  Exploring Dicefall means keeping your eyes open. A forgotten coin in the dirt, materials in a dark corner, or an old recipe that someone lost and never picked up again. Whether you find something like that doesn't just depend on your own eyes, but also on how observant your character is.Items in the game world now shimmer briefly every few seconds. Sounds simple, but there's a catch: Not everyone sees the same thing.With an average Perception skill, the effect remains subtle. Spotting loot? Possible, but you really have to look closely:Increase your character's Perception, and things look completely different:The same item, the exact same spot.   The time has come, the factory district finally has its sound!The factory district represents poverty, mistrust, and misery. Capturing this specific atmosphere in a soundtrack was much more challenging than I thought. However, I believe I have finally created a worthy piece of music, which I composed and recorded myself.Please take a listen via the YouTube link below and let the atmosphere sink in.What do you think? • How a 6 beats a 20 - 19 February 2026

  We have dice and we can roll them. Sometimes we even pass ability checks with them. But that's not enough. We need MORE! And that's where runes come into play (literally).At the workbench, you can pick a die and slot different runes onto it. Here we've slapped a Beerium rune onto a wooden die:Hovering over the rune shows you its effect. Hovering over the die shows you how the runes change it overall. With just one rune though, it's not exactly mind-blowing yet:The Beerium rune turns a rolled 6 into a 12! The catch: there's still a 50% chance the roll fails anyway. Throw the right utility rune into the mix and things get way more interesting:Equip this one and hover over the die:This rune just doubled the Beerium rune's effect! A rolled 6 now becomes a 24. Meaning you can technically pass ability checks with a difficulty above 20. Not bad at all.The Beerium rune still has that nasty down…

  I’m sure you know the feeling: You’re short on cash and get the urge to rob someone. You’ve come to the right place, I’ll show you how that would look like in Dicefall. First, we click our victim and we can see that like many things you can do in Dicefall, pickpocketing is a skill check and has a difficulty.Difficulty means: This value must be rolled at least(with a D20 die) in order to pick the man's pocket unnoticed. In this case, at least 6.Now we can dare it:We rolled a 13 which is more than the difficulty of 6, so it worked:That's what we waited for:In principle, all skill checks in Dicefall work like this. Whether you try to persuade someone in dialogue, prove your strength, pick a lock, or examine the surroundings: there is always a difficulty that you have to overcome by rolling.To gain an advantage, you can bind runes to your dice to improve them.   Welcome to the first dev-update of Dicefall ever!Take a look at this menu, this is where you select a dice and an optional empowerment for the next throw:Would you know what you have to do or click? Probably not.Now look at this:I hope it’s more clear now that you have to select from the highlighted panelswhich dice is currently selected through a toggle effect around it (stole the idea from League Of Legends, where toggled abilities have a similar effect).Although this UI could still be even clearer(I am well aware!), those small changes already make a big difference. And let me tell you: shaders are hard. Well, at least for me.
