- Thoughts on Freedom of Movement / No Teleport - 10 May 2016
This is a gamepad/seated VR game. Why is the game like this? Well, we started with DK2 a couple of years ago. The game was almost finished at the point Vive started putting out their Devkits, and we have only acquired the Vive Pre quite recently. The game was designed for freedom of movement and gamepad control. The teleportation mechanic was simply not around when we were making the game. So long story short, this was our first VR game, we will continue adding some features and fixes within reason, but purely because it was designed for a completely different system than what Tracked Controls and Teleport assume, we get a lot of challenges of how we would handle some of the levels, which one simply cannot clear with a basic teleport mechanic. On some devices, a massive framerate drop is occurring after a level is resolved and the portal activates. Please go to Settings->Graphics and turn off SSAO if you have this issue.

With the launch of both headsets, and aware that only a small percentage of players will have access to VR units for the immediate future, we employ a Dlc model to keep it clear that Kumoon is playable without a headmounted display. The base game includes a demo of VR mode, containing the tutorial and one level from each difficulty in the game, easy, medium and hard. Aiming is done with headtracking in first person, with freedom of movement. The game is very dynamic, and controlling the robot should be handled gently if you are not comfortable with artificial movement in VR. Remember to use the speed toggle. We are proud to be in the first wave of VR gaming in the 21st century. Shout out goes to FIVR, the Finnish Virtual Reality Association! Work In Progress! We have found critical issues, and should have the game running properly in SteamVR at the end of February. Launch from BigPicture mode working. Launches directly into vr mode if Compositor is running. No more need for beta, we are running in the main branch. Note we are currently fighting some issues, have patience!

Added more debug keys in case headsets have different FOV or Aspect Ratio preferences I don't know about. PgUp/PgDown : changes FOV Home/End : changes Aspect Ratio The numbers are visible in Settings->Virtual Reality. If your IPD is strange, the setting that has been sent by the Hmd is shown there also. IPD should always be set directly from Hmd Configuration Tools. ( beta password 'kumoonsteamvr' )

Welcome to the Kumoon SteamVR beta. Anybody can access this with beta password 'kumoonsteamvr'. Without the Dlc, the game will run the VR demo normally, with it the full game is open. You need to have a gamepad for this version. You need to have installed SteamVR from the Tools section of your Steam library. Tested Headset : DK2 Tested Headset : Vive ( had FOV / aspectratio issues. Vive users may need to adjust the aspectratio, explained below. Theoretically supported : DK1, CV1, OSVR If the aspectratio is wrong ( the squares are not square, and the view wobbles if you tilt your head side to side ) Resize the window horizontally to find the correct aspect ratio.
