- #8 | One Year Ago, Everything Changed! - 8 August 2026
Hey everyone!Today I want to take a little break from development and look back at something very special. On August 8, 2025, I received 2nd place at the Xsolla Incubator. For me, this wasn't just another award. It was the moment when I felt that Biomass: Extermination—and my journey as a solo developer—had officially entered the game industry. Before that day, I had been working on Biomass mostly alone, building, learning, experimenting, breaking things, fixing them... and then breaking them again. That recognition from Xsolla gave me something extremely valuable:belief. And what happened afterwards still feels a little surreal. One year later, Biomass has come much further than I could have imagined.I've had the opportunity to meet developers and industry professionals from around the world, showcase Biomass internationally, connect with publishers, and now I'm preparing to take the game to…

Hello everyone!I have some exciting news I'd love to share with you.I'm honored to announce that I've officially joined the DevGAMM Awards 2026 as a judge! As a solo developer, this means a great deal to me. Over the past two years, I've been pouring everything into developing Biomass: Extermination, learning something new every single day, from game design and programming to storytelling, animation, marketing, and everything in between. Now, having the opportunity to evaluate games created by talented developers from around the world feels both exciting and humbling. I'm looking forward to discovering amazing projects, providing thoughtful feedback, and contributing to one of the industry's respected award events. This milestone is another reminder of how far this journey has come, from developing Biomass alone to attending Gamescom with Xsolla, meeting publishers, and now becoming part o…
- #6 | Easter Eggs in Biomass: Extermination - 24 July 2026
While working on Biomass: Extermination, I hid a handful of Easter eggs paying tribute to some games, movies, and sci-fi classics that inspired me over the years. This short clip contains several of them. Drop your guesses below, I'll reveal the answers!See you in the next Development Log.— Arif
- #5 | 80 Level just offered to feature my game! - 9 July 2026
After years of solo development, 80 Level just offered to feature my game!A few years ago, Biomass: Extermination existed only as a rough idea in my notebook. And now, I woke up to an email from 80 Level offering to feature the project through:-a dedicated article,-homepage placement,-and a trailer feature on their YouTube channel! As a solo developer from Azerbaijan building a psychological sci-fi FPS in Unreal Engine, this honestly feels surreal. The project has been a long road of learning, mistakes, redesigns, self-doubt, late nights, and trying to solve problems that normally entire teams handle. There were plenty of moments when I wondered whether anyone outside my immediate circle would ever notice the game.Game development can be a roller coaster. One day you're dealing with setbacks completely outside your control. The next day you're reminded why you kept going. Still a long way…
- #4 | Lighting intensity - 9 July 2026
I intentionally kept the lighting intensity between 2-3 in this underground tunnel because I wanted visibility without comfort. Do you think low visibility creates better tension than complete darkness? See you in the next Development Log.— Arif
- #3 | Glitch system - 6 July 2026
Im still experimenting with the glitch system and I applied custom made, real time post process glitch system because I wanted the player"s perception to feel physically unstable during tough moments. To note, the player carries Neusuit. Was this the right choice? See you in the next Development Log.— Arif
- #2 | Mini games inside Biomass - 6 July 2026
How do you feel about mini-games inside larger story driven games? If they fit the tone and don’t disrupt the gameplay flow? Or do you prefer games to stay focused on the core gameplay loop? Games like Dead Space, Crysis handled this really well. Below is a small footage from Biomass: Extermination. As you see I’ve integrated some interesting mini games into the levels. It’s fun to play them also!See you in the next Development Log.— Arif
- #1 | Go behind the scenes of Biomass: Extermination - 5 July 2026
Hello everyone!Over the past two years, Biomass: Extermination has grown from a single idea into a project that has connected me with thousands of people around the world. Along the way, many of you have followed development through Reddit, Discord, and other platforms, sharing feedback, ideas, and encouragement that helped shape the game.I realized it's time to bring that journey here as well. From now on, I'd like to occasionally share what happens behind the scenes—not only major announcements, but also the decisions, experiments, successes, and even the challenges that come with building a psychological sci-fi FPS as a solo developer. This isn't just about adding new weapons or polishing environments. Every system in Biomass is designed to support one central idea:What if your own perception became your greatest enemy?Recently I've been working on improving several gameplay systems, i…
