  • ⚔️ Hotfix Update – Bugs Crushed, Boss Buffed, Slimes Restored! - 6 May 2026

🛠 BIG BUG FIXThe new 3D card view system introduced a nasty issue in the released build that could freeze the game during play. That bug has now been fixed.Sorry about that everyone — and thank you to everyone who reported it so quickly!🌀 Recursion Cloak UpdateThe Recursion Cloak previously drew a card whenever you played a card.Unfortunately... this allowed the Bladedancer to create effectively infinite turns by chaining together enough 0-cost cards. To prevent endless loops while keeping the item fun, the cloak now includes an 8-card play limit per turn.👑 World Boss UpdateThe demo’s final boss has been made tougher and more climactic.Changes include:Increased final HPAdjusted Block/Armor intent patternsEarlier access to Burn attacksMore varied combat behavior overallThe goal is to make the final demo battle feel like a true end-of-run achievement.🟢 Slime Regeneration RestoredGreen a…

  • Big Changes Coming to Deck of Stabs! - 10 April 2026

Hey everyone,I’ve been hard at work on Deck of Stabs, and I wanted to share a quick update on where things are headed.Demo Relaunch IncomingA new and improved demo is on the way! My goal is to have it ready for Steam Deckbuilders Fest (May 4–11). I’m pushing hard to hit that window—but if I miss it, the relaunch will follow shortly after. While I’d love to say the full game will be ready then, I want to keep expectations realistic: 👉 The demo relaunch is what I can promise right now. The full version will of course follow in the weeks after that but just, no definitive timeline yet. What’s New?There have been major updates across the board, including:Significant engine improvementsRefined and expanded gameplay systemsNew mechanics and featuresOngoing work finalizing classes, cards, and enemiesThe game is evolving fast, and it’s in a much stronger place than before.A Tough CallOn a slight…

  • The Deck Lives! - 19 February 2026

Hey everyone,I wanted to post a quick but important update:Deck of Stabs is very much alive. The game was originally planned to release months ago, but development slowed while I focused heavily on major updates for MetalMercs. As a solo developer juggling multiple projects, sometimes one game temporarily takes priority — and MetalMercs demanded it.That said, Deck of Stabs has never been abandoned. In fact, stepping away briefly has given me time to think over a lot. In that time I've worked to clarify systems, tighten class identities, and refine what makes the game special.I’m now shifting focused attention back to Deck of Stabs and expect to have more substantial progress to share within the next two months — including gameplay previews and clearer timelines.Thank you for your patience and for wishlisting the game. It genuinely helps.More soon.— Jay

  • Deck of Stabs v1.2.1 Now Live! - 12 July 2025

Greetings, Stabbers! We’ve just rolled out version 1.2.1 with a handful of quality-of-life improvements, UI polish, and bug fixes based on your feedback. Thanks for playing—and keep those blades sharp!🎯 Gameplay TweaksDODGE now expires after one turn. Let's be honest, it was a little OP before. It's still good, but it won't last forever anymore. So plan your evasions carefully.Zone-click feedback: if you click on a tile that’s blocked, the obstacle will now do a little wiggle to let you know.🖥 UI & UX ImprovementsZero glyph fixed in the font—zeros were previously drawn in a way that made them look like 1's (you'd have to see it to believe it), but now that's fixed.Health bar appears when you open your map at the top of map, for better visibility.Enemy multiplier indicators (1.25×, 1.5×, etc.) now gently pulse on both the battlefield and the map screen, making them easier to spot.🗺 Ma…

  • Demo Version 1.2 Update! - 28 May 2025

Today, ahead of Next Fest, we’re unveiling a completely fresh way to slice through foes: the Bladedancer. Unlike the Steelhand, whose power grows through ever-bigger swords and axes, the Bladedancer thrives on agility and layered abilities—poisons, wounds, blinds, and deft dodges—to stay alive. Its cards are small and nimble, chaining together in rapid combos, with a touch of randomness to keep every encounter feeling unpredictable and alive. Mastering this class means thinking on your feet, improvising on the fly, and turning chance into victory. ✨ New Playable Class: Bladedancer Starting Deck Essentials: Shivs – pierce through armor with zero cost Daggers – low-cost, high-precision strikes Claws – unleash multiple random hits for chaotic damage Advanced Arsenal & Abilities: Throwing Knives – safe ranged throws to pick off foes Poison Daggers – inflict lingering toxic damage Wounding &…

  • Demo Version 1.1.2 Update! - 27 May 2025

Today’s patch introduces new Steelhand Hammer skills, overhauls stun resistance, adds a battle countdown that powers up enemies, accelerates early leveling, and touches up shop and thief mechanics. 🔨 New Steelhand Hammer Skills Crushing Force – Gives hammers +1 Wounds on hit, making enemies more vulnerable. Concussive Blow – Gives hammers +2 power against stun resistance, synergizing with the new Stun Resist system (see below) ⛏️ Hammer Stun Adjustment Removed infinite-stun exploit: enemies now gain permanent Stun Resistance equal to times stunned (e.g., 2 stuns → 2 resistance). Stun Resistance blocks the next stun hit, then decreases by 1—consecutive stunning is thus still possible but requires more power each time. ⏳ Tension & Urgency! Enemies now power up as time goes on: new area countdown starts at 5 battles. After 5 battles, non-boss enemies gain HP & damage multipliers: 1.25 → 1…

  • Demo Version 1.1.1 Update! - 21 May 2025

Today’s patch focuses on fresh build possibilities, clearer visuals, and quality-of-life polish. Read on, sharpen those blades, and dive back in! 🛡️ New Steelhand Skills Forge even sturdier builds with two defensive skill options: Stonewall – +1 Damage Reduction whenever you have Armor Armor Up – Each unspent Energy at turn end converts to 3 Armor 💰 Coin Theft Goes Animated When a Thief nicks your gold, coins now burst out of your hero 🌟 Take the thief down before it escapes and watch those coins zip back! ⚙️ Minor Tweaks & QoL Deck-trimming just got affordable: removal cost slashed from 20 → 5 Language choice now sticks between runs (saved to config) Filled in a batch of missing translations (more on the way) Capped victory-screen gold pile so XP has room to shine Tooltip glow-up: more icons and clearer text for Slow, Wounds, Poison, etc. 🐞 Bug Fixes Large Axe now correctly grants…

  • Demo Version 1.1 Update! - 14 May 2025

A massive thank-you to everyone who’s been diving into Deck of Stabs! Your feedback has been incredible, and today’s patch brings a brand-new weapon, balance boosts, QoL goodies, and pesky bug fixes: 🔨 New Weapon: Maul Hammer A 2/5 Common Hammer, making it the most powerful common hammer, however, after using it your next attack costs +1 Energy Use it wisely! ⚔️ Skill Buffs Hearty is by far the most popular skill pick at Level 3 (who doesn't want more Energy?!). But I do want all the skills to be viable options. So I'm experimenting with giving Axeman and Swordmaster a small buff to make them more viable. This buff may get reverted if this ends up being too much power, but in the meantime, they should pack some extra punch! Also, more skills are planned for future updates! Axeman From +1 → +2 damage to all Axes Swordmaster From +2 → +3 damage to all Swords 🗡️ Weapon Buff: Broad Sword…

  • First Demo Patch Now Live! - 4 May 2025

A huge thank-you to everyone who’s jumped into the Deck of Stabs demo over the weekend. Your feedback and play metrics have been invaluable—and today I’m excited to ship a small patch that makes some quality-of-life improvements: 🛠 What’s in this update? Early Encounter Rebalance The first few fights are now more forgiving, giving you extra breathing room to learn your cards and build your deck before the heat ramps up Enemy numbers and types have been slightly tuned down in the opening few fights Minor Tweaks and Bug Fixes Price tags in shops now shown in red for items you can't afford Fixed a minor issue related to tooltips sometimes disappearing I’ll continue monitoring play patterns closely and may roll out further tweaks if needed. Your early support means the world—thank you for diving in and giving this game a try! I'll be working in the next few weeks to make Deck of Stabs the…
