- Meatkite, Revenge Bullets, and the Red Light District - 5 October 2026
Meatkite is getting a new rendering pass, and the changes reach beyond the sprite itself. The hearts in the design need to read clearly at game scale, so the next pass is looking at stronger color and fewer fine lines. The enemy is also using a new bullet sprite. The current experiments include a homing projectile, a brighter glow or jet trail, and a corrected orientation in game. The goal is to make the bullet easy to read while giving it enough personality to feel like part of Meatkite's attack. The most dangerous idea is the death beat. When the player destroys MeatKite, it may burst apart and throw one final bullet. The current plan gives that revenge bullet three seconds, since infinite chaser bullets suck to deal with. That also gives the rapid VS power shot a clear job: the astral melee projection beam can destroy the bullet almost instantly. Temporary popcorn enemies are also be…
- Level 3's neon red light district is taking shape - 1 October 2026
Level 3 is taking shape as a neon red light district on another planet. The skybox combines large architecture with statuary, distant buildings, glowing circuitry, and haze. Lavender and purple tones in the lower city help the scene feel layered instead of flat. We are checking enemy and projectile layers against the brightest city elements so players can read threats while the background stays dense and alive. Foreground planes add depth, while pacing and the final boss set remain in development. - City Kiosks Are Becoming Enemies - 25 September 2026
The city kiosks are starting to fight back. This development pass moves rough kiosk concepts into the engine so we can test what players actually see during a run. Some buildings become laser emitters with collision and explosions. The Wh1t3 Dr@g0n Nud31s variant is also being used to test mines and how an enemy controls space. Another version launches little defenders from ports in the building. They look like delivery drones, but their job is to make the street dangerous. I am experimenting with smaller drone sizes and an attack cooldown around eight seconds, then checking whether the threats still read while the player is moving and shooting. Those timings and assets are still prototypes. The art review is pushing us toward stronger silhouettes and simpler shapes. One larger launch port may work better than several little shelves. A minotaur-like silhouette is standing out, House Chi…
- Building the Red Light District Without Losing the Fight - 22 September 2026
Level 3's red light district promenade is starting to close in around the player. A towering neon figure and luminous chains now frame the edge of the route, with window silhouettes visible through the pink-lit facade behind her. In our latest development video, we review one of the first renders for an end cap that frames the route and helps the district feel larger than the space the player can directly enter. The first question is movement. Tiny pedestrians help sell the idea of a busy promenade, but static figures can make the whole background feel frozen. We are considering separating them into small sprites that can travel along a spline, giving the scene subtle motion while preserving the option to remove them if they become distracting. The next pass also focuses on silhouette and efficiency. The foreground figure's fist needs clearer knuckle definition, and part of the texture…
- You cleared the defenses. Now the building opens up. - 11 September 2026
You spot a huge building sliding into view. It's covered in defenses. You take them apart before it scrolls away. Then the windows blow outward and riot-shield mechs start pouring through. Oh shit. Round two. That's a Level 3 idea we're exploring for Interstellar Sentinel 2: some large buildings could trigger a surprise enemy entrance encounter when you destroy every defense before they leave the screen. The fun part is that your own play kicks it off. You see a building, read its defenses, and decide whether you're going to try to crack the thing open. What's waiting inside? The architecture becomes part of the fightIn my art-direction feedback session with Kriss, House Chimera is the clearest example. Clear the defenses, break open the window faces, and let the mechs stream out. Those windows need to be separate pieces, and the enemies need to actually fit through them. The art has to…
- Interstellar Sentinel 2 Highlights: Demo Depth, Super Players, and More - 14 May 2026
Interstellar Sentinel 2 really started to feel alive this year. (Play the level 1 updated demo!)Steam Next Fest put the demo in front of more players, but the bigger thing was seeing what happened when serious shmup players and score chasers got their hands on it. They did not just play the demo once and move on. They started testing it, routing it, pushing it, and showing us where the game’s real depth was starting to show. One of the biggest moments for us was Steam Next Fest. It gave IS2 a much wider stage, but more importantly, it got the demo in front of the kinds of players who immediately started digging into the systems. Once super players and score chasers got their hands on it, they started testing the game in ways casual players never would, and that gave us a much clearer read on what was already working and what was being pushed harder than ever. That was where a lot of the s…

- In Interstellar Sentinel 2, the Enemy Wave Surge System adds a new layer... - 12 March 2025
In Interstellar Sentinel 2, the Enemy Wave Surge System adds a new layer of challenge and strategy. When you clear the screen of enemies, a Space Rip Field Generator appears. Destroying it triggers a fresh wave of enemies, ramping up the intensity. This system gives skilled players a way to push themselves further, uncovering more challenging waves, hidden mini-bosses, and more. I love watching players uncover these challenges as they master the game. It's a fast, dynamic twist that rewards precision and quick thinking.
