- Patch v1.3.2 for beta - 8 September 2026
Thanks for the reports to all the beta players! Most of the issues reported should be fixed in this patch. Full changelog:fix: crash when stairs are edited with bad timingfix: crash/ui disappearance when snow cannons are too close to the edgefix: snow cannons don't update status when temperature changesfix: visitors get injured inside buildings (unreachable by ski patrol snowmobiles)fix: ticket offices models hang in the airupdate: snow overlay shows snow levels on top of trailsFor rescue snowmobiles being stuck, the fix about visitors injured inside buildings should prevent this happening from now on, but if you already have them in your beta save it won't help. The possible solutions are either building a hospital (rescue helicopters can save people from inside the buildings) or destroying the building where the injured visitors are (most likely a lift)

- Major update and beta branch updates - 3 August 2026
New major update for Octohill is entering its final stages, so it's a good opportunity to set some key dates. This is the biggest update yet (and it took quite a while to develop), so naturally it requires testing and polishing. As usual, there will be a beta branch to see what issues I missed, and this time it will run for three weeks, so you'll have more time to try it out.Beta branch opens from 2nd of SeptemberThe beta branch will be in the state planned for release, containing all the planned features: (seasons, weather with avalanches, bridges and stairs, coloring tools and more). One exception is workshop and mods, which will only become available when the update is fully released. You will be able to switch to beta branch same way as before ("Properties" - "Betas" tabs).Update release on 23rd of SeptemberIf no major issues arise, in three weeks after that the beta version will be…
- Major update progress: Seasons are coming - 17 March 2026
The ski holidays in Europe are mostly over so it's a good moment to share some updates. The next major update development picks up the pace, it's still a long way to go but the list of items to be included is mostly finalized.SeasonsThe main focus of the update, seasons introduction means the snow depth will now change on its own throughout the year. In summer, lower parts of the mountain will likely get green, both trees and land. Besides visual effect, this will also disrupt the skiing activities as people can't ski with no snow. You'll have to either close some trails every summer or buy the newly added snow cannons to ensure trails being snowy all year round. The game will also receive new sandbox settings, where you'll be able to set everlasting winter for your resort if you don't like the changes, together with other things.Snowline limits will be configurable during the map creati…

Skiers and snowboarders will perform various stunts when passing them. For brave and restless ones this is a new source of satisfaction, so they will actively seek such features in your resort. For others, it might be a source of scare and injuries, and they will try to avoid them. You can try concentrating parks in one area of the resort, or build mixed trails here and there - both approaches will work as long as there's a way for every visitor to enjoy…

- Major Update Progress - 21 August 2025
The work on the first Octohill major update is progressing steady, and it seems like a good moment to share some details one what it will include. Freestyle Update will focus on different wintersport activities, and will also improve some of the existing mechanics, most of that based on your ideas and requests. To be more specific, here is what you can expect: SnowparksSeveral different terrain features built directly into the slopes will allow your visitors perform various stunts, gain satisfaction and show off. While some will enjoy and actively seek these features, others will really dislike being forced to do a high jump when they just looked for some chill and good views so leave some space for them as well. The update brings in several fixes and UI/QoL improvements, based on the players' feedback. The most notable among them is the completely redesigned Estimator Tool and new wiki (but there are others, too). Estimator tool Estimator is not a tool that only covers the most basic cases anymore. It has become an ultimate trail-making (or planning) solution, whether you need to create a long new trail that curves around the mountain or a short bridge between existing trails. It is capable of planting multiple points for more flexibility. Here's a short gif demo of the new tool: Wiki Octohill now has brand-new public wiki. It has some useful information and guides, feel free to browse (and add more stuff to it)! You can access it through the "Wiki" in-game button from main menu and help pages, or through this link: octohill.wiki.gg. Hotkeys Among other things, the update also adds new hotkeys…

- A word about helicopters - 29 January 2025
The next important chapter which should be considered essential for a ski resort tycoon is finally complete: helicopters. In the game, they play several roles: Bright red search and rescue helicopters for urgent medical evacuation. Quick rescue will not only save lives but also help you mitigate the reputation penalty for injuries. Heavy-duty cargo helicopters for remote areas construction. High speed and no terrain restrictions will make them indispensable for late game resort expansions. Diverse private helicopters for passenger transportation. They bring in less visitors than buses or cars, but these visitors pay a lot more to land their helicopters right next to the slopes. All of them also have their own advanced buildings equipped with helipads, more efficient and expensive than their helipadless counterparts. They will become an important part of your tycoon when the number of vi…
- Discord, bugfixes and visual effects - 7 January 2025
Hello and Happy New Year! This post contains few updates on what I've been doing over the last weeks. Discord server launch Octohill now has an official discord server! You can join it from links on Steam pages, or through a new button in demo UI. There's not a lot going on there, but feel free to discuss any topics related to the game with me or other players. Visual effects Skiers and snowmobiles now leave pretty trails in the snow, and cast snow dust clouds when breaking snow at high speeds. It is already part of the demo, the screenshots and trailers will be gradually updated later to capture these effects. Bugfixes A couple of rare but critical bugs are fixed now so hopefully no crashes for demo players anymore. Also, AMD GPUs support for Linux has arrived (this includes SteamOS)!
