• 🚙 No Roads is Now Running on Unreal Engine 5.8! - 19 September 2026

  This is a semi-big update behind the scenes. ⚙️ No Roads has officially been migrated from Unreal Engine 5.5 to Unreal Engine 5.8, the latest production version of Unreal Engine. I was a little hesitant to move forward with this one because engine upgrades can sometimes cause unexpected problems throughout a project. Fortunately, the migration went much smoother than expected and only a few systems needed repairs afterward. 🔧 What Changed 🛞 Adjustments to the Traction UI ⚙️ Several smaller fixes and cleanup items 🎮 Very minor changes to vehicle handling and behavior from the newer engine version 📈 Some differences in overall performance and rendering 🧰 Additional optimization and adjustment work is already underway Moving to a newer engine version also changes some things under the hood, so I’ll continue tuning No Roads as I see how the new version performs across different systems…

• Traction & Stuck Detection Update - 16 September 2026

  🛞 New Traction Indicator! You can now see the traction status of all four wheels in real time! The new HUD indicator makes it much easier to see how much grip each tire has while you’re climbing, crawling, or pushing through difficult terrain. 🟢 Green = Good traction 🟡 Yellow = Losing traction 🔴 Red = Poor traction I’ve also made some improvements to how the Jeep handles getting stuck. This should help with those strange situations where the Jeep seemed to think it was stuck even though nothing obvious was stopping it. Hopefully this makes tackling tough terrain feel a little smoother and more predictable. If you still run into any unusual stuck situations, let me know!

  A small behind-the-scenes process update resulted in roughly a 20% FPS improvement during testing. 🏁 Also fixed a glitch that could prevent your final score from uploading to the Steam Leaderboards. More improvements are on the way. Thanks for playing No Roads!

• Smoother Controls Are Coming to No Roads - 22 June 2026

  I’ve delayed the latest No Roads update a bit because I decided the HUD and menu controls needed more attention.What started as a HUD improvement has turned into a bigger interface rebuild. I’m basically remaking the button and menu systems so the game can smoothly transition between mouse, keyboard, and Xbox controller without feeling clunky or inconsistent.It has been a lot to learn and develop, but I think it will be worth it. The goal is to make the menus feel much cleaner and more natural no matter how you choose to play.So far, the Main Menu is working with the new interface setup. Hopefully, now that the core routine is figured out, it will be much easier to carry the same system into the other menus.Wish me luck!Keep Trek’in.

  I have some cool No Roads news.I’ve been working on the new level options, and they are now in and working great. The big ones are:🌙 Time of Day Night Mode has been expanded into 4 different times of day, so each map can have a slightly different feel and challenge.🌦️ Weather Options Weather is now working with:Clear Foggy Rain Storm🔁 Reverse Mode Reverse Mode lets you take on the same map from the opposite direction. It sounds simple, but some areas feel completely different when you are climbing what used to be a downhill section, or trying to descend something you normally powered up.I’m in the bug testing stage now and plan to upload a beta version soon for anyone who wants to try it through the Steam beta settings for No Roads.I also want to spend a little extra time making the ground more slippery when it rains.   Thank you all for trying my game. It's super satisfying to see the Leaderboards getting popoulated. The wishlists are growing too! Over 10x what was there just last week. Awesome!   Releasing the demo of No Roads: 4x4 Off-Road Challenge 5 minutes for Steam Next Fest! See game and promo video: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4154250/No_Roads_4x4_OffRoad_Challenge/ It was tough getting it out the door because we kept losing power for the past four days. I ended up having about four hours to work across three days instead of the 28 hours I had planned. Oh well. It’s done — and done is better than perfect. Hopefully it brings in a ton of wishlists. There is more work to do but it's nearly complete. I need to add in the other vehicles and clean up some minor glitches. Do some more optimization. And add a Cheats menu.
