• Development Update: Online Lobbies - 26 July 2026

  Hey there! This is Khao, the lead dev for GFM. Things have been quiet for a bit, but I've been making a ton of progress behind the scenes, and I wanted to show-off some of the progress so you know where we're at right now. After the playtest, about 90% of the work has been dedicated to online play. If you've been following the game on discord, you'll know that we managed to get Rollback working (that was kind of a massive relief, netcode is scary!) and after that, we've been making a ton of progress when it comes to the lobbies.Generic Fighter Maybe's online is powered up by Steam's lobby system. That means you'll be able to freely join and create lobbies, and invite players directly from your Steam friend list. • Playtest begins! - 1 May 2026

  The first Generic Fighter Maybe playtest begins today! The game will be available to play for an entire week, until May 7th! If you haven't requested access, it's not too late, we're pretty much letting everyone in so far, so just go for it!We have a Discord server too! https://discord.gg/28pHTmUceXAlso, once again I want to remind everyone that this playtest only includes local play. You can still use Remote Play Together to fight a friend if you want, but ideally you'll want to play with people locally if you can. Of course, there's still CPUs and the survival mode in case you can't quite do that!

• Join the first official playtest on May 1st! - 24 April 2026

  You'll finally get a chance to test the game on May 1st!This is a chance to try out all the new characters we've been working on. We've got 4 characters ready to go! We've got 3 modes for you to try out: Versus, Training, and Survival. This time, every mode is only available for local play, as our Online systems are still being worked on. But later this year, we'll hold another Playtest just to try out the online!If you really want to play online right now, we'll be enabling Remote Play Together. It's not ideal, but it'll let you play with your friends if you can't meet locally.This is not just a chance to try the game. You can help us determine where development goes from this point.
