam profile: Hulec_blr Thank you also to the awesome developers of Song of Slavs for making it possible to add this translation: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2646690/Song_of_Slavs/ Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • Serbian Localization Added! - 15 March 2026

This update includes the following changes: Serbian localization has been added in both Latin and Cyrillic scripts. DLSS has been updated from version 310.4.0 (August 27, 2025) to 310.5.3 (January 30, 2026). A huge thank you to the translator, Radoš "rammba" Milićev! His Steam profile: rammbagrobar Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • Steam Awards 2025, really? - 25 November 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! Well, actually, it's a joke, since these kinds of promotions are aimed at super popular games with massive budgets, massive sales, massive online, and all that massive stuff, which doesn't apply to our tiny little game at all. But we thought it'd be a fun way to bring all our players together, regardless of their experience. Did you really enjoy the game's difficulty and manage to reach the final text? Or did you get tired of flipping on the ramps, got super pissed off, or even managed to break your keyboard? Either way, there's an opportunity to jokingly nominate our indie game as the hardest challenge of 2025! :D Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • New Localization - 21 November 2025

This update includes the following changes: Added Turkish localization for the game and the Steam store page. Added an option to disable music in the settings at the player's request. Additionally, we've started improving the Ells Tales: Idols game page. We've finally added a full game description, several screenshots, and published a major news post with an updated announcement, game details, and an explanation of why the release was delayed for so long. You can check out the new information via the link below: store.steampowered.com/app/3234970/Ells_Tales_Idols/ Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • Final Update & Wrap-Up! - 7 November 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This major update includes the following changes: Bonus Mode: A new type of enemy has been added. This addition slightly expands the game's world and bridges the gap between the harmless madmen from the upper floors and the monster at the end of the game. The new chair-bound enemies have gotten a bit smarter. Now they can move backward, just like the main character. New enemies can now deal damage to the character. In the bonus mode, you can die just like in the main game. But it's worth noting that this mode still remains a place to have some fun and unwind after beating the main game. The shotgun's knockback force has been significantly increased. To make all that wild fun look and feel even more epic. The bonus mode is now unlocked after 19 restarts, you don't have to complete the main game. In Ells Tales, the number 19 is special, so this is a nod to other ga…

  • Important Announcement! - 31 October 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! In this news we want to pay attention to such a habitual thing in our daily life, like social networks. If big texts tire you, you can skip the entire text until "In general..". Stupid or not, we didn't originally plan to actively manage social media or promote our games on them. The only thing we find useful and actually use is YouTube, for posting our game trailers. Sure, we have a half-dead account on Reddit and Twitter (X, sorry), but we log in there, like, once every 3-9 months, lol. Recently, we connected with another developer and even agreed to join him in a Collaborative Bundle celebrating the release of his first game. We'd never done anything like that before, so we were curious to gain new experience and check out what it's all about. But the point is different, the developer asked us: "why don't you create your own community on Discord? It's the cool…

  • Minor Improvements - 30 October 2025

This small update includes the following changes: A separate screen with holiday theme selection has been added to the main menu. The original game, Halloween theme are available for selection, and a Christmas theme will be added in December. Now, when using the toy, it makes its own sound. In total darkness, it's sometimes hard to tell if you've managed to grab the toy in your hand. We've wanted to add this for a long time, but kept forgetting. Finally remembered! For the first 11 places in the Leaderboard, the solid color of the background has been changed to a gradient. This change was added to the game earlier and without a patch note, so it's noted here. A series of preparatory works has been carried out before the release of the latest content update. Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • Already Halloween Update! - 28 October 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This small update includes the following changes: A REFRESH button has been added to the Leaderboard. Since information about other players' results is loaded from Steam, this action takes a small amount of time. We've slightly adjusted the timing of the table's update and also added a forced data refresh button if the game displays incorrect values when opening the Leaderboard. In addition to the text color for the top ten spots in the Leaderboard, a colored background has also been added. It's a small thing, but why not. A silly error with checking the current date has been fixed, ensuring Halloween content is definitely available to everyone at the right time. The spawn locations of the Halloween candles have been partially adjusted so that some won't confuse players, while others provide an extra hint on where to go next. Plus, collision has been added to the…

  • Almost Halloween Update! - 26 October 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! The big holiday for beloved horror games is just around the corner, and we decided not to settle for a boring holiday discount! So, we're thrilled to present you with a small thematic update. This update includes the following changes: Temporary thematic content in honor of Halloween has been added to the game. The content will be available during the holiday discount period from October 27, 17:00 UTC to November 3, 17:00 UTC. Spoiler: it should be added right here that savvy players will find a very simple way to activate this content at any time of the year. The Leaderboard has been improved. We slightly increased the displayed list of players who made it to the overall ranking, and we also added a special text color for the most cunning, fast, and lucky players who aren't afraid of any obstacles and difficulties. Now the first fun place is displayed under the…

  • New Bundle! - 21 October 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! They say strength lies in diversity! So we proudly present a fun bundle of two indie horror games, each offering a unique gameplay experience and vivid emotions. Want to dive into the atmosphere of 1980s suburban America with student Cory Harper, or try yourself as an unnamed hero chained to an office chair in a strange Japanese office? No need to choose — experience both stories for yourself! Additionally, save an extra 10% with a permanent bundle discount and support indie developers. If you already own the game Ells Tales: Chairbound, you can save a whopping 50% in the next two weeks when purchasing Crime Detective: Red Flags—the debut game from Wizard Team! https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/59850/Wizard_Team_ft_EllsPills/ Best Regards, Wizard Team and Ells&Pills

  • Camera Shake Improvements - 15 October 2025

This small update includes the following changes: Some minor fixes have been made to the Leaderboard functionality so that the game doesn't send data when it's not needed. Also, one player managed to tweak a variable in their save file (or something like that) to 0, so that result ended up showing on the Leaderboard too. We won't touch this line, since it's our mistake and it looks funny! But we decided to replace the fancy 00:00 with an equally fancy GG:WP, lol. The logic behind the REDUCED CAMERA SHAKE option has been updated. As we mentioned in the patch notes for the very first update, the game has two types of camera shake: the one triggered by character animations when you're moving with WASD keys, and an additional, fake shake. Previously, this option just disabled the fake camera shake. Now, we've completely removed that fake shake from the game, and the option instead tweaks th…

  • Destructibility! - 14 October 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following changes: The game now features destructible environments, specifically glass surfaces. To implement this, we had to significantly rework the entire level geometry to separate the glass models from everything else, as this feature wasn't originally planned for the game. It might seem like a small detail that doesn't affect anything. But no, as one player pointed out in the comments: "You find a pistol and there's glass in front of you that you just want to shoot! You shoot, expecting a cool effect, but nothing happens". So it's a small but important thing—it's all about those pleasant emotions. Important note: This feature can significantly impact FPS when ray tracing is enabled, as the GPU has to process many reflections from individual translucent glass shards. The logic for applying the red keychain from the alarm clock has be…

  • Ranking Update! - 11 October 2025

Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This major update includes the following changes: Leaderboard added (BETA). This feature was basically begging to be included right from the game's release, but alas, we were too dumb and didn't have the time to dive into C++ to make it happen. We develop all our games using the UE Blueprints visual programming system, and C++ is only used very rarely, when there's absolutely no way around it. But now we've finally buckled down, studied up on it, and added this cool feature to the game. Worth noting, this is our first time implementing something like this, and we have no clue if it'll work perfectly right out of the gate. :D So, expect possible additional patches with fixes. Full controller support added. Somewhere in the Steam Community discussions, we mentioned that for now, we could only add partial controller support, since our game menus are designed for key…

  • Minor Improvements - 4 October 2025

This small update includes the following changes: The logic for the "OUR GAMES" button has been updated. The link now opens in the Steam overlay using a different method. Otherwise, it opens in the user's default browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc). The main reason for this change is that Valve tested the game on Steam Deck, and instead of opening the link, a black screen appeared. Added a new "RULES" section in the pause menu with all game keys and what they do. We noticed some players don't check the rules at the beginning and get lost during the game. Now you don't have to go back to the main menu to see them again. Minor bug fixes. Also, the game build in the additional branch has been completely updated. If you have problems with the behavior of physics in the main game, then switch to the additional build. Best Regards, Ells&Pills

  • Steam Community Items! - 29 September 2025
