- Tales From The Borderlands is making a comeback this year, minus Telltale Games - 22 April 2022
Gearbox Software are making an “all-new” follow-up to Telltale Games’ Tales From The Borderlands episodic graphic adventure set in the Borderlands universe. It’s out this year, Gearbox revealed at this week’s PAX East event. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford – who stepped aside as head of Gearbox Software last October – dropped the existence of the project right at the end of the PAX East presentation while wearing some shockingly Borderlands-yellow chinos. You can watch for yourselves below. Skip to about five minutes from before the end if you’re just interested in the Tales From The Borderlands announcement. Read more
- Tales from the Borderlands sequel revealed, arriving later this year - 22 April 2022
The episodic, story-driven Borderlands spinoff, Tales from the Borderlands , is receiving a sequel. The follow-up is to be expected later this year, with an official announcement for the game coming in summer. The teaser came from Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford, at PAX East 2022. Pitchford spoke of the affinity players have for the games’ characters, and how the team at 2K and Gearbox have an “interest in developing the Borderlands universe in new ways.” More specifically, Pitchford shared, "I'm talking about an all new Tales from the Borderlands adventure." - Tales from the Borderlands 2 exists, we know nothing about it - 21 April 2022
Tales from the Borderlands 2 was announced today, with very little in the way of detail. We don't even know if it's going to be called TFTB2 - just that it's going to be a new Tales from the Borderlands game. Three more facts: It's been developed internally at Gearbox for several years, it's going to be released in 2022, and we're getting more details on what to expect this summer. Announced on-stage at Gearbox's PAX East 2022 panel, studio boss Randy Pitchford described it as a game "in that style of interactive fiction" that will feature "all-new characters and all-new stories". That emphasis on "new" also pops up in the official tweets on the announcement, so there's no clear indication of whether any of the original cast will return for this new game. The original Tales from the Borderlands was developed by Telltale Games, which doesn't really exist anymore - at least, not in its or…
- Telltale's superb Tales from the Borderlands finally returns to stores next week - 10 February 2021
Telltale Games' wonderful Tales from the Borderlands, a deliriously daft narrative adventure inspired by Gearbox's popular series of first-person shooters, will finally return to digital storefronts next Wednesday, 17th February, following its delisting in the middle of 2019. Tales from the Borderlands originally released in 2014 , and, for my money at least, is easily the best thing Telltale ever made. It smoothes off the mainline Borderlands series' more abrasive edges to deliver a genuinely funny, and surprisingly touching, five-episode adventure focusing on Hyperion employee Rhys (played by Troy Baker) and Pandoran con-artist Fiona (Fiona Bailey) as they attempt to locate and open a Vault. It follows Telltales' usual cinematic narrative adventure formula, but nails it on just about every front, with bags of style and wit, a surprisingly gripping plot, an immensely likeable cast of c…
- Tales from the Borderlands returns to storefronts next week - 10 February 2021
When Telltale Games crashed and burned several years ago under the misfortune of bankruptcy, several games were lost or de-listed altogether in the fallout. Some, like Wolf Among Us 2 and Sam & Max, have managed to stay in development due to popularity. Tales from the Borderlands wasn’t so fortunate, and for the longest time, this quirky take on the Vault Hunting corporate sci-fi universe was unavailable to those looking to take its wild ride. Now, Gearbox is righting that wrong. Tales from the Borderlands is finally returning to digital storefronts and it’s coming next week. Gearbox announced the return of Tales from the Borderlands in a livestream and blog post on February 10, 2021, which also featured all-new details for the upcoming Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut expansion coming in March. On February 17, 2021, Tales from the Borderlands will once again become available on digital sto…
- Troy Baker isn't in Borderlands 3 because Gearbox wouldn't go union - 1 October 2019
Remember Tales From The Borderlands ? Quite nice, that. Way back when, Telltale took Gearbox’s blockbuster and ditched the rubbish bits (most of the memes, all of the shooting) and made quite a brilliant little story. Now, we all know what happened to Telltale – so it was refreshing news when it appeared at least one Tales character would be returning in Borderlands 3 , Troy Baker’s leading lad Rhys. But while Rhys returned, Baker did not. Now the prolific voice actor claims Gearbox’s anti-union policies were behind his failure to return to the Borderlands. (more…)
- Investors announce plans to revive Telltale Games - 28 August 2019
Telltale Games, the defunct developer behind the likes of The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, and The Wolf Among Us, is set to make a return - albeit in a substantially different form - following the announcement that holding company LCG Entertainment has secured Telltale's name and some of its licenses. As reported by Polygon , the new version of Telltale - overseen by Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle, founder and CEO of developer Galaxy Pest Control and ex-sales-and-marketing head for Havok respectively - will have the back-catalogue rights to The Wolf Among Us and Batman, alongside original Telltale properties including Puzzle Agent. As such, some games de-listed from digital storefronts earlier this year could potentially soon make a return. Furthermore, while the new Telltale plans to "stay small over the next six months", it appears that a number of the 250-plus employees…
- Borderlands 2 gets one last round of looty shooty DLC, free until July 8th - 14 June 2019
Borderlands 3 is on the way, and developers Gearbox really want everyone to know, so they’ve launched one final piece of epilogue story DLC for enduringly popular looter-shooter Borderlands 2 . Commander Lilith And The Fight For Sanctuary is free until July 8th brings the cast back together (including folks from Tales From The Borderlands ) for one last fight. They’ve also slashed the price on Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (Containing Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and all their DLC) to under a fiver. Below, a trailer for the new stuff, featuring a gun that shoots exploding unicorns. (more…)
- GOG announce a last call for Telltale Games leaving on May 27th - 23 May 2019
The sad saga of Telltale’s fall is due one last tragic chapter. GOG have just announced that all of the defunct choose-your-own-adventure studio’s games will be de-listed next Monday, May 27th at 11am BST. That includes Telltale’s own games like Puzzle Agent, and all three seasons of Sam & Max adventures, as well as licensed games like The Wolf Among Us, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Batman, and the excellent Tales From The Borderlands. The last of which has already been removed from Steam, though publisher 2K Games are working to bring it (and it alone) back, as reported by Eurogamer . (more…)
