Start your journey in a humble garage with a single desk and an old CRT monitor. As an ambitious founder, you’ll take charge of every aspect of your growing startup: producing software, hiring employees, furnishing your office, and managing deadlines, bugs, budgets, and burnout. At the heart of the game lies a unique component-based development system. Every software product, feature, or module is built from multiple layers of components, across five tiers of complexity. To create higher-tier components, you'll need to produce — or delegate — all the underlying elements. Good planning, skilled staff, and smart investments are key to success. You can focus your business on three different types of production: SaaS platforms – Launch and operate live online services (e.g., marketplaces, social networks, MMORPGs) and generate revenue through subscriptions or advertising. Traditional software – Design and release standalone products for sale, from image editors to video games. Contract work – Deliver specific components for other companies under tight deadlines to earn reliable income. As your company grows, so do the challenges. You’ll have to: Recruit and train employees with different specialties. Maintain product quality while dealing with bugs and technical debt. Manage team morale, burnout, and workplace needs.
