  • NetHack 3.6.6 Update! - 19 August 2021

Finally! A long time coming ... NetHack 3.6.6 The underlying game engine, for NetHack, has been updated to the most recent version of NetHack bringing Vulture back up to date with the most recent underlying NetHack game engine. NetHack 3.4.3 has been left playable, if there are those of you that prefer the older engine, and of course if you have the Slash'EM DLC then Slash'EM 0.0.7E7F2 is there as well. All engines, including the newer NetHack 3.6.6 will benefit from several updates to Vulture itself mainly around stability with all known causes of crashes now (hopefully) removed and a thing of the past. Important notes: In order to make this project easier to maintain in the future, a few file structures have been altered and moved around. If you want to continue playing NetHack 3.4.3 or Slash'EM 0.0.7E7F2 games with your existing bones and/or savegames you will need to move those bone…

  • NetHack 3.6.0 has arrived! - 26 December 2015

NetHack 3.6.0 is now available to play. Also, there are some changes to NetHack 3.4.3 as well as Slash'EM - most significant being the change of the way the map looks (when pressing TAB) and the complete removal of the intro video which was far too loud for most people and annoying to watch each time you start a new game. Please note regarding NetHack 3.6.0: This is still a BETA and there might still be issues we did not detect during testing. If you find any issues at all, with NetHack 3.6.0, please let us know on the NetHack 3.6.0 Forum Thread so we can try resolve as fast as possible. Enjoy playing and Happy Holidays to everyone!

  • Vulture for Slash'EM is here! - 9 June 2015

The free DLC adding a second game engine, Vulture for Slashem, is now available! Slash'EM, or, Super Lots of Added Stuff Hack with Extra Magic makes many changes to the base NetHack game, adding not only what listed below, but a whole lot more including even obscure dungeon items like guns and light sabres: Six new player roles Five new player races Several new special levels Many new monsters, items and artifacts Loads of other small changes. The main dungeon is longer in Slash'EM than in NetHack and most people regard Slash'EM as much more difficult than NetHack. There's an old saying that goes: "NetHack doesn't care if you live or die, but Slash'EM wants you dead". Additionally the base NetHack game has also had some patches applied to stability, a few people suffered crashes at or near startup. We bundled these fixes into both Slash'EM and NetHack engines and this should hopefully r…
