- Swap your Cards for Stamps in Over the Alps! - 18 June 2026
Greeting Nobles,Swap your swords for poison tipped umbrellas and council robes for suits, it's time to go Over the Alps! Before we were at Tributary, Sam, Harry and Nick all worked at Stave Studios on a game called Over the Alps. That studio sadly folded so we as Tributary have stepped in as custodians to make sure the game didn't disappear! It's an award-winning choices-matter spy thriller set in 1939 Switzerland. You play as a secret agents, whose only line home is a postcard written in invisible ink. The first story, A Case Of The Chateau Vercoli, was written by narrative royalty Jon Ingold (80 Days, Heaven's Vault) and the second, The King of the Mountain, by Tributary's resident storyteller supreme Harry Tuffs.Charm, deceive or strong-arm your way across the Alps in a branching story with over 100k words for each of the supported 15 languages, with more than 2,600 choices that can le…
- v2.0.3 Occlude Hotfix - 14 May 2026
We're back from that space of unbeing. Not quite here and not quite there...with an update!Update 2.0.3It's a small but fun one this time. For those who just want the headlines, here are the fixes included:Fixes to the tutorial for all players. Some players were experiencing an issue where the instructions on the tutorial didn't match the position of the cards on the tableau. This is now fixed for all players!Consistent card deals across all machines. A lot of work went on behind the scenes to make sure every time you play Occlude it is solvable, even if it doesn't feel like it. However, a tricky bug meant that, for some players, that effort was all for naught. There is a full explanation below for those interested in the nitty-gritty of how Occlude shuffles a pack of cardsIf you were one of the players who didn't quite believe our promise that every deal is solvable, maybe give the gam…
- v2.0.2 Occlude Hotfix - 23 October 2025
Hey all,Over the course of the day we spotted a minor bug which we weren't happy leaving, so we're rolling out a second hotfix of day.The South Cardinal for Mr Slab The Butcher Ritual had a small issue that caused some strangeness. To go into any more detail spoils it for new players, however, this has been resolved. We didn't include the name of the Cardinal you were completing on the Round Over screen. This potentially stopped players bragging about it - Disaster! So we resolved this too. We'll keep on tweaking the game where we see fit. If you see a bug or have any sort of issue, feel free to comment or post in the Discussion section of the community page.S
- v2.0.1 Occlude Hotfix - 23 October 2025
Hey all,We spotted two issues with our Cardinals release we've resolved in this high speed hotfix:The West Cardinal for Mr Slab The Butcher Ritual had an issue with one of the coins that made it only partially playable. The Ritual Select screen was reporting no coins for the Photograph Ritual if you scrolled to it after selecting a Cardinal on a previous Ritual, regardless of the amount of Coins you did have. Our apologies! We've tested the Cardinals to death, but adding 243% more content to the game meant we were bound to miss one or two small things. Thanks to those who reported, we'll keep up the pace and fix any other issues as fast as possible.S

- Please update Occlude for a Unity security patch! - 4 October 2025
It's great fun being indie developers. One minute you're working away on Cardinals, adding a ton of new content to Occlude, fixing bugs in King of the Castle, working on prototypes and thinking "wow, this is a lot for a micro-studio".Next minute you get a mildly scary email from Unity about a "security vulnerability" on their side. You have to love it.On the plus side - It's no biggie. You can read exactly what Unity have found out here, and they stress they've seen no evidence of anyone doing anything nefarious. Which is nice. However, to be extra, super safe we still did a high speed patch - The one that came out today - and recommend you update Occlude right now. That's all! We'll have more on the Cardinals very soon. They're close. Upsettingly close.
- Occlude Update 1.0.2 & Announcing the Cardinals Update! - 11 August 2025
Hello fellow cultists, occultists and related adherents. A double edition Steam post for you - Updating Occlude to 1.0.3 and announcing a major, free update coming in a couple of months!Salutations, Update 1.0.3This update resolves the last of our outstanding game issues from launch. It includes:Fixes to typos across the board. Especially annoying was the misspelling of Tributary, our own company, in the credits. Woops.Expanding Game Rules. Players rightly pointed out that they didn't include wording around Purgatory Slots, and we noticed some confusion with how Undo worked in Classic Mode. We've updated both in the Game Rules.Ongoing controller support. We know a small number of players on certain devices have had issues with using controllers. We've made some changes to help this. We could do with some concrete reproduction steps before we can confidently say "it's fixed" so do let us…
- Stains That Never Fade - 23 July 2025
There are still unanswered questions. There is still so much more to understand about these Entities and the games they play. Did Occlude create them? Or did they create Occlude? A new piece of evidence has landed on my desk. A photo of Hiroshima, I think, but every time I look back it seems subtly different. And a sequence of numbers. I cannot connect the dots, if indeed there are dots to connect. One day I will have all the answers. One day I will sleep without these questions tormenting my every waking thought.--The worldis a broken machine.
- Occlude Update 1.0.2 - 17 July 2025
We just can't help ourself - Our second update to Occlude is out! This is another small-ish one, addressing a few missing assets and further improving our controller support. As we said in our previous post the outpouring of support and love for Occlude has been humbling. As has huge amount of feedback! We're working our way through your thoughts and comments as we speak, but in the meantime let's dig into what's inside 1.0.2.Welcome, Update 1.0.2This update has focused on two things - Updating artwork and further improving controller support:Improved Game Rules. The Game Rules (accessible through the options menu) had images that were thoroughly out of date and the text misleading in more than one place. All images have been updated and text revisited to make the game clearer for players. Updated controller support. Players using Steam Deck and controllers couldn't reach unlocked endings…
- Occlude Update 1.0.1 - 14 July 2025
Hello Obscurants, Magicians and other practitioners.First we wanted to thank you from the bottom our hearts for the response to Occlude at launch. Over 5,000 of you have walked through the door in the rain and we're currently sitting on 86% (!!!) "Very Positive" reviews. We're a tiny team who have worked extremely hard to make Occlude, but it's all been worth it for the reaction at launch. You honestly don't know how much it means to us. Thank you again.Right, enough of the soppy stuff, onto the meat of this post:Introducing Update 1.0.1Over launch we spotted a few bugs and issues players were having. We jumped straight on this after going live and are pleased to announce Occlude 1.0.1 - A small update to the launch build. This contains:Fixes for Steam Deck players, specifically with moving off the bottom of the Foundations and accidentally hitting "New Deal". Now when you navigate down f…
- Sinister new card game brings Balatro's rule-warping brilliance to Solitaire - 10 July 2025
Ben Starr's real-life appearances as headlining joker Jimbo aside, nothing about Balatro is particularly sinister. 2024's smash-hit card game is a soothing, number-blasting joy that, as developer 'Localthunk' has stressed, bears none of the gambling overtones of actual poker. But what if you want a darker twist on a family favorite? Enter Occlude . Described as "a ritual disguised as Solitaire," this cosmic-horror card game gives me the unsettling vibes of Inscryption, and developer Tributary Games is burying its secrets just as deeply. Exuberant greetings to you penitents, supplicants and mendicants!Occlude, our game of occult solitaire is available right now on Steam, and we've saved you a seat at the table.Come. Play. Try, fail. Undo your mistakes. Try, succeed. - The Autopsy of [REDACTED] - 7 July 2025
A note was slipped under my office door, alongside a pen drive. Somebody knows I've played Occlude; they must do. But I can't let myself think about that for now. What's more important is the note itself. A medical journal entry? Not a doctor's hand, though. A mortician. Who was she? Why is her death significant here? The drive included a spreadsheet. I've no idea what I'm looking at, but it's clearly important. It's all connected.--The worldis a broken machine.
- Steam Deck, New Features & Launch Plans - 5 July 2025
Greetings you players of world-breaking, mind-shattering "Solitaire Variant meets Lynchian Cosmic Horror At The Sublime Scale" games!Occlude will be in your hands in less than one week. Your seat at the table is waiting. We thought we'd put together a little one-week-to-go post with some bits and pieces we've been working on ahead of the release. Like what, I hear you howl, slathering at the mouth, hands wrenching apart the very fabric of reality?Well...Controller SupportWhile in our humble opinion Occlude - and Solitaire games in general - are best played with mouse and keyboard, we wanted to support as many of our player's preferred input and control schemes as possible. So we've now implemented controller support, which will be available when the game launches on July 10.A caveat here: While we have tested this as thoroughly as humanly possible, we're a teeny tiny team, so the game ha…
- What will be in Occlude at launch? - 26 June 2025
Greetings Obscurants, Magicians and other players of the occult. We come bearing news regarding Occlude. First, if you haven't seen, we're releasing on July 10th, a mere matter of weeks now.Second, we've now taken down the Demo as our full attention has turned to that (very close) launch date. And most importantly we've been hard at work going through your feedback and tightening up the last screws on our unsettling little creature of a game.Let's dive into some launch features and point out a few key differences from the Demo. Starting with...Story ModeYou will now get a choice between playing Occlude on CLASSIC MODE or STORY MODE. This option appears at the beginning of the game and again before you start a Ritual. In Classic Mode:You play Occlude as we intended; Difficult but not impossible. Careful planning will be necessary and we expect you'll need a few New Deals before you complet…
- Earworms and Wet Insects - 25 June 2025
I've had this melody stuck in my head all day. An earworm of unknown origin. A sound playing on repeat, but only in my mind. And only when I'm at the Table. And so I've transcribed it - committed the melody to notation. This is new evidence. The sound feels both close and distant at the same time. It carries a sadness. A weight. Despite this, I know I must track it down. Where. WHERE is it from. This is the information I need.--The worldis a broken machine.

- Demo update - Undo button, clear save fixes and your feedback so far. - 10 June 2025
We've had a ton of feedback on our new Occlude Demo for NextFest. Plenty positive, a few negative, and the vast majority asking for one feature above all - An Undo button.Undo ButtonPartly because we had a great deal of early feedback saying the difficulty was "just right" and partly for Secret Reasons that'll become obvious when you play the final game, an Undo mechanic was something we were planning for after the NextFest Demo. However it's become abundantly clear from feedback the Undo is absolutely necessary and necessary right now. So, your past mistakes can now be undone - We've worked at breakneck speed overnight to bring you an Undo button. For those of you concerned this will make the game trivial, do not worry - This won't let you undo everything. You can now undo moves up to the point you put a card in the Foundation. What this means is, if you accidentally lock yourself by movi…
