• Some bug fixes - 10 January 2026

  Just when I thought I'd got out, I got pulled back in! Here's some lil bug fixes for y'all: - Only need one "!ready" to restart a shift. Previously there was a bug that meant only one vote was enough after the first such vote, so I decided to just make it the rule! - Fix for certain anomaly states - like green hot-tub water - getting carried over if they were active at the end of the previous shift (but not their anomalous status, so you couldn't report them away or notice should that anomaly actually happen). - Show a warning when a lot of streams have been selected for an assignment. The more streams are included, the more challenging the game. (Plus the default set and streamer house were never meant to be played together in the same shift!) Day + 1 additions: - Added more chat aliases for some anomaly types; - Fix bug with an anomaly being visible from rooms of the house it shouldn'…

• Steam Workshop support - 20 October 2025

  Steam Workshop support has finally arrived! You can now share your creations to the Steam Workshop, directly from within the editor with a single click! Then anyone subscribed in the Workshop will be able to select and play it inside AFK Shift! And check out the new quick-start guide to making AFK Shift streams! But wait, there's more! Among other small fixes and tweaks included with this release, is a change so that audio-based (and audio-adjacent) anomalies will now be disabled if you set the master or game volume to zero. This allows those who can't hear, or prefer their own music while they play, to enjoy the game without getting stiffed out of success by undetectable anomalies! This is the last of my promised updates to AFK Shift. Given the unsuccess of the game so far, and barring any unexpected events, I'll now be moving on to other projects!

• Oct 7. More small fixes - 7 October 2025

  I'm still finding small things to patch while the Workshop stuff is ongoing! - Time to prepare (before any anomalies spawn) now scales with the number of active streams. So the more scenes you have to observe, the longer you have to learn them (within a limit). The time still also depends on difficulty. - Renamed the Streamer House's "DiningRoom" and "LivingRoom" to just "Dining" and "Living", though you can still use the old names to refer to them in chat if you prefer. - Fixed and tweaked a couple of anomalies.

• Oct 1. "Helpful" update - 1 October 2025

  I'm still working on Steam Workshop support, but in the meantime here's some quality of life fixes! - More extensive (and accurate) !help for chat - Show the stream and anomaly type in reporting overlay - More obvious warning when nearing anomaly overload ⚠️ - Fixed votes showing up when voting is disabled 🙈 - Fixed toggling stream selection via !menu commands - Made "normal" difficulty a bit harder 😈 Addendum! A bonus mini-patch from the 2nd: - Fix "!report new object" not being processed - Disregard chat reports of what's currently being reported 🙃 - Fix a broken anomaly fatality in the demo levels - Added a post-game thankyou and request for support when chat's been playing 🥺

• Update to Godot 4.5 - 18 September 2025

  I've updated the game, demo, and editor to use the newly released Godot 4.5! This update also comes with some small improvements:SMAA is now being used, which should make edges look less jagged;Emoji (for example, in stream titles) now use their proper colours;The demo has been updated to say "available" instead of "wishlist". You can still wishlist of course, but a purchase would be appreciated :3Note: If you've previously made and exported a PCK file using the editor, you may need to re-export it with the new version. This is due to binary incompatibility in how the export was configured. I've now modified the editor project so that hopefully this shouldn't be necessary with future engine version upgrades.

• AFK Shift is out now! - 8 September 2025

  The day has finally come! The AFK Shift is finally open to new observers!The full game includes a new set of streams to monitor - an old house with a sinister past, currently occupied by streamers - and some uninvited guests.Also included is a full level editor and tooling to help build your own spoopy streams for others to experience - either through streaming with the Twitch integration, or by sharing the files directly.Check the pinned forum message for future plans and roadmap!

• Demo release! - 13 May 2025

  Just in case I bungle the build, I'm releasing the demo a few weeks before Steam Next Fest kicks off! The demo is part of my regular build process, so it'll be kept up to date with fixes and improvements as I continue development of the full game - tentatively scheduled for spooky season this year! Try it out and let me know what you think! Future plans: Build out the level/stream editor. Dogfood the editor to make a set of new streams exclusive for the full game. Integrate with Steam Workshop for sharing creations!
