- Development Diary 20260913 - 13 September 2026
Even though it is only mid-September here in Japan, the weather has started to feel like autumn. I hope everyone is doing well. I recently finished playing the Mark III version of *Haja no Fuuin* (Seal of the Evil-Destroyer) that I picked up last month; it was a fantastic experience. I’m looking forward to seeing *The Backrooms* with my son next week. My family is also hooked on *Lanterns*; since I know the backstory regarding Manhunter, I’m holding back on spoilers and just enjoying it quietly. I'd also like to see "Sword of Azrael" made into a movie.Regarding game development, I have temporarily paused the event creation I was working on last month to focus on building the final dungeon. At the same time, I am checking for overall consistency across the game and making necessary adjustments.I plan to implement boss battles in October, post-game content in November, and the remaining e…

\Summer is drawing to a close—how has everyone been doing? I spent this summer fully immersed in family time, games, and movies, playing whenever I had a spare moment. I’m really looking forward to the release of *The Backrooms* in Japan next week. This week, I’ve been enjoying videos from Gamescom; it’s always exciting to see American games thriving. Today features an indie game showcase, so I probably won't be getting much sleep tonight! As with the previous update, I’ve been working on implementing in-game events; specifically, I poured all my energy over the past month into the game's mid-section—the most exciting part of the story. Although this pushed my schedule back by a month, the result is something truly great, and I hope everyone gets the chance to play it someday. Now that production is entering its final stretch, looking back at the process, it’s incredibly rewarding to see…

\It has become the hottest time of the year here in Japan; personally, it feels a bit more bearable than last year, but I hope you are all doing well. My son has started his summer vacation, and we are planning to go see *Spider-Man* next week—I’m really looking forward to it.I have continued working on implementing the game event since last month. Although there is a lot to handle for this pivotal mid-game sequence, improvements in my technical skills give me confidence that I can deliver an enjoyable gaming experience. From August onwards, I will press ahead with implementation, aiming to complete the final dungeon.I have been creating original artwork using a Rotring pen since 2019; however, as I had just started my creative journey at the age of 45, my art style varied significantly from one drawing to the next. My style began to stabilize after I switched to using a G-pen in 2025.…

\Hello! How are you doing? In Japan, it's hot and humid even at night due to the typhoon.I recently went to see the movie *Masters of the Universe* and really enjoyed it (I actually saw it twice). I couldn't stop thinking about Pigboy, and I laughed every time he appeared. Next, I plan to go see *Michael Jackson* or *Supergirl*.As for game development, I’ve been frequently building the game to squash bugs and adding sub-event scenes. From the mid-game onwards, short cinematic sequences (a few seconds long) will play when certain monsters appear. You can customize the player character shown in these cutscenes using your portfolio settings (you can even import original illustrations). This will be my main focus through around October, so expect a similar update next month.See you again next month!May your gaming life be filled with happiness!

\Hello! How was your long weekend? I watched Tokyo Game Dungeon live streams with my family. Seeing the amazing works of young developers is inspiring and motivates me. I'm aiming to participate in Tokyo Game Dungeon next year."It begins with Tokyo Game Dungeon, and it ends with Tokyo Game Dungeon."I want to make that a reality.Lately, I've been debugging the battle system and creating backgrounds for the battle screen. I'll do a build this month, and if there are no problems, I'll start the full-scale assembly work next month. (Currently, 30% is playable.)This game allows you to add portraits in various places, so those who enjoy drawing or have original characters should look forward to it. Sample full-body portraits and faces are also available.See you again next month!May your gaming life be filled with happiness!

\Hello! How are you doing? It's getting warmer in Japan, and the continuous rain is causing the cherry blossoms to fall. But I love the falling cherry blossoms that only come out at this time of year, so I'm enjoying my walks.I've finished paying my taxes for fiscal year 2025, and things have settled down at home. I was helping my 17-year-old son with his workout, but after just 10 strange squats, I was completely out of breath. It was tough for a 51-year-old whose job mainly involves desk work…This month's game development focused on creating a lock system. As this is my first game development project, I had given up on implementing a lock system a few years ago, thinking, "I want to make one, but it's probably impossible..."I loved playing the Famicom version of "Hillsfar" and as a child, I had a strong longing for the PC version and envied families that owned a PC back then. The lock…

\It's gradually getting warmer in Japan. It's the changing of the seasons, but I hope you're all doing well.March was physically demanding because I was helping with a move, and although I didn't experience muscle soreness like an older person, I was utterly exhausted.I'm currently working on a small-scale system for game development. This time, I've completed an option to alleviate 3D motion sickness. The default is simple, but you can customize it to make it more elaborate.↓Default↓Arrangements (Several types are available)However, since I don't get motion sickness from 3D games, I can't really say how effective it is.Currently, I'm working on a key-mastering system similar to Hillsfar. The specifications are designed to be modern and easy, soI think many players will enjoy it. Screenshots will be released in next month's news.Take care of your health and enjoy your gaming life!May yo…

\It's cold! Is it going to get even colder this month? In January, I created all the icons needed for the current specifications. My first pixel art was in January of last year, so it took me a whole year to complete it. It was beginner's luck that I created it without thinking about it, using five black and white colors and a 32x32 pixel grid. If I had added more colors or made it larger, I probably wouldn't have been able to finish it and would have cried. In February, I'll be fixing bugs and correcting any awkwardness in the built version, and redrawing some of the old illustrations. For now, I'll be using this version as a base, and from March, I'll be expanding the map and implementing it in a new field. It's getting cold, so please take care of your health~Blessings to all game lovers!

\Happy New Year! December was busy, so I didn't make much progress, but I was checking whether I could build it at its current level. I'm glad that it works now. In January, I'll be working on fixing bugs in this version and finishing the icons and other graphics.I spent the New Year's holidays drinking nonstop with my son (my eldest), but today I went out for yakitori to end the holidays. I've been drinking so much every day, and now that I'm over 50, my stomach's feeling heavy. Goals for this yearAround September, I'll have most of the game completed, except for the graphics and effects.Complete the system in November.February-May (2027): Brush up on the graphics, modeling, etc.Start exhibiting at events, etc.I can't wait to see what kind of face I'll have looking at this schedule in six months...Praying for no bugs,Blessings to all game lovers!

\I'm writing this secretly. This is my first post here, so I wonder what it will look like?I'm making a classic "DRPG" with free movement. On weekends, my wife and son fight over the WiFi, so I quietly connect late at night. My goal is to connect the first half of the game and test it on a real machine by the end of this year. It's cold here, but let's all stay healthy and celebrate the end of the year~May happiness come to your games!
