  • We're In The Cat Appreciation Sale! - 8 August 2026

Cat welfare is near and dear to my heart, as someone with two rescue cats (who actually feature in the game!), I'm always super appreciative to the dev cats team for putting on this sale. The team is also deep into development of the next game, but we're planning on doing a content update sometime before the end of the year... More info will be coming soon!

  • We won??? - 25 July 2026

Still feels a little surreal to say this, but I Eat Paintings When Guards Aren't Looking has won the Innovation in Game Design award at the WA Screen Culture Awards!I guess that makes me an award-winning game designer now, which is a sentence I'll probably need a little while to get used to.Making games is never a solo effort, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this weird little idea from its earliest sketches through to release. Thank you to everyone who playtested, gave feedback, shared the game, cheered me on, or simply believed in it.Most of all, thank you to my wife. She was the narrative designer on the project, and her influence is woven through every part of the game's tone, humour, and personality. The game simply wouldn't be what it is without her creativity, and I'm so proud we got to make something this delightfully strange together.I'd also like to congra…

  • I Eat Paintings Nominated For The WA Screen Culture Awards - 13 July 2026

I'm incredibly excited (and still a little shocked) to share that it's been nominated for a WA Screen Culture Award! It's an absolute honour to be recognised alongside so many amazing creators from Western Australia's screen and games community.Thank you to everyone who's played the game, shared it, cheered me on, or encouraged my strange little museum-munching goblin along the way. You've all helped make this nomination possible. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to resist the urge to celebrate by eating the certificate! 🖼️🍴

  • Yet another UX fix! (Build 1.0.4) - 23 April 2026

Done: - Show some indicator that the list can be scrolled when longer than the page - moving found objects to the bottom of the list (so unfound stuff always lives at the top) - fixed controller support for longer lists (by adding simple buttons to top/bottom) - Made hints not tied to missed clicks - fixed a few more typos (sorry, they just slip in lol) - when you went to hit next level in a replay run, it would jump to the end sequence, so I added a "reset or view" popup (same as the level select) to avoid messy sequence issues. I think this is the last of the launch feedback I got, but if I've missed anything, please let me know!

  • Hotfix - Build 1.0.3 - 14 April 2026

    - Potentially fixed zoom issue on ultrawide monitors (please let me know if it's not actually fixed, I had a real hard time testing this one since I don't have an ultrawide monitor) - Fixed L15 intros not playing correctly

  • What? You want to actually read things? Well fine, here you go! (Build 1.0.2) - 13 April 2026

Hi All! I've been working on some quick fix patches for some of the early issues identified by players (thanks so much all for reporting issues and giving feedback!)I've added the following: The view button when loading a finished level (through level select) takes you to a still playable, but not restarted version of the level, so you can search for the cats without resetting your progress Resetting a level no longer locks the one after it (the levels have memory now! no more simple logic for them!) The save system has had a minor update to account for this new tracked level state Dropped the levels on some of the music, and set the music level lower by default on the options Added some highly requested changes to the level end screen (and a new achievement!) And the big one: The object list has had a big overhaul! Previously, found objects would become inaccessable after discovery whe…
