- Buddy Bug Dev Log#3 - 14 May 2025
Dear Players, Hello! Since our first playtest, we have developed clearer plans for improving the dual-player mode experience, optimizing controls, and developing new content. In this dev log, we will detail these plans and welcome your suggestions. (The information below is version that under development.) ________________________________________ I. Co-op Mode Through this playtest and offline demo events, many players invited friends to experience the game. We received numerous suggestions for the co-op mode, such as adding dual-player combo skills, enriching item interaction combinations, and introducing mutual sabotage/combat modes. First, we will definitely enrich item interaction combinations in the future. Whether in single-player or co-op modes, item interactions remain the core gameplay. In co-op mode, as two players can choose different weapons, weapon-item interactions will be…
- Buddy Bug Dev Log#2 - 28 April 2025
Dear Players, Following our previous discussion on core gameplay iteration (check Devlog #1 here), we're excited to share updates on art and narrative redesigns. I. Visual Overhaul 1.Character Illustrations We're redesigning the controversial monster visuals. The current black ant designs lack distinctive insectoid features and appear overly generic. Our solution: Replacing them with red imported fire ant The "Bell Bug" While its bell-shaped head creates visual interest, players reported confusion about its insect type and attack logic. Clarification: This is a cockroach-type unit with non-combat capabilities. Its core mechanic—summoning multiple roachlings—is inspired by cockroaches' rapid reproductive cycle Cockroach-Type Enemies To balance realism and stylization: 1.Key anatomical features (antennae, wings, segmented limbs) will be emphasized. 2.We will also maintain cartoonish propo…
- Buddy Bug Dev Log#1 - 14 April 2025
Dear Players, Thank you sincerely for participating in the Buddy Bug Playtest from February to March and providing invaluable feedback! Based on questionnaire data and open suggestions, we have finalized a comprehensive optimization plan for the core systems. I. Combat Experience Optimization 1. Enhanced Control Feel Based on player feedback from the questionnaires, we will optimize these systems. Certain weapons, particularly the Pile Driver, exhibit slight displacement during attacks, with complex directional inputs (up, down, left, right, and four diagonal directions). After internal discussions, we are considering either temporarily removing the Pile Driver or redesigning it as a terrain-collision tool focused on forceful knockback. Also, we will rework the charging mechanics, balance damage output with operational complexity, and reduce the monotony of "stationary attacks." For wea…
