- Неожиданный хит Steam: игра про пошив платьев обошла Diablo 4 и Control Resonant - 22 September 2026

- After Party Tea - 22 September 2026
Dearest Dressmakers,I cannot express the great relief I feel, but I shall try.As a game developer, I think it’s dangerous to love your game. Believing too strongly in something you’re working on can make you blind to its faults, overly optimistic about its audience and performance, and cause you to spend years of your life on something that cannot sustain you. This has been the downfall of many indie developers: we typically only hear of the ones who have become successful, while countless other games fall into obscurity. But I couldn’t help but love this one. I had always just thought of clothes as fabric to be bought in a store and that didn’t fit quite right. Sabrina taught me that clothes are so much more than that: that clothes tell us about economic activity, technology, culture, social status, politics, stories. That they are incredible feats of engineering and construction, full…
- Dressmaker - Out Now! - 21 September 2026
Dearest Dressmakers,The big day is here, and I hope you all celebrate with wonderful dresses while I hyperventilate in the bathroom. We’ve made a game so devoid of violence, so flagrantly feminine and so painfully sincere that we were swiftly barred from Free Lives’s social media, lest we tarnish their name and cause them to lose their founding membership to the South African Chapter for More Blood in Video Games. In the immediate weeks we’ll be releasing small updates to fix any bugs found since release, with a sprinkling of new fabrics and accessories on top to look forward to.We’ve also begun work on some other exciting content for a chunkier update(s) a little further down the line:An online challenge mode, where you can compare your dress designs with other dressmakers and vote for your favourites.Transparent fabrics that weren’t included in the launch version of the game. Layered t…
- Scalding September Tea: Price Announcement - 7 September 2026
Dearest Dressmakers,Two weeks remain before the big day. I have been snooping around conducting investigative journalism, and have uncovered a very interesting tidbit: the anticipated price is to be $14.99, with regional pricing, and a -10% launch discount! If you’ve heard the whispers about pricing, this is very much on the lower end of speculation – so what’s the catch? Are there microtransactions? Ads? Data harvesting? Is it slop? The odious work of generative AI? You would be forgiven for being suspicious. Many a fashion- or girly-game has sung sweet, siren songs of cozy feel-good theming, hiding the spiny, little teeth of exploitative monetization and dark patterns. We don’t do that.Sadly, the dev team cares too much about petty things like “player satisfaction”, “glowing reviews” and “leaving a positive impact on the world” than they do about much more tangible things like shares, s…
- Dressmaker August Tea - 31 August 2026
Dearest Dressmakers, I have heard jaded rumblings and whispered YouTube comments about how our launch date is 21 September “unless there are delays”. Indeed, if Dressmaker were to delay its launch date, it would not be the first game to do so.But a reliable source tells me that not only will the game's launch date be met, but that the game is already content complete. The credits have been compiled, the ending sequence completed, even open source licenses included and Steam achievement icons painted, with the remaining time being spent on fixing bugs, working on post-launch content, conducting interviews, sneakily adding previously-cut ideas, and writing in-world newsletters on Steam. One developer was even heard saying, “Look, probably nobody even noticed it was broken, but I know, and if enough of these stack up the game feels unpolished.” Fixing bugs that playtesters didn't notice? T…
- Dressmaker July Tea: Launch Date Announcement - 28 July 2026
Dearest Dressmakers,A little pigeon has notified me that our niche indie game now has over 200,000 wishlists! The little pigeon also told me that we finally have a launch date: 21 September 2026!The pigeon couldn't keep its beak shut, and also says that content creators who wish to sign up for an early build to make content under embargo can do so here.Sadly the pigeon was caught and caged before it could reveal any more juicy secrets. But we do have some exciting things to show you! The front desk has gotten a makeover to make it brighter, more open and more colourful. The upside-down 福 character continues to be intentional. We're continuing to work on various UI to try and make the new player experience easier to understand. The ideal is for the UI itself to be intuitive so that tutorializing everything isn't as necessary, especially in case you take a break from the game and forget how…
- Dressmaker Just Hit 100k Wishlists! - 9 June 2026
Dearest Dressmakers,When we first pitched Dressmaker, we were told that the game may be "too niche", that we shouldn't expect much, that we might struggle to find our audience. Well, it is with lifted pinkies, feigned modesty, and the politest smile that we say, "Why yes, we did surpass 100,000 wishlists. How nice of you to notice!"But we most certainly could not have done it alone. We're very grateful to all of the players who took the time to leave detailed comments on the prototype, offered feedback and suggestions and shared screenshots of their dresses! It was your joy and enthusiasm that convinced the holders of purse-strings to give the game the green light. We've grown into a wonderful community of dressmakers sharing their designs on Discord, both from the prototype and the playtest, and also their real-life projects! It's a place where kindness is queen, creativity is in abunda…

- Dressmaker May Tea - 27 May 2026
Dearest Dressmakers,Exciting news! We've been accepted into the June 2026 edition of Wholesome Direct! Tune in on the 6th of June to watch a newly cut trailer showing sneak peaks of some new features, new characters, and a launch date announcement!Otherwise, we've been adding loads more content to the game and refining a lot of the UI. We want the UI to be playful as well as functional, and one of the things that was sorely in need of rework was the fabric inventory. The fabric preview more accurately shows highlights, which is especially important in silk and velvet! We also only show the full name of the fabric when you mouse over it so that you can see more of the fabric itself. Here's a before and after shot:We've been working on a feature where you can create your own dresses to sell off the rack. This means you can take a break from making the more specific commissions for clients…
- Dressmaker April Tea - 15 April 2026
Hi everyone! This will be a rather lengthy post to catch you up on what we've been busy with in Dressmaker. There's a lot that's changed in the months since we last updated the prototype! All bodies are unique, and standardised sizing is a myth! In a game about making bespoke clothing, it was important to us to show that clothes should be made to fit the body, and not the other way around! Each character is measured (in a simplified way, compared to real-life measuring) and the mannequin adjusted to fit their measurements. The pattern pieces are drafted according to the person’s measurements. We also wrote some new custom shaders to make fabrics look more distinct. Silks and velvets have different kinds of shininess, and there’s the possibility for other niche "fabrics" like sequins. The prototype had a lot of quick UI: it was functional for a prototype, but we wanted things to have a lot m…
