In the crowded streets of modern-day Tokyo, Hiro Kaiho is a middle-aged salaryman drowning in the monotony of his own existence. Trapped in a soul-crushing cycle of endless workdays, sleepless nights, and a life devoid of meaning. His office, a sterile, fluorescent-lit prison, is a microcosm of his despair. Each day, he toils under the oppressive shadow of his senior, a man who embodies everything Hiro despises: arrogance, greed, and a relentless need to dominate. Hiro’s hard work is routinely stolen, his ideas claimed as his senior’s own, and his spirit eroded by the constant belittlement and lack of recognition. Hiro hates his life, his job, and, most of all, himself. He is a man on the brink, teetering between resignation and rebellion. But one fateful night, as Hiro stumbles into his tiny little apartment his life takes an unexpected turn. Exhausted and broken, he encounters his inner voice in the form of a spiritual guardian. Its presence is both comforting and unsettling, with a voice that seems to echo from the depths of his soul. It reveals to Hiro that his suffering is not merely the result of external forces but is deeply intertwined with his own inner demons—manifestations of his worst traits: self-doubt, anger, envy, and despair. These demons have taken root within him, feeding on his misery and perpetuating his cycle of suffering. The guardian offers Hiro a choice: continue down his current path and succumb to his demons, or embark on a perilous journey of self-discovery and confrontation. It grants him the ability to see and battle these inner demons, warning him that the road ahead will be fraught with danger and emotional turmoil. Victory will empower him, but defeat could shatter what little remains of his spirit. Yet, the guardian assures him, even in failure, there is growth. "Whatever doesn’t kill you," it says, "will only make you stronger."
