- ArtLog #3: The Brooklyn Docks - 22 September 2026
Welcome to our third ArtLog for Silent Authority: Blood & Bourbon. "As the city grew, the salt of the docks left a taste of iron." This week, we are taking a closer look at the design process of the Brooklyn Docks, the lifeblood of the underground economy in 1920s New York.Fog, Shadows, and Noir Aesthetics Our visual design aims to capture the dark and hazy texture of the era. As you navigate the Top-Down strategy map, the night lights on the wet surfaces of the docks, the dim lamps in the dock office, and the shadowed areas of the massive warehouses directly reflect the game's overall neo-noir atmosphere. The Mangano Territory and Smuggling The Brooklyn Docks are under the control of the Mangano family, famous for their trade networks. Although it is a high-income region, the large number of port personnel makes it highly vulnerable to intelligence infiltration. Seizing control of the p…
- GameLog #2: Building Your Crime Family - 15 September 2026
Welcome to our second GameLog for Silent Authority: Blood & Bourbon. Building a criminal empire in 1920s New York requires more than just Top-Down tactical shootouts and a grand strategy map; it requires managing the ambitions of your inner circle. Today, we are diving into the Family System. The Family Hierarchy Your organization is built on a strict chain of command, with each role serving a vital function in your empire:The Don: The ultimate leader of the family who holds veto power in all family council votes. If the Don is captured, the family will lose daily Respect. The Underboss: Your second-in-command and heir. If the Don dies, the Underboss automatically takes over the family. The Consigliere: Your primary advisor who carries a weighted vote in decisions. Assigning a character with the "Diplomatic" or "Cunning" trait to this role provides a passive +10% daily Respect bonus. The Ca…

- ArtLog #2: Designing the Gritty Bars and Noir Atmosphere of the 1920s - 8 May 2026
Hello Everyone,Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Welcome to the second episode of our ArtLog series, where we focus on the visual world and design processes of our game. Today, stepping away from mechanics and code, we will focus on the aesthetic structure of the locations that first come to mind when thinking of the 1920s: Bars and secret speakeasies.Noir Atmosphere: The Balance of Light and Shadow At the core of Silent Authority: Blood & Bourbon's visual identity lies the "noir" aesthetic. When designing the bars, our goal was not just to create locations, but to make the player feel the forbidden, mysterious, and heavy air of the Prohibition era.Chiaroscuro Effect: As you will notice in the visuals, we created a strong contrast between dim, warm yellow lights and deep, sharp shadows (Chiaroscuro). This technique adds a claustrophobic yet inviting feel to the venues, while vis…
- Gamelog #1: Front Businesses and the Illegal Economy - 1 May 2026
Hello Everyone,Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Welcome back to the streets of New York. The support and feedback we receive from our community during the development process provide us with incredible motivation.Moving forward, we are transitioning our Devlog series into "Gamelogs" to focus more directly on gameplay mechanics and in-game dynamics. In this first episode of our new series, we are stepping away from the sound of gunfire on the streets for a bit to focus on what truly runs the underworld: "money" and the illegal economy.Commerce on the Surface, Empire in the Shadows In 1920s New York, wealth isn't just hidden in banks, but in the backrooms of small shops across the neighborhoods. In our game, each district consists of various businesses like grocery stores, butcher shops, and warehouses.Front Businesses: These places, which look legal from the outside, are actuall…
- ArtLog #1: Underground Boxing Ring and HQ Design - 24 April 2026
Hello Everyone,Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Alongside our Devlogs, we are now launching our Art Log series, where we will take a deep dive into the world and level design of our game. Our first showcase: The "Underground Boxing Ring," reflecting the gritty spirit of the 1920s.The Boxing Ring as a Headquarters In the world of Silent Authority: Blood & Bourbon, locations are never just background decoration. This underground ring we designed will actually serve as the Headquarters (HQ) for one of the rival mafia families in the game. Get ready for intense combat and raids among damp brick walls, dim lights, and bloody floors.Investing in the Future: Mini-Game Infrastructure When designing our maps, we always keep the future of the game in mind. This boxing arena won't just remain a combat level. While it might not be available right at the initial launch (1.0 release), we hav…

- Devlog #4: Police, Pressure, and Consequences - 7 April 2026
Hello Everyone,Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Welcome to our new development log. Today, we are talking about one of the most critical balancing mechanics in Silent Authority: Blood & Bourbon: actions and consequences. The Heat (Police Pressure) System In our game, violence isn't just a tool; it's a major risk that must be managed. Every illegal action you take in the city increases your "Heat" (Police Pressure) level. Robbing a business, eliminating a rival family member, or engaging in a street shootout escalates the city's "tension" and, consequently, the pressure on you.If you lay low and manage your operations quietly, this tension naturally decays over time, giving you a "cooldown" period. But if you keep making noise, you will draw the eyes of the entire city.Escalating Threat Levels The law enforcement in the city are not just decorations; they scale their response bas…

- Devlog #2: The Families and the Underworld - 25 March 2026
Hello Everyone,Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Welcome to our third development log. Today, we want to dive into the criminal underworld of Silent Authority: Blood and Bourbon and talk about the Families (or: How We Made Our Own Lives Harder!).1920s New York is a massive, living ecosystem, and in our game, the city is divided among 14 distinct crime families hailing from 5 different ethnic backgrounds: Italian, Irish, African American, American, and Chinese. We wanted the city to feel truly alive and reactive. While your journey begins in the heart of Manhattan, the rest of 1920s New York, including Brooklyn, Harlem, and beyond has already been largely implemented and integrated into the overarching gameplay loop. Each of these 14 families isn't just a different color on the map. They have their own mindset, strengths, growth styles, and controlled territories. To achieve this,…
- Devlog #1: Map Designs and the Vibe of the Streets - 18 March 2026
Hello Everyone,Greetings from the Complex Universe team! Following last week's announcement, we are here with our first development log. Today, we want to talk about the map designs and the world we are building for Silent Authority Blood and Bourbon. When our game launches in Early Access, we want to have a significant number of open-area maps available. Of course, we also have indoor maps and we put the same care into them, but our greatest desire is to let players fully experience the authentic, gloomy, and dangerous street atmosphere of those days. That is why we are putting a special focus on outdoor environments.During the map creation phase, we are working on the level design individually and meticulously. We are carefully constructing every detail and every corner of the streets. While doing this, we made sure that all the props and structures in the game are completely modular.…
- Important Update: Silent Authority Release Window - 10 March 2026
Hello Everyone,We at Complex Universe have an important update to share with you regarding the development of Silent Authority Blood and Bourbon. As many of you know, we originally planned to launch the game in Early Access during Q1. However, we have made the decision to delay our release window to the beginning of Q3.The reason for this is simple: We don't want to use the "Early Access" label as an excuse to release something that we aren't fully satisfied with. We are deeply committed to delivering a product that is truly playable, polished, and reflects the hard work and passion we've poured into it.Additionally, a few months ago, we shared a basic demo version of the game with selected players who reached out to us via Discord. The incredibly valuable feedback we gathered from them played a huge role in this decision, helping us take the game to a much better level.Silent Authority…
