- December, 2025 Monthly Update - 4 December 2025
Hi everybody! If you're in part of the world that celebrates Thanksgiving, hopefully you had a good one. It's been a busy month, and it's not going to get any better until after New Years more than likely. I was still able to make progress. Fixed the enemy AI system and the interactions. I wasn't able to get to the shop UI or anything actually neat. I did get all the maps updated to the new Spring art. As I get the other seasons, I'll update those.I keep telling myself an early-access / demo version is close, but there are a lot of small details to get right first. I have no way of explaining how tantalizingly close it so, while still it's so far away :p.I'm really happy with the Fire Shrine re-work. I think it's much more interactive and not.. moon-logic-y.So, that being said, I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas/Hanukkah/Solstice/What-ever-you-vibe-with, and I will post again late Ja…
- Novemeber, 2025 Monthly Update - 6 November 2025
Hello friends! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Halloween.I spent the month getting settled. Moved and started a "part time" job (with nearly full-time hours).I still managed to get most of what I wanted to accomplished. All maps have their seasonal variants and the over-world is fully transversal. Dialogue system works as I want it to, with character portraits able to be swapped out for added context (excited, scared, ect faces of who is speaking). I didn't get any code with the enemy AI but I did get a lot of designs written down during breaks / before clocking in.I started to work on the save/load system and then got distracted with more decor items and got the updated spring assets so started updating those maps. So.. for this month, I shall keep the enemy AI as a goal, but the save/load will not be a priority. The job I got is in the deli of a grocery store and with Thanksgiving an…
- October 2025 Monthly Update - 6 October 2025
Nearly a week late, getting settled from moving. Anyway, on to the updates! The npc pathing is working with the new world management system. To start the game, there are only two npcs, but as you progress and build more will more in. The seasons also do not sharply change on the first. The last few days of the season starts blending in the next season. I really like how it looks, particularly Winter -> Spring,The majority of the world has been completed, as far as maps go. Only ones left is the forest, river, and beach maps, with the possibility of a little map connecting the mountain to the fire shrine dungeon. The fire shrine's feedback was basically "easy yet confusing", so I am tweaking it so it flows more naturally.I did not get to the furnishings, but I haven't forgotten about it. Just been a wild two weeks. The goals for this month:Finish all over-world maps. Improve enemy AI. Poli…
- Monthly Dev Log - 2 September 2025
This last month has been steady progress.Quests and Cutscenes are working, though many need to still be generated. The construction menu allows for variants, and the interior of the construction projectsgets built at obj completion.Zones are linked together, they are just demo/example/dev maps right now, but they waythey are set it, it will be easy to update with the new art.The goals for this month:flesh out the interior / furnishing systemrig up the first shrine and the puzzles. I doubt the enemies will be there, but everythingelse should be. The last thing will be linking the town to the world and setting most of the NPCs move-inrequirements.Sometimes it's dumb-founding to me how much this "small" game has grown. And I amsuper eager to show it off to everyone. Thank you all for the patience, encouragement, andlove you have given me, Cyrus, and Pounce.---Josh
- Update for Aug 2025 - 9 August 2025
Hello!I had to heal for about a month from a health thing, but I am doing better and getting some computer time in every day. Cyrus has been making some killer jams that I'll listen to on loop just because, and Pounce has settled in from her move and is working on the graphics. Things are looking good right now. As for the game itself, I just finished the construction crafting flow (the items that you build in to the world, not to your inventory). The cutscenes and quests are working as well, though those two need a lot of polish yet. About half of the tools have their copper upgrades implemented. The combat, though still early, is feeling fluid, reactive, and fun... and not even close to balanced. If things keep going smooth, I can see us hitting the demo-release I wanted of late Autumn, mid Winter. The biggest things right now between here and there is the first Shrine and the town map…
- A Rough Roadmap to Aetherglen - 31 May 2025
Before I get in to the roadmap, I want to take the this time to thank you very much for wishlisting Aetherglen. It's been amazing to see and feel all the support. Now, a rather rough roadmap for the game. I want to have a demo out by late autumn / winter. I have written out what we need for a minimal product, and I do believe this is a doable time frame. It would include up to the first Shrine, which should be about 2 hours to clear for a first playthrough. Some systems will still be missing such or severely limited. Namely romancing NPCs won't be in there, though building their friendship will be. After that point, the next major milestone will be finishing the content NEEDED to reach the credits. This is the remaining three shrines and four bosses, all world-craftable-items, all tool upgrades and tiers of crops, and several NPCs to move in to town. The final major milestone before rel…
