- An Important Update on Sprint City’s Development & Future Plans - 24 July 2026
Hey Runagades,We want to share an honest update regarding where Sprint City currently stands, the challenges we are facing, and the direction we are taking moving forward. When we launched into Early Access, our vision for Sprint City was heavily centered around an expansive open-world hub where players could seamlessly run into each other, explore together, and start races naturally. However, designing a game around a bustling open world relies heavily on having a high volume of concurrent online players. Without that critical mass, the open world structure can feel confusing, lonely, and counterintuitive, especially for solo players trying to get into the action quickly. The reality is that sales and funding have not reached the levels we had hoped for. Because of this, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to scale down our development operations. We originally hoped we’d be in a po…

- Powerups Explained Part 2 | Dev Blog #5 - 19 March 2026
Wassup Runagades,Last time we talked about some of the powerups available in Sprint City… but not all of them.So... let’s fix that!Just like the other powerups, everything here can be charged up near Tesla Cubes to make them stronger and longer lasting. Let’s get into it!!Sometimes the smartest move is just not getting hit. The Shield protects you from the chaos other Runagades throw your way.Rockets, ice beams, pigeons, the shield blocks them ALL while it’s active.Charge it longer and it simply lasts longer. The Boxing Gloves are not to punch other Runagades with. Activate them and you’ll launch forward with a boost, smashing through obstacles and barriers in your path.Charge them longer and the boost becomes stronger and lasts longer, letting you punch your way through sections of the track that would normally slow you down.If you’re running a time trial, this is the only powerup avail…
- Powerups Explained Part 1 | Dev Blog #4 - 12 March 2026
Alright Runagades,Racing fast is great and all, but sometimes the real strategy is making sure the other players don’t.That’s where powerups come in. You can grab them by picking up the gacha balls around town. You may have also noticed other Runagades running past those strange blue cubes. Those are Tesla Cubes. They were originally built to power Sprint City’s electric grid by harvesting the kinetic energy of citizens constantly moving through the city.As it turns out, Runagades discovered the cubes can also be used to charge their items. In Sprint City, every powerup can be charged before you use it. Spend some time near a Tesla Cube and your item will become stronger, bigger, or just a lot more annoying for everyone else on the track.Let’s start with a few of the tools you can use to cause some trouble.Ever wanted to turn another Runagade into a popsicle mid-race?The Ice Beam lets you…

- Take your time in a Time Trial | Dev Blog #3 - 30 January 2026
Helloooo Runagades,You all know who it issss! Gary D. Tour, back with another update from the streets of Sprint City.I hope you’re all doing well. I’ve already spotted the first few of you tearing through the city this week, and honestly… watching you fly by has been incredible!!Last time, we talked about Clockout. Today, I want to tell you more about what you can do in Sprint City when you’re not racing seven other Runagades to survival. Not every race needs explosions, knockouts, or other players breathing down your neck.Sometimes, you just want to go fast. That’s where Time Trials / Practice Mode come in.Time Trials are Sprint City’s solo point-A-to-point-B races, designed for runners who want to perfect their movement and really get to know the city. You start at Point A. You finish at Point B. How you get there is entirely up to you. If you need a bit of guidance, there’s a handy rout…
- Racing against the clock | Dev Blog #2 - 16 January 2026
Hey Runagades,Gary D. Tour here again, back with another peek at life in Sprint City.Today I want to introduce you to one of the most well-known (and most nerve-wracking) game modes Sprint City has to offer: Clockout! It’s a racing mode unique to Sprint City, which mixes checkpoint time trials, with knockouts, with battle royale. I’m not kidding! So, how does Clockout work?Every Runagade starts a Clockout race with a 10-second timer. As soon as the first player completes the first lap, everyone else’s timer immediately starts counting down. When you cross the finish line, whatever time you have left on your clock is what you carry into the next lap. Lap after lap, the pressure builds. Timers get tighter. Mistakes get expensive. When a Runagade’s clock hits zero, they’re out! Simple as that. The race continues until only one runner remains.Where do you start?I can tell by the way you’re rea…

- Building Sprint City | Dev Blog #1 - 27 December 2025
Hey Runagades,Gary D. Tour here.Today we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at some of the construction sites of Sprint City. What you’ll see below are early work-in-progress images, alongside a few shots of what these areas currently look like in-game. Think of it as a small guided tour through the city while it’s still being built.Let’s start with a look at the Plaza District. This one’s tricky. Plaza is meant to be a central, lively space. Somewhere Runagades cross paths constantly. The challenge, as I’ve learned, is finding an art style that feels alive without getting in your way when you’re moving at full speed. You don’t want to miss a jump because a billboard caught your eye.The early mock-ups show how the team experimented with shapes, colors, and depth, trying to figure out what looks good while staying readable when you’re sprinting at full speed. Below, you can see how those…

Yes, right now. Yes, with sound. Yes, full screen.I’ve been following the scene for years, and today I’m super excited to get to share something groundbreaking: Sprint City is officially announced, and it’s coming to Early Access in 2026. Okay. Are you breathing? Do you feel that tingling in your legs? Congratulations!! That’s your sprint gene activating! Now, what is Sprint City, you ask? Sprint City is a competitive 2D platformer set in a solarpunk metropolis where wheels never caught on, but momentum absolutely did. People here grew up mastering movement itself; the rooftops, the rails, even the alleys are built with that in mind. Everything you see in the city is shaped to keep a run going or…
