- Art and Prototype - 19 March 2025
Hello Friends! 👋 Welcome to our journey of discovering Dragon Lands! Today, I’d love to continue our discussion on the origins of Dragon Lands by diving into the art style and prototype phase. ART STYLE This was the most challenging part for me. As a software engineer without an artistic background, finding the right style took a lot of time. During that time, I threw myself into various activities like marketing research, studying of art styles that I liked, prototyping a fighting party games for my friends (which was ultimately scrapped :D), and, of course, playing other games. I spent countless hours playing Forager, Outpath an Nova Lands! Then I've approched incremental games like Gnorp, To The Core and Nodebuster. Through it all, my thoughts kept circling back to creating an idle incremental game, that could offer a similarly engaging experience. CONCEPT I had two main goals: T…
