- ADOM is resurrecting once again... - 21 December 2025
Dear community,it’s been a long time since I last posted something here — actually far too long. It’s time to slowly change that. ADOM has entered its eighth age (you can hear about the first four ages here: ; the fifth age was ADOM on Steam, the sixth age the time of Ultimate ADOM, and the seventh age the void that followed that dismal failure). So what’s new?All rights to ADOM (but not Ultimate ADOM) have recently reverted to me, Thomas Biskup, the original creator of ADOM. This also means that I once again feel motivated to maintain the game more actively and to begin a new development effort.I intend to release a new version of ADOM in late 2026 or sometime in 2027 — more likely the latter. While this may not sound overly exciting, it does mean that I will try to breathe fresh life and many new experiences into the game. Therefore, now is a good time to post ideas, wishes, and featur…

- Ultimate ADOM - Caverns of Chaos entering Steam Early Access February 11, 2021! - 8 December 2020
Together with developer Team ADOM, we at Assemble Entertainment announced today the rogue-like dungeon crawler Ultimate ADOM - Caverns of Chaos, heading to Steam Early Access on February 11, 2021, for Windows PC, MacOS, and Linux. Ultimate ADOM is a traditionally-inspired reimaging of the beloved genre and features endless procedurally generated dungeons, monsters, and crafting options, allowing for ultimate replayability. Evil has been vanquished. Peace has returned to Ancardia, and the peasants dare to dream once more of prosperity. Seven very different factions vie for control over the cataclysmic aftermath left behind by Andor Drakon’s defeat. And somewhere, deep down in an inhospitable cave, chaos is stirring again. Pick up your blade, prepare your spells, check your daggers and ready your bow, for you are about to enter the ominous Caverns of Chaos. Choose your allegiance carefull…
- The best RPGs on PC in 2019 - 11 October 2019
Look! A ranking of the 50 best RPGs on PC. I know, you never asked for this, but here it is. It is 100 percent correct, we double-checked. The RPG is a broad and deep sea and fishing out the best games from its characterful waters is no easy task. But we are capable fishers on the good ship RPS, and know when to humanely throw back a tiddler or fight to heave up a monster. Enough of this salty metaphor. Here are the 50 best RPGs you can play on PC today. (more…)
- 42 more hours until the ADOM RPG Kickstarter ends - 11 February 2019
Hi everyone! Just another quick note about the ADOM pen & paper RPG Kickstarter currently running its final 42 hours at https://www.adom.de/rpg-kickstarter: The Kickstarter was funded on day 1 and we unlocked extra art, extra pages for the Game Master's Guide with all kinds of Ancardian randomness as well as a Game Master Screen. And now we are very close to unlocking the first adventure. We have hired some famous RPG legends like Ed Greenwood (the creator of the Forgotten Realms), James M. Ward (the mastermind behind Metamorphosis Alpha and Gamma World), Steve Miller (renowned Ravenloft and Dragonlance designer) and some more to write short stories taking place in the world of ADOM - a free add-on for all campaign donors. You also can get a glimpse at the awesome art we have licensed for the rulebooks: https://www.adom-rpg.com/2019/02/11/the-art-of-the-adom-rpg/ Naturally there will be…
- ADOM 3.3.3 released - 29 January 2019
Hi everyone! Though it's a minor release for Steam we are proud to announce the availability of ADOM 3.3.3 on Steam: https://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2019/01/big-release-day-adom-333-has-been.html (and please forgive us the temporary extra click to skip the screen pointing to our ADOM RPG Kickstarter - but small indie companies need all the attention they can get and we love your support and value your feedback!) - Kickstarter Announcement: ADOM the Roleplaying game - 14 January 2019
Hi everyone! Today I have an ADOM-related announcement! ADOM is branching out into new media: Our Kickstarter campaign for the ADOM pen & paper roleplaying game now is live: https://www.adom.de/rpg-kickstarter You can find more information about the RPG at https://www.adom-rpg.com (and take time to look at our beautiful samples at https://www.adom-rpg.com/samples - I'm really excited about the look of the game). This is really exciting for the current ADOM game, too, for several reasons (besides broadening the audience): Design work currently happening for ADOM RPG will affect the development of Ultimate ADOM (and on the very high backer levels you even can have a direct hand in this). Some of the design ideas in the ADOM RPG (e.g. racial powers growing over time with increasing levels; revised class powers) eventually will make their way back into ADOM to improve the ADOM gameplay. You…
- ADOM 3.3.2 released to Steam - 18 December 2018
Ho ho ho! Shortly before Christmas we decided to release ADOM 3.3.2 to Steam. This celebrates our 100th ADOM release (in 27 years) - a kind of special moment. You can find all the details in this blog post: https://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2018/12/celebrating-100th-adom-release-ever.html Additionally we soon will have something awesome related to ADOM to announce. Stay tuned for another update in the very near future! Kind regards Thomas & Team ADOM
- ADOM 3.3.1 now turned into the public release - 2 October 2018

Brief release note here: https://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2018/10/adom-331-now-turned-into-public-release.html Happy hacking! Thomas & Team ADOM
- ADOM 3.3.1 released as a Steam beta! - 28 September 2018
Hi everyone! We are proud to announce the release of ADOM 3.3.1 fixing some important bugs. Please read our announcement closely if you are a MacOS Mojave user as there is a problem with Mojave that we currently can't quite fix (waiting for another library). There is an easy workaround though. Here you can find the full announcement: https://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2018/09/announcing-adom-331-as-steam-beta.html And now have fun playing! Thomas & Team ADOM
- ADOM 3.3.0 released as a Steam Beta! - 18 September 2018
Hi everyone! After a longer pause we are proud to announce the release of ADOM 3.3.0 as a Steam beta version. You can find all the details about the release in this blog post: https://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2018/09/announcing-adom-330-as-steam-beta.html To activate the beta follow these instructions: https://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/p/adom-beta-steam.html The biggest new feature is the "floating text" UI enhancement. Important messages now pop up in shortened form over the PC and float upwards (e.g. damage, poisoning, critical hits, items found and many more). This really adds a whole new level of comfort to the game as the text messages become far less important and you are much less likely to miss something important. Besides this there are some critical bug fixes (related to multi-turn actions, the volcano quest), another round of buffing for boss monsters and dozens…
