Latest Steam announcements

  • Better Signage, Clearer Climbing - 8 June 2025

It's been made clear the mountain needs some better signage, so I've put up some informative messaging on the mountain to warn climbers about the dos and donts of grappling. These signs cover where you should be going early in your trek (up), as well as hazards in each area/ new mechanics to deal with. Happy climbing!

  • Better Tutorial - 4 June 2025

It's become obvious the controls menu and the image glyphs aren't enough to get the controls across, so I've called in a couple helpful skeletons on the first screen to give a bit of guidance for Keyboard and Mouse users! This patch also includes so safeguarding around getting stuck in the ground when moving between screens. Happy climbing!

  • The Grappler goes Global! - 27 May 2025

With the initial framework laid down by the French localization, I've managed to localize the game into Brazilian Portugese, Spanish, and German as well! I'm hoping to make the game more accessible to players and content creators who may want to cover the game. If you're interested in having the game in your language, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Since translation services are expensive, most of these were done freehand. If you spot any glaring issues in your native language, please let me know!

  • French localization! - 26 May 2025

In an effort to improve accessibility, I've added in full French language support! To change your language in game, use the dropdown in the bottom right of the main menu. With the initial translation down, I'm looking forwards to adding more languages! *Note: Translation services are pricy, so I free handed this. Expect it to be pretty rough*

  • Demo Quality of Life Changes - 24 May 2025

Hello! As the main game has continued to grow and improved, I felt it necessary to bring the demo up to speed to better reflect what the full game is like. As such, i've moved the following features from the main game to the demo: Improved Movement Controller Support Physics tweaks UI fade when in front of player Various bug fixes Happy Climbing!

  • Less Friction - 7 May 2025

Simple update, player felt too sticky on the floor. Reduced their friction so they come to a more gradual stop.

  • Controller, Controls, and Physics - 1 May 2025

Introduces quality of life updates and bug fixes, most notably controller support and rebindable controls! Rebindable keyboard controls Controller support Two controller schemes (Standard, where you aim with the right stick, and grapple with the right trigger, and quick grapple, where the grapple is completely controlled by the right stick, grappling to a surface in the direction you push if able) Reduced air acceleration Increased air friction, allowing players to come to a stop in the air easier, for more precise movement Increased player weight so grapple line stays more taut Fixed a bug where the player would get stuck in surfaces

  • Early Access Build Complete! - 19 March 2025

Thank you to everyone who's wish listed the game so far! I know the demo's been up for a few months now, but since then, I've been hard at work getting the remainder of the game to the point where I can confidently release an Early Access build. The Early Access Build will include: 30 screens to grapple, double jump, and dash your way up Special zone mechanics for each area, from hallucinated platforms to falling stalactites Several Steam achievements to unlock A special, very challenging zone for only the truly worthy General QoL changes to improve the general flow and feel of the game This is, of course, building off what's already available in the demo Coming out of Steam Nextfest made me aware of some glaring issues regarding the general controls and difficulty of the early game, so I've toned it down a bit to help players experience more of what The Grappler has to offer. Thanks ag…
