• Update 1.1.0 — Barter with Goods & Coin - 26 July 2026

  New: Barter with goods AND coin Some customers now sweeten a deal by throwing in a free item alongside their coins. Haggle them down, close the deal, and the bonus item drops straight into your inventory. Smarter haggling The haggle slider zooms in as you and the customer close the gap, so prices no longer feel cramped in the wealthier districts. A gold marker shows the customer's current offer at a glance. Your opening ask now starts a little higher in the early districts. Customers react to your offers — a frown when you push too hard, a nod when your price is fair. A livelier market Customers greet you and share rumors about tomorrow's prices as they arrive — now collected in a new rumor journal. Fixes & polish Fixed coins lost on large multi-item sales. Smoothed out several haggling edge cases. Cleaned up garbled text throughout the game. Thanks for playing, and happy trading!

• Hotfix: Launch Error Fixed - 19 July 2026

  A quick hotfix for today's update: some players got a "Missing game executable" error when launching the game after updating. That's fixed now. If the game still won't start, restart Steam or right-click the game > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for your patience!

• Update: UI & Bartering Improvements - 19 July 2026

  An update on Merchant's Rise. This was my first game on Steam and it's still rough around the edges. I hope people have found it enjoyable, and I plan to slowly start making updates and adjustments. This update includes some basic UI changes along with bartering mechanic tweaks and minor code improvements: Language can now be changed directly from the main menu (the startup language screen is gone) The haggling slider now shows the customer's current offer in gold and zooms in as you negotiate Customers react to your offers and no longer make confusing counter-offers on multi-item orders Fixed coins being lost on multi-item sales, plus other small fixes If you have any concerns or recommendations, please visit the portlypoetgaming subreddit and leave a comment.
