- Devlog June 2026 - 12 June 2026
Hello everyone! We feel like the year just started and now May is already here. It’s incredible how fast the last few months have flown by. Sunny weeks lie ahead of us, and even though it’s raining while I’m writing these lines, we are very happy at the moment! And we have some news to share. 🙂What we have to report:We’re receiving funding – and getting more time! What makes a swamp?Do we need a map?🎮We’re receiving funding - and getting more time!At the beginning of the year, we applied for production funding for Rootbound. At the end of March, we received the wonderful news that our application was accepted! 🥳 Here is a report from Gameswirtschaft (German) that was published in this context. This funding opens up new possibilities for us to make Rootbound even better and allows us to implement even more of our ideas without compromising the quality of the game. However, anyone familiar…
- Devlog January 2026 - 29 January 2026
Hey everyone! 2026 is now almost a month old and has greeted us here in Germany with quite a lot of snow. And what could be better in weather like this than building a snowman, then snuggling into a blanket, and working on your dream game? 😉What we can report on:Too linear… or too open?Let it burn! How to optimize open levels?Into the swamp🤔 Too linear… or too open?In the months leading up to Gamescom, we focused primarily on our demo. We wanted to use it to test how we can best introduce players to the concept of Rootbound. The positive feedback on-site and during playtests on our Discord showed us that we have found a good way to do this.Due to the relatively short playtime of the demo, however, we were not able to feature some systems to the extent we would have liked. These were primarily the effects of the day-night cycle and the dangers associated with the night. The many tutoria…

It’s been a few months since our last devlog, so we wanted to send out another little sign of life. 😊A lot has happened since then:Gamescom recapA new name for PackyWishlistsGamescom Recap As you probably know, Gamescom is one of the most important events on the calendar for any game studio - especially for one based in Germany. So we packed our things, headed to Cologne, Germany, spent a week sleeping on air mattresses in our artist André’s living room (luckily he lives there!), and showed off our game! From Wednesday to Sunday, visitors at Gamescom could play Rootbound in Hall 10.2 and give us direct feedback at our booth. We not only managed to win over new players but also meet many of you who simply stopped by to say hi - which made us incredibly happy! 😊Besides exhibiting the game, networking was high on our agenda. We were able to connect with other studios and pub…
