You will no longer be able to see other players' progress as you make yours but the game is still fully functional in all other ways. • Heaven's Vault studio Inkle drops a strange message to tease its next project - 6 January 2020

  Inkle, the interactive narrative studio whose previous games include Sorcery! , 80 Days , and Heaven's Vault , is teasing its next project—in a very distinctly Inkle-like fashion. Were it not for the fact that Electronic Arts has an exclusive licensing deal with Disney I'd say with solid confidence that Inkle is making a Star Wars game, but since that's off the table, perhaps something Arthurian is in the pipe? The legend of the Round Table fits the words in the list, broadly speaking, and would also be a good match for Inkle's style of illustrated storytelling. Or it could point to a retelling of the legend of Robin Hood: The absence of "bow" is conspicuous, but its inclusion may have been a little too much of a giveaway. • Have You Played 80 Days? - 5 September 2017

  Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. 80 Days is a great travel game. I don t mean it s a good game about a journey (although it is that). I mean it s excellent to play while on a journey of your own. On a plane, ferry, train, rickety bus. Observant folks might point out the absurdity of absorbing yourself in a tiny screen and its navy facsimile of wanderlust while the real world and its sights pass you by. Well played, observant people. But sometimes you look out the porthole and it s just 100% precipitation. What then? Read a book? Nah, go to Siberia on a steampunk blimp. (more…)

  I am dad, hear me whinge. Too many games, not enough spare time, for all my non-work hours are spent kissing grazed knees, explaining why you cannot eat the food in that cupboard , constructing awful Lion King dioramas out of toilet roll tubes and being terrified that the next jump from the sofa to the armchair will go fatally wrong. I’m lucky in that my job to some extent involves playing games, so by and large if there’s something I really want to check out I can find a way to, but I appreciate that there are many long-time, older or otherwise time-starved readers for whom RPS is a daily tease of wondrous things they cannot play.
