• Closed Alpha Released - 31 December 2025

  A few trusted souls (alpha testers) were given a ticket to Ankalibar, and forth they voyaged. They faced great perils (also known as bugs), much confusion (bad dialog) and frustration (clunky save-game UI). But they returned safely, and Ankalibar will be much improved for their efforts.This alpha was conducted with the Windows version. A second closed alpha is planned for the new year. The second will feature fixes for the issues identified in the first alpha, and also a round of performance tuning for the Color Computer version, allowing us to fully test that version too.Beyond that, we expect the new year to allow us to shift fully to development of the substance of the game.   Some good visual progress recently.QuicksaveFirst, a new quicksave feature has been added. Quicksave is triggered automatically when you enter a dungeon or other precarious place, and can be triggered manually whenever you choose. The last four quicksaves are retained, and are easily selectable via a small thumbnail recorded with each:Due to disk size and speed limitations on the original Color Computer 3, quicksaves are not recorded permanently, but you always have the option to load a quicksave and then save a permanent game at that point.AutomapAutomatic mapping of discovered areas is now supported, both above ground and below:Due to the same limitations that constrain quicksaves, automaps are not recorded beyond your current session.ClothingYour equipped clothing is now reflected in your character icon.   Lots of recent progress towards the first Mythfarer closed alpha, hopefully by the end of the year (2025!).Combat is shaping up, but a few features remain to be implemented before the alpha can be released.Here's some of the combat visuals, featuring the ring-of-fire spell:Only one major feature, auto-map, remains to be completed before the alpha.Content-wise, The Islands, the area in which your journey will begin, is about 80% complete.
