🎮 Fixed Steam Deck crash at 20% loading (both new games and saved runs) Huge thanks to the community member who helped us track this one down! After a lot of back-and-forth troubleshooting, a player noticed the screen would briefly flicker or black out right at the 20% loading mark — right before the crash. That observation turned out to be the key to finding the real cause. What was actually going wrong: The game has an options menu (for resolution, display mode, vsync, etc.) that gets quietly loaded in the background both on the main menu AND in the in-game pause menu. Every time this options menu was created — even while hidden — it would re-apply your display settings, which tells your monitor/compositor to reshuffle the window mode. On most hardware, this caused a brief, mostly-harmless screen flicker you might not even notice. But on Steam Deck, doing this in the middle of a scen…
- Bug Fixes - 19 April 2026
🎮 Fixed crash when loading a saved run on Steam Deck (and other controller-based setups) We tracked down a crash that would happen at the 20% loading screen when resuming a saved game using a gamepad or the Steam Deck's built-in controls. Here's what was going on: When you'd use the analog stick to scroll to "Resume Run" and press A to select it, the game would remember that the stick was being held in a direction. While the loading screen was doing its thing, the game kept trying to send those stick inputs to the menu buttons behind the scenes — even as those menu buttons were being removed to make room for the actual game world. The game was essentially trying to talk to something that no longer existed, which caused it to crash every time. If you happened to use a mouse click instead of the controller to start the load, the crash wouldn't happen — because mouse clicks don't trigger…
- Steamdeck Loading fix - 18 April 2026
Bug Fixes Fixed crash when resuming a saved run on Steam Deck and other AMD APU devices. The game could become unresponsive during the loading screen when loading a saved game, causing the OS to terminate the process. Save loading now processes map and enemy data incrementally, keeping the game responsive throughout. Loading bar now animates during save file restoration. Previously, the progress bar would freeze between 50%-85% while loading a saved run. Players will now see smooth progress updates as map tiles and enemies are restored.

- Texplore v0.7.2 - Hotfix - 7 April 2026
Crash Fix - Steam Deck / Integrated GPU Fixed a crash when starting a new run or resuming a save. The game would hang at 20% ("Entering world...") and then crash to desktop with no error message. This primarily affected Steam Deck users but could occur on other systems with integrated AMD graphics. The tutorial was unaffected by this issue. Fixed an additional crash caused by UI animations still running during the scene transition

I also fixed the skill tree by making the default zoom level show the entire tree and separated the dep earth tree that will be coming in the future! Oh and added a button to fit zoom so its quick to view the whole tree again.
- Texplore - Patch Notes: Steam Deck UI Optimization - 5 April 2026
Steam Deck Improvements Improved Steam Deck Detection: The game now uses the official Steam API (isSteamRunningOnSteamDeck()) to reliably detect Steam Deck hardware, rather than guessing based on screen resolution. This means docked Deck users (playing on a TV at 1080p) are correctly identified, and desktop users with a 1280x800 window are no longer falsely treated as Deck. Removed Gamepad Prompt on Steam Deck: Steam Deck users will no longer be asked to choose between "Use Gamepad" or "Use Keyboard/Mouse" on first launch. The game automatically defaults to gamepad mode on Deck and remembers this preference permanently. Fixed Aspect Ratio Distortion: Resolved a subtle vertical stretch that occurred on Steam Deck's 16:10 display (1280x800). The game now uses expand stretch mode, which shows slightly more of the world vertically without any distortion or letterboxing, while preserving the…

- Bug Fixes! - 23 March 2026
Bug Fixes Smelter UI: Fixed an issue where the "Collect All" button in the Earth Smelter and Moon Smelter could become unreachable when many bars were pending collection. The collect section now scrolls properly when it exceeds the available space. Arena Fixes Fixed: Weapons (cannon, laser, railgun, etc.) could destroy arena tiles, breaking the arena layout mid-fight. Arena tiles are now indestructible. Fixed: Entering the arena would reset the player to only having the cannon. Players now carry all unlocked weapons, upgrade levels, equipped armor, equipped arrows, skill tree progress, and hotbar layout into the arena. The player now enters the arena at full health with all stats properly calculated from their upgrades.

Performance Monitoring (Internal) Added a built-in performance monitoring system that helps us track game health during long play sessions This runs silently in the background and reports metrics like FPS trends, node counts, and memory usage Helps us identify and fix performance issues faster — no impact on your gameplay 🐛 Bug Fix: Long Session Performance Degradation Fixed a memory leak in the debris particle system that caused FPS to gradually drop during extended play sessions Previously, rock/ore debris particles were being stored indefinitely instead of properly cleaned up, causing the game to slow down the longer you played Debris particles are now correctly recycled and removed when no longer needed You should no longer need to restart the game to restore performance after long sessions
