  • v1.0.3 - Improved Monitor Support (hopefully) - 14 March 2025

Hello! This update should (fingers crossed) improve the experience for those who have larger, unconventional monitor sizes... It does, however, come at the cost of a more stretched image on those screen sizes. It's the only way I could reasonably do this change without fundamentally reworking a lot of systems, and I'd rather those of you who have monitors like that, having a warped but functional experience rather than a completely non-functional one. also, a little promotion, but I do have a Bluesky and Discord! Feel free to check them out, if you want. Discord: https://discord.gg/5cgdMHpvq9 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ocarina0001.bsky.social

  • v1.0.2 - 28 January 2025

Hello everyone. Today I pushed some new fixes and changes, listed below: - Fixed the progress bar not properly displaying the progress along the road - Fixed not generating a new seed until the game is reset - Changed how fast the progress bar updates from 30 seconds to 1 second (no noticeable impact) Thanks for playing my game, and especially large thanks to both Genesz and SkapeGoat for publishing gameplay of The Short Trip. It means a lot :) - ocarina

  • v1.0.1 Changelog - 23 January 2025

Very small update, had two people have an issue with this so hopefully this fixes it: - If you have tutorials active, going near a car will also tell you how to get into the car. ocarina

  • Release Day! - 22 January 2025

The Short Trip has finally been released! How neat is that? This post will go over some behind the scenes transparency stuff and generally just a way to talk about my excitement. This game took a little over 4 months to complete which honestly, I'm not too happy about. My expected time was 3 months (and generally, that's how long I want to spend on each game I make). The Short Trip was also created in Godot, and is technically my second game ever made and published. The first is a dinky little 3D junk collector game on itch that nobody should seek out to play because it's garbage. I feel a lot better towards The Short Trip. Speaking of The Short Trip, if you couldn't somehow couldn't tell, the game is directly inspired by The Long Drive both in name and gameplay. Quietly while I was nearing the end of development I had begun to worry about if my game would make the developers of The Lon…

  • RELEASE CANDIDATE 1 - 22 January 2025

Hey everyone! Today is the final update while The Short Trip is in testing before it releases tomorrow (unless, any major bugs are found). Here's the changelog: Additions: - Enemies now chase cars if the player isn't in their radius - Vehicles are now paintable with paint cans - Added gas siphon, a single-use item that siphons all gas out of any car - Vehicles require engines now, and each vehicle has their own unique engine. You can swap engines between vehicles at will - Added road progress bar to the bottom of the screen - Vehicles can be upgraded by finding upgrade parts of different qualities in POIs. The following stats can be upgraded (or downgraded, if you find a downgrade part): Max armor, max health, steering angle, max fuel, fuel burn rate, and engine power - Added 4 new buildings: Home, Streamlet, Circle, and Triangle - Added 2 new help menu popups. One for entering the car…
