  • 🎨 Visual Art, Soundtrack and Cutscene Updates - 25 May 2026

Development on Hollow Mire continues steadily behind the scenes, and today we wanted to share more glimpses into the world we’re building. 🧍 Updated Portrait ArtworkWe’ve continued updating many of the game’s character portraits. Each portrait takes several days to complete and remains one of the most labour-intensive parts of development. Moving the characters into a higher level of detail presents its own challenges, not just technically, but emotionally as well.We want every portrait to fully represent the character behind it. Their history, exhaustion, fears, and personality all need to come through in a single image. Each face should feel like it carries a story of its own.As development continues, we’re refining these portraits carefully to ensure they feel grounded within the world of Hollow Mire while still maintaining the hand-drawn atmosphere that defines the game. John Rowe E…

  • 🎨 New Scenes and Visual Updates in Hollow Mire - 16 April 2026

Hello all! Today we’re sharing a look at some of the latest visual updates in Hollow Mire, including new locations, updated character portraits, and continued refinements to the UI.Each of these changes brings the experience closer to the tone and presentation we’ve been working toward, something quieter, more deliberate, and more in line with the world itself.🧍 Updated Character PortraitsWe’ve revisited several character portraits. These updates focus on improving clarity, expression, and consistency across the cast while maintaining the hand-drawn feel. Small adjustments in line work, shading, and tone help the characters sit more naturally within the world. Walter Pendrick 🏛️ Falstow Constabulary – CourtyardWe’re also revealing a new scene: the courtyard of Falstow Constabulary.A place of routine and order on the surface, but like much of Hollow Mire, there’s a quiet weight beneath…

  • 🕯️ New Artwork: Exploring Breken House and the Police Station - 15 March 2026

New Artwork from Hollow MireToday we’re sharing a few new pieces of artwork from Hollow Mire, offering a glimpse into some of the spaces players will explore. Each location plays a role in shaping the atmosphere of Breken House and the unfolding investigation surrounding it.🏚️ Beneath the House Some of Breken House’s secrets aren’t hidden in plain sight, far from it - they lie between the walls and beneath the floors. In this scene, John navigates a narrow crawl space, pushing deeper into the hidden structure of the house. Exploring Breken House means more than simply walking its halls. Players will need to move through tight passages, forgotten compartments, and spaces never meant to be discovered. To truly uncover what happened here, every nook and cranny may need to be explored… even if that means altering the house itself.📂 The Clerk’s OfficeAt the police station, Gwen Porter pays a…

  • 🎨 Inside Hollow Mire’s Hand-Drawn World - 26 January 2026

🎨 Environments & Characters in Hollow MireToday we wanted to share a few pieces of artwork from Hollow Mire that capture a stage of development we rarely show.🚪 The Gate to Breken HouseFar from the city, the iron gates stand before Breken House. This threshold marks one of the story’s emotional turning points, a place where certainty gives way to doubt, and memory begins to fracture. The world grows quieter here. Heavier. This scene is caught between concept and completion. Stone and iron are sketched into place, while fog, light, and decay begin to take hold in paint. It’s a moment suspended between intention and inevitability. 🏢 The Editor’s OfficeA quiet room at the edge of the story. This is where John first begins to sense that his work is pulling him somewhere darker, a small office filled with paper, stale light, and organised chaos. In this sketch > full colour, much of the scene…

It should feel more natural, less rigid and improve pacing. Alongside that, we’ve made a handful of quiet quality-of-life adjustments that help the experience unfold more cleanly and comfortably. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to step in, this is a great time to try the demo. 🏚️ A First Glimpse of Bordon Downs AsylumBelow is a look at one of the earliest locations you’ll encounter in Act II, the entrance to Bordon Downs Asylum at dusk. Detective Gwen Porter arrives on site to investigate the disappearance of a patient under grisly circumstances. What she finds at Bordon Downs Asylum is only the beginning. From here, players will begin making choices that…

  • Letters from the front - 14 September 2025

Hi everyone,We wanted to share a couple of new screenshots from Hollow Mire. The first is from a flashback sequence near the end of the war, a wide summer vista, WWII trucks moving in convoy, and John in the back, writing a letter to Eve. It’s one of those moments where hope and unease live side by side. The second takes us back to Breken House, with a glimpse of the 2nd floor and part of the ground floor. A grandfather clock ticks as the lights flicker. Listen closely, and you may hear whispers drifting through this hall. Thanks as always for following along, and we’ll have more to share soon. -- Mowlo Games

  • The Asylum Holds Its Secrets - 25 August 2025

Gwen’s Investigation at Bordon Downs AsylumWe’ve just uploaded two new screenshots from Hollow Mire, a glimpse into Gwen Porter’s path through the asylum. In the first, Gwen finds herself at Bordon Downs Asylum for the Insane. Against the backdrop of screams echoing down the corridors, she examines a murder scene, forced to piece together what happened in a place where truth and delusion intertwine. The second screenshot drags us below, into the dark, damp basement of the asylum. Among the dripping pipes and scattered debris, Gwen hunts for clues that may reveal where a missing patient has gone… though every step deeper feels like it leads further away from safety. These scenes show just one thread of Hollow Mire’s dual narrative, where the search for answers demands walking into places that resist being understood. We’ll be sharing more of Gwen’s journey soon. For now, take a closer look…

  • Three Faces You’ll Meet in Hollow Mire - 9 August 2025

Every story in Hollow Mire begins with a face. Some you’ll trust. Some you won’t. And some will stay with you long after you’ve left. Walter Pendrick - Age - 65 Bio - A 65-year-old groundskeeper, shaped by years of quiet village life. Fond of cats, less so of people. John Rowe - Age - 34 Bio - War hero turned investigative journalist, burdened by the weight of what he’s seen. Loves a good story, but fears the truths that hide in the unknown. Gwen Porter - Age - 24 Bio - A wily, determined London detective with a sharp eye for detail. Thrives in the bustle of the city, but the stillness of the countryside sets her on edge. We’re sharing these portraits during Steam’s Debut Festival (August 7 – August 11, 2026), where Hollow Mire will be featured alongside other first-time titles. If you’d like to follow our progress and help Hollow Mire reach more players, please consider adding it to you…

  • Dev Note #2: Visual Update - Portrait Unveiled – Meet Frank - 30 July 2025

Hey everyone,We’ve just added the first of the new portraits to the game, one of several character reveals planned over the coming weeks. This one is for Frank, the groundskeeper at Breken House. You’ll meet Frank early on, at a quiet rural station in the middle of nowhere. He’s waiting there when you arrive. Don't expect a warm welcome. Just a nod and a heavy silence that sets the tone for your journey through the snowy Devonshire roads to Breken House. This new portrait aims to capture who Frank is beneath the surface, distant, quiet, and weighed down by a history he won’t speak of. He’s been part of the estate longer than anyone else, and his presence will set the tone for the night to come. We’ll be sharing more snippets of the world like this soon, little pieces, one at a time, as we get closer to the new trailer and start unveiling the bigger picture. Thanks again for following al…
