Based on your feedback, I’ve added a new layer of challenge to Drop: Save the Forest — without affecting the game’s accessibility. The main progression remains the same, but each stage now includes optional objectives for players who want to test their skills and earn extra points. These challenges are completely optional and designed for those looking for a tougher experience. At the moment, you can try 4 different types of challenges in the first 5 levels of the game (available in the demo too!).Can you complete them all? Give them a try and let me know what you think!
- Gamepad Full Integration! - 19 December 2025
This week I wanted to make drop fully playable with all kind of gamepads.I tried to integrate the controls with the old input system, but the button mapping change from PS to Xbox,So I introduced the new input system, and set the project to use both systems. With the new one I can address directly “the button on east, south, west...In this way I could, for example, write a simple function that activates a UI button after an input action, and define this action directly from a dropdown menu in the inspector. Super convenient! So I set the gamepad buttons for the stages and some menus, to make the navigation easier.I draw and add the graphics for the buttons, using the xbox standard, and this is the result (Youtube Short)I’m happy about the result I obtained, the gameplay feels more enjoyable. If I can give an advice to my past self I would suggest to use the new input system from the begi…

- I made Sound Effect for my Game! - 17 October 2025
This week, I worked on the sound design for the game!I used some free online sound libraries (like Pixabay and Mixkit), and for the sounds I couldn’t find, I recorded them myself. Then, I edited everything in Audacity — combining and tweaking different samples until I got the result I wanted. It’s always surprising how, once you pair certain sounds with visuals, they can feel like something completely different.I also had fun making a few super simple jingles on BeepBox — like a little victory fanfare. Here’s the result! What do you think?
- Localization is here!! - 2 October 2025
Another big milestone for my solo game dev journey: yesterday I finished localizing Drop: Save the Forest into English, Italian, and French! 🇺🇸🇮🇹🇫🇷Building the localization system for the whole game took me more than a week… but once it was in place, adding each new language took less than an hour. Me = very satisfied :’)I started with these 3 languages because they’re the ones I speak, and I really wanted my first game to be accessible. If Final Fantasy IX hadn’t been translated into Italian, I probably wouldn’t have played it—and maybe I’d never have discovered that magical world.Since last night, the demo is available in English, French, and Italian on Steam! Go give it a try and don’t forget to wishlist 😉Auto-publishing the full game is coming very soon ... Stay up to date!
