- An impending delay - 7 August 2026
Hey everyone! So, those of you in the discord will know by now, but for those of you who aren't, I recently ran the numbers on the current render times, and realized that this update was projected to take about 15 months at the current rate. Obviously, I had to do something about that. Long story, short: I changed the lighting to allow for faster rendering, while keeping the mood 100% intact. However, the new math now shows that this update is still looking like it'll be in the 7-8 month range, as opposed to my usual 4-6 ... but it's a far cry from 15, so i'll take it. All that said, I have a standing rule. I don't show a character nude, publicly, until she's been nude in the game. - Important News For Linux Users! - 5 May 2026
Hey everyone! So, "The Linux Issue(tm)" has been brought to my attention. For those unfamiliar with the issue, I am being told that the game will not launch on Linux, as it is missing a Linux-specific launch file. Building the Linux version through Ren'Py doesn't seem to be generating that file. Players are telling me that using Proton Experimental through Steam is allowing them to launch it on Linux, but this is having a side effect of causing the game to block them at a certain point in the story, preventing progression. I do not personally know how Proton Experimental is altering the code in order to integrate itself, so I can't say that I'd know how to resolve that. I'll be honest. I don't know a lot about Linux. Greetings everyone! Tonight, i set the very last of the plot renders in the queue for this update! I still need to run through - once all of the art is complete - and do a production run. Set the pacing, the sound and music work, voices, transitions... all that. But the big bottleneck is always the art, and we're through it now, so it should be going into beta testing here within the next week! Almost there!

Greetings everyone! So, I am finally on the other side of my grief, and I am back to work in full. The typical speed at which I work, is 10 renders per day. This is primarily because the setting and rendering of those 10 renders usually encompasses a 24 hour window. There are fluctuations of course, depending on what - specifically - is in the shots. But roughly 70 renders per week is a good average. There is no change there, and things are proceeding as normal. I do my best to be as transparent as I can be about the process, and how the events in my life are affecting it. The loss of Biscuit was very public, and obviously slowed things down a lot. However, as I mentioned, I'm on the other end of that, and nothing notable is holding me back as we continue full steam ahead. As of tonight, the entirety of the update is written and coded. Hey guys!If any of you have been paying attention to the discord announcements, you'll see ive had a few ups and downs lately. I am trying to get a handle on that, but grief is grief, what can i say. Though I really DO feel like I'm through the worst of it now, finally.But enough of the downer stuff. I wanted to take a moment to talk about something. Primarily, I want to reaffirm my commitment to developing and completing the game. I took a hit when I lost Biscuit, but I'm standing back up now, and he wouldn't want me to let this project die :) To that end, we're working on completing the next big scene, with Sandra and Vex. Discord users will have seen a few shots from that upcoming update by now. A lot happens in there, but I will spare you all the spoilers. Greetings everyone! Version 0.3.2b just went live! It's a small bugfix patch. Here be the notes! :) Corrected a definition bug, that could cause a "Sayer not found" hard crash, when viewing scenes from the Replay Gallery.Added several minor translation lines that were missed in the original localization to Simplified Chinese.STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS: Appear to be non-functional for the majority of players. They tested fine before the upload, but something is blocking them. I am working to find the cause and correct it. Please bare with me :).

Hey everyone! It's been a hell of a dev cycle. A lot's happened. Many of you were around for it, so I won't go back into detail on that, but Rivers of Astrum: Daughter of Darkness, version 0.3.2 is now live on Steam! Before we get started ... BIG DEAL ... There's an almost certainty that prior saves will not work in this version, due to the retcon changes made to the code, to incorporate the Simplified Chinese translation. I try as much as I can to avoid save game compatibility issues, but I'm simply beginning to believe (due to the nature of their CAUSE), that - with my direction for the game - it may simply be something that has to be suffered through from time to time (for both you guys and me) until the game achieves its 1.0 release. Hey everyone, So one of the biggest deals for me, and one of the most requested items, was a scene replay gallery. It's coming in this update, which is very close at hand, but i just wanted to share what that's going to look like, in-game! I've only got 5 tasks left on the update checklist, after which it will go to the beta testers. If anyone is interested in signing up for beta testing, feel free to ping me on discord. Greetings, everyone! I do apologize on being late with this, but here is the final wallpaper in the series. The TL;DR of everything I'm about to say is "We're back to the grind!" The long version: Losing Biscuit rocked me. It's been a long time since i've experienced grief that substantially. If I'm honest, a small part of me thought that it may be MONTHS on end, before I'd be emotionally stable enough to get back to game work. But, even then, i was making forward progress, as much as I could stand to, while saying goodbye to Biscuit. Today, that progress kicked up quite a bit, and I felt all the old motivations coming back MUCH sooner than I thought they would.
