Fixed race spawning placing you at a wierd angle if you start the race while in the air Fixed certain holes in miami mesh Fixed lighting in certain areas Fixed no collision on some buildings in Docks Fixed no logs Fixed default resolution being over 100% (much better performance for players not using the render scale option)

  • 0.3.0 - Map Extensions, Race, Collectibles and Hardline - 31 July 2026

Hey VMXers, This is an update post, but we also have a big announcement! We are announcing that VMX is coming to the Meta Store on October 2nd, 2026. Cross play with Meta will bring in so many more players, so even if you don’t want to play standalone, this will make the game much more lively. Gear up, and wishlist today!Map ExtensionsEach map is bigger now, with all of the original content still intact. Instead of changing what players already like, we decided to add more for them to enjoy. Indoor Skatepark is no longer indoor. It's now Docks, a warehouse skatepark that spills out into a container yard. You can climb onto the roof, race through the shipping containers and the parking garage, and test your trick ability on much bigger ramps. Miami used to be a tiny skatepark on the water. We've opened the city up to players, so you can weave in and out of buildings, find your way onto t…

  • 0.2.0 Freestyle Tricks, Manuals, and Leaning - 4 July 2026

Hey VMXers, The long-awaited June update in July. In this section of our roadmap, our goal was to make the game feel a lot more dynamic. We were not able to hit everything in our roadmap, but we think this offers a lot of depth to what exists currently in the game.Manuals, Wheelies, Nose ManualThis has been one of the most requested features. The player is now able to pull their bike towards them or away to do manual tricks. An indicator shows up where you can see the current status of your manual. You will be able to chain these together with other tricks by starting them in the air or bunny hopping from them.LeaningOne complaint we have often received is that the bike feels stiff and arcadey. It is an arcade game, to be blunt, but we've improved this feeling by introducing lean turning. Based on how much you tilt your handlebar, your bike will adjust with you. This effect is scaled on…

  • Release 0.1.7-hotfix 1 - 27 May 2026

Fixed: Removed preview tag from build version number in menu Fixed a bug which prevented you from muting someone, because the unblocked state was coupled to the mute state Fixed issues where the players would go third person, or fall through the world, while respawning while still on the bike in multiplayer.

  • Release 0.1.7 - Quick Menu / Blocking / Sound Engineering - 25 May 2026

Hey VMXers, With this new release, we focused on some quality of life issues mostly around spawning. We had two major targets. First was to make it easier to respawn when you mess up a line. So now we added the quick menu. This is a new menu where you can select respawn while riding the bike, as well as use other common actions like spawning a vehicle. We also simplified placing the personal spawn by making it a simple on/off instead of move and set active. Second was to improve how reliably you spawned in the direction we intended for your own spawns, and same for your personal spawns. So no more spawning the wrong way. We also added the ability to block annoying players. We know people have been asking for this one, so its a step up from mute. The other big change, which hopefully you won't notice too much, was we redid all of our sounds to use Metasound in Unreal 5, which makes it so…

  • VMX 2026 Roadmap - 27 April 2026

Hey VMXers,We've been reading your suggestions, talking to players, and deliberating on a roadmap for the future of our game. While this is not a complete roadmap, it will let you know our plans for the rest of the year. Players have asked for a lot of different things. We tried to focus on what the majority of players wanted that also fit with our vision of the game. Let us know your feedback, what you think we missed, and what you are most excited for!-Break Free Interactive

  • Release 0.1.6 - Megaramp Update - 17 April 2026

Hey VMXers, This is our first new map! Welcome to El Torro Stadium. The crowd is waiting eagerly for you to hit your greatest trick yet on the mega ramp. They will boo or cheer depending on your performance. We are marking this map as beta. We are trying some new graphical effects and want to see how player's machines handle this. While we are taking feedback on all of our maps, we know this one has less playtesting than our previous ones so we are excited to hear what you think. We also added baggy pants cosmetics and a new bunny hop control scheme (press and hold), which you can turn on in the comfort menu. FeaturesAdded El Torro Stadium MapAdded baggy pants and some skins for themAdded crowd cheering effects based on player's scoreAdded an alternate control scheme for bunny hopChangesImproved logging for reporting systemFixesFixed a bug where grabbing the tire/seat/deck straightened…

  • Release 0.1.5 - Personal Spawn, Can Reset, Base Coats - 13 April 2026

Hey VMXers, This one has bug fixes and quality of life updates. Hopefully this makes your lives easier as you try to get the perfect spray and the perfect line. We've been focusing on the biggest request for players, personal spawns! Now you can respawn where you want and test that very specific line you are working on. We can't wait to see what you create. We've tried to make the workshop a bit easier by being able to spray a base coat on your current part in just one click. This will help players get started with their paint, but we know there are other hindrances in the paint system. We plan to overhaul this in the future. In a similar vein, it was too easy to lose a spray can! You can now respawn them all. No more restarting or changing levels to finish your paints. Three more minor audio notes. First, we added two more fixes related to mics. Enforcing the server cap, as well as fix…

  • Release 0.1.4-hotfix 1 - 11 April 2026

It was pointed out to us some files were included in the game package which we did not want to ship. I pushed the same game, but with changes made to the build script to remove some content that should not be shipped with the game. Changes: Removed unused maps (prototype, debug, and in development maps), and the files they reference, this reduces file sizes by ~30% Improved encryption

  • The #1 Issue is Fixed: No More Camera Lag - 7 April 2026

Hey VMXers! We are so glad about the response to our game so far! Many of you have noticed in both your gameplay, and our patch notes, we've had this issue a lot of players are concerned about. The "Camera Lag" issue. This is where your headset is not updating every frame, but it's fine on your monitor. This makes moving your view is lagging behind your movements, and induces motion sickness in a game that's already kind of intense. We have finally fixed this in patch 0.1.4.This is by far the #1 biggest cause of refunds at the moment, so it's been priority #1. This bug gave players a bad taste of the game from moment one. A lot of players are conflating it with bad performance or poor optimization, which I don't blame them for, because you rarely think to look at the desktop screen while using VR. We know the game can run well, which is why this bug was so frustrating for us too.So what…

  • Release 0.1.4 - 7 April 2026

We actually figured out the root cause of camera shaking issue. This was caused by a bug in unreal engine which was documented but never fixed in the source version until the next version. We brought that change in. The game should now be much smoother and reduce the motion sickness previously caused by this bug. A big thing we added is the ability to individually mute a player. You can still mute everyone if needed but you have far more granular control now. Annoying soundboarder? Mute em, while still being able to talk to your friends freely ingame. We'll continue to extend our systems to handle bad players. We kind of assumed Steam players would behave better. Fool me once. Please continue reporting bad players while we improve and grow our moderation tools. Features Player name tags now show voice activity when someone is talking New status menu which tells you your online status an…

  • Release 0.1.3 - 3 April 2026

This fix was mostly working on a new solution to the lagging camera. We know what the issue is now, and our current solution seems to way more reliably fix it. The short version is it seems like there is a chance OpenXR breaks and gets out of sync with the game. Not something we coded... but its something we have to resolve because we know it's not a good experience for players. The other thing we noticed is challenges were either giving too much money, or not working for players. You are both right. It was giving you free rewards for tricks you didn't do, as well not activating when you did some tricks. We made sure grab/hold tricks didn't just give you free points now, either through spam or through incomplete counting of it. It just always counted... whoops. So these tricks are now a bit harder. Also, now its just easier to paint the top of your parts in the workshop! We will rethink…

  • Release 0.1.2 - 1 April 2026

We started working on reporting tools. Some players are misbehaving. This update is a short term stopgap to allow us to get rid of some of those players. We are working on a menu so that way you can mute and/or report players, but for now send us proof and we'll do it for you. Features Supported reporting backend. Banned players cannot create servers, can't search for servers Changes Removed spawning of unnecessary objects in the loading level. Workshop Lighting Optimizations Fixed Workshop projector being a solid color

  • Release 0.1.1 - 30 March 2026

So we got a temporary fix for the shaking in, trying to fix some other quick wins. Added an activity check. Were noticing alot of players just leave the game running, this should help reduce the amount of empty servers. Features Moved hot fixes to launch params to try different variations or remove them. Added the following Launch Parameter: -shakeFixOff which will remove the shake fix, which is better for non-quest users Added the following Launch Parameter: -shakeFix2 which will replace the shake fix making the screen blurry with a different one that shuts off the camera temporarily. This does not work with virtual desktop because it disabled controllers. Added activity check, logs player off of server after a few minutes. Servers announce which branch of the game they are on, so that way you you can't see dev servers Cameras now delete when players leave the servers Changes Adding mo…

  • Hotfix 0.1.0-5 - 30 March 2026

Players could spawn tons of bike, and this is causing a lot of lag. Features Added cooldown to bike spawn mechanic to prevent players overwhelming the servers.

  • Hotfix 0.1.0-4 - 29 March 2026

Ok. So were are struggling to fix this one. I'm pushing an update that has resets your view a few times. It seems like it solves it part of the time. Please look at this post for some more temporary fixes. We'll come back to it once we do some more research. SOrry about that gamers. Fixes Flicker the headset resolution twice everyh map load to attempt to allievate shaking.

  • Hotfix 0.1.0-3 - 29 March 2026

Theres a new temporary fix to the shaking camera issue. We know its related to quest. We know its something about oculus swap chains, and the resolution changing. We are trying to identify where this actually happens but for now, we kick you out of VR mode and back in for a fraction of a section every map load and this seems to work. You'll likely notice the hitch. Were working on a more final solution. Changes Allow the players to finish landing in the tutorial before we respawn them. Tutorial widget is now non-colliding. Fixes Bandaid solution to the shaking issue.

  • Hotfix 0.1.0-2 - 27 March 2026

Ok gamers, we have not fully fixed this headset shaking issue. So far we know its related to quest headsets and something with the runtimes. I'm personally trying to replicate it. I also have a fix that should help if you are having issues joining servers. We think its related to your paint not getting uploaded. You can now skip it, or if you wait and it fails it'll just let you join and you'll not have your paint come with you. sorry. we're working on a real fix. We also have slightly more performance optimization settings. Features added a setting to disable post processing effects added a setting to skip paint upload Changes Give players a tires to upload their paint before we give up. Disable dynamic lights now applies to workshop Fixes Handle part of the shaky camera issue by lowering resolution and raising it back to expected for a short period automatically. Allow users to join m…
