- Paris to Tokyo: WONDERFALL is going to Tokyo Game Show - 16 September 2026
Hey everyone! We have news today, and it's good news. But let us tell it properly. If you grew up in France in the 80s or 90s, Japan was part of your childhood whether you realized it or not. The cartoons after school were anime. The console under the TV was Japanese. A good share of the games that made us want to make games came from Tokyo and Kyoto. We've always felt that France and Japan were linked somehow, culturally. Whether that's a fact or just how the world looked from a French living room, we couldn't tell you. What we can tell you is that when the chance came up to take WONDERFALL to the Tokyo Game Show, we jumped on it without a second thought.Selected Indie 80Since 2023, the Tokyo Game Show has selected 80 indie games from around the world each year through its Selected Indie 80 program, giving them a free space on the show floor. This year, more than 1,500 games applied. We ma…
- Above the Sand: the Rooftops of Paris - 24 July 2026
Hey everyone!Quick dev diary today about one of our favorite parts of Wonderfall: the rooftops of Paris. You won't spend hours up there. It's one sequence among many in Léon's journey, maybe fifteen or twenty minutes of the game. But we poured a completely unreasonable amount of love into it, because in this Paris the streets aren't always safe, and for a little while the roofs are the way through. So we had to get them right.A bit of history firstIf you walk through the Paris of Wonderfall, you'll notice the streets are narrow. No grand boulevards, no long straight avenues. Just tangled lanes and crooked facades. And yet, look up and the roofs are grey. That's not us cheating. Zinc arrived on Parisian roofs surprisingly early, around 1815, and it spread across the city through the first half of the 19th century for very unromantic reasons: it cost a lot less than slate, weighed next to…
- A Walk Across The "Île De La Cité" - 10 July 2026
Paris, 1920: A Walk Across The "Île De La Cité"The "Île de la Cité" is where the city began, a sliver of land in the Seine that has carried its oldest stones for two thousand years. It's where Léon starts his walk toward Notre-Dame, and it's where you'll spend the game. Before you set foot in it, we wanted to show you around. One thing to know before we go. Entropy, the force taking the city apart, doesn't burn or break. It ages. Stone softens, iron tires, and what's left drifts down as a fine dark-blue sand, catching in doorways and along the gutters like a new kind of weather. Every place here has lived with it for decades. By now most of the people who once filled these streets are gone, driven out as the catastrophe spread. What you walk into is a city almost entirely emptied.SAINTE-CHAPELLESainte-Chapelle is all height and fine, upward stone: a slender thing that looks like it shou…

- What is Entropy? Three things we can tell you. - 23 April 2026
What is Entropy? Three things we can tell you.Every couple of days, someone new asks us what Entropy is. It's the first question people have about Wonderfall, and honestly, the one we're most tempted to answer in full. We won't. The whole game is Léon finding out, and we'd like that discovery to be yours too.So here are three things that won't spoil anything. The rest, you'll learn in the Paris we've built for you. 1. It doesn't destroy. It ages.Entropy isn't fire, flood, or bombardment. It's a quieter kind of catastrophe. The matter it touches doesn't break, it gets old. Stone softens. Iron fatigues. Mortar crumbles. What's left, once a building has given up, is a fine dark blue sand that drifts into streets and doorways like a new kind of weather. That sand is everywhere in Wonderfall. It's also the reason Léon can do what he does, but that's a story for another post. 2. It makes peopl…
- The Paris That Inspired Wonderfall - 9 April 2026
The Paris That Inspired WonderfallWonderfall takes place in a reimagined 1920 Paris, where a force called Entropy is turning the city to sand. To build that world, we started where any good reconstruction starts: with the real thing. Our environment team digs through archival photographs of the city, studies the buildings, the proportions, the textures, and rebuilds them in 3D.We thought you might like to see what that looks like. Four streets. The archive photo, then what Entropy made of them.Archive photographs by Charles Marville, who documented the streets of Paris in the 19th century.Shopfronts and CobblestonesThe reference photo shows a tight Parisian street. “Comestibles” painted on the shop to the left, a “Rue de Perpignan” sign on the wall, storefronts squeezed together. Our version keeps that framing, the same narrow gap between buildings, the same wall-mounted gas lamp. But t…
