- The Human Iron Age Is Ready — and That’s Not All! - 13 September 2026
Development of Empires Edge continues to gain momentum. Over the past few weeks, we’ve finished the artwork for the Human Iron Age, bringing a new set of buildings and the next stage of civilization development. At the same time, we’ve completely reworked the start of the game. Before a mission begins, you can now choose the mission, your race, your starting location on the island, and the difficulty level — whenever the scenario allows those options. We’re also continuing major work on the AI: opponents are getting better at developing their islands, recovering from losses, building armies, and planning attacks. Alongside that, the game keeps receiving many smaller improvements — from animated water and new sounds to an updated interface.Step by step, Empires Edge is becoming the RTS we want it to be. And there’s still much more to come ❤️
- Festival and Playtest Results - 27 August 2026
Over the course of the one-week playtest, 120 people played the game and 49 left feedback. The average rating was 7.6/10, and 90% said they would like to play the next version. More than 900 people wishlisted the game in 5 days, bringing the total to 4,500+ wishlists since development began. The feedback showed exactly what I was hoping for: players who remember Mega Lo Mania recognize that same spirit in Empires Edge. At the same time, people who never played the original also responded positively, which tells me the core mechanics work on their own.I noticed one funny thing. After taking some earlier feedback on board, I allowed players to access the missions without completing the second tutorial. Almost everyone finishes the first tutorial, but many simply skip the second one, even though it explains several important mechanics. As a result, about half of the “the game never explaine…
- 0.2.22. Hotkeys - 24 August 2026
In this update, I added full hotkey customization. You can now rebind keyboard keys and mouse buttons in the Controls tab. Most actions support both a primary and a secondary binding, and you can apply changes, cancel them, or restore the default settings. The game also checks for binding conflicts and prevents the use of reserved keys. Your selected controls are saved and remain after restarting the game.If you notice that an action cannot be rebound, works incorrectly, or something is missing from the controls menu, please let me know.
- Empires Edge Playtest is open now! - 17 August 2026
Hey everyone! The moment I’ve been looking forward to is finally here: the first closed playtest of Empires Edge is now open! The playtest will be available throughout this week.I’ve prepared 2 tutorial missions to make your first steps into the game as smooth as possible, followed by 5 full missions. The main goal of this playtest is to understand how well the core of Empires Edge works: whether developing your islands, building an economy, raising armies, and capturing new territories is fun and engaging. I also want to see how clear everything feels to players and uncover any issues I may not notice myself.Throughout the week, I’ll be actively reading your feedback and releasing updates. So please let me know what you enjoyed, as well as anything that felt confusing, frustrating, or simply not fun.Thank you so much for your support and interest in Empires Edge. Your feedback genuinely h…
- Major AI Overhaul, New Attack Window, and the Orcs’ Bronze Age - 9 August 2026
Hi everyone!A lot has changed in Empires Edge over the past few weeks. Most of the recent development has been focused on rebuilding the computer-controlled opponents and preparing the AI for much deeper improvements in future updates.Alongside that work, the game has received a new interface for attacking enemy islands, new Bronze Age content for the Orcs, faction flags, and a number of smaller fixes and improvements.New AI ArchitectureThe AI has been almost completely moved to a new decision-making system. This is a major internal overhaul that will serve as the foundation for further development of the computer-controlled opponents. However, the AI behavior itself is still far from finished. Future updates will focus on significantly improving its economy, development of captured islands, military decisions, and behavior during longer matches.ArmyThe military side of the AI has also r…
- 3,000 Wishlists — Thank You! - 4 July 2026
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your support.Good news: the playtests are showing good results on the test levels. We’ve made 2 tutorial levels, and now it’s much easier and clearer to get into the game.Thank you for your feedback. It really helps improve the game and motivates us to make updates more often. We’ve also made good progress on optimization. A special thanks to everyone who shared performance metrics and helped us check how the game runs on different PCs.The next goal is to add a few more test missions and invite more people to the playtest. If you like the game and the idea behind it, please recommend it to your friends or to any content creators you know. It would really help the project.
- New Trailer, Bronze Age, and Other Updates - 19 June 2026
Hi friends! We’ve done a lot of work on the game this month. First of all, we updated the trailer. We tried to make it clearer and more interesting, so that from the very first seconds it’s easier to understand what Empires Edge is about.I’d be really grateful for your feedback: what do you think of the new trailer? Is the game clearer now? Maybe you have any ideas on what could still be improved? We also finished drawing the full Bronze Age for the human faction and added the transition from one era to another. Right now we’re working on the balance of the first two eras and collecting feedback from our first playtesters. For now, unfortunately, we’re only giving access to a small number of players. The game is still in active development, and we don’t want this early version to be perceived as the final experience. Once we’re confident that the test missions are stronger, clearer in term…
- Closed Playtest and Updated UI/UX - 18 May 2026
Hi friends!Over the past month, we’ve been actively working on the UI/UX of the main game. The goal was simple: to make the interface clearer, more convenient, and more enjoyable to use. Thank you to everyone who has already shared feedback. It really helps us spot weak points and improve the game step by step.Right now, we’re expanding the closed playtest very carefully and adding players gradually, roughly one person after each update. Since the game doesn’t have a full tutorial yet, it’s important for us to get feedback from people who are willing to explore an early version calmly and are not afraid of the game being in a raw state. Once the tutorial is added, we’ll be able to invite more players. The main goal at this stage is to make the first level as fun and understandable as possible. We want players not only to figure out the mechanics, but also to enjoy the game from the very…
- 2,000 wishlists, thank you all! - 6 May 2026
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your support! It means a lot to me, and it shows that we’re moving in the right direction. And so far, you’ve only seen screenshots from the Stone Age and a short teaser. Just imagine what it will look like when all the eras are drawn and the full trailer is ready! There are still so many exciting updates and adventures ahead.Right now, the main focus is the core loop. The goal is to reach the point where the mission itself feels fun, engaging, and exciting to play. That moment is already getting close. After that, the game will start growing wider, with more content, more systems, and more variety. For now, I’m carefully running a closed playtest with people who are interested in the genre and understand it well. Once the tutorial is added and the UI/UX is improved, the playtest will become more active and open to a wider audience.See you soon in the nex…
- From the Stone Age to the Future - 1 May 2026
We’ve finalized the visual style of each era for the human race and want to show how the civilization will evolve from the Stone Age to the Future.Right now, our main goal is to create all the key infrastructure buildings for each era, prepare the units, and define their unique traits. At the same time, we’re continuing to work on the balance, so that progressing through the eras feels like more than just a visual change and has a real impact on gameplay. If the project resonates with players, we’re ready to expand it further. We already have ideas for new eras and other races: orcs, dwarves, elves, and undead. But for now, we’re focused on humans, so we can test the core of the game sooner, bring the main mechanics to a solid state, and launch a closed playtest.Thank you for your interest and support. It truly inspires us and helps us keep moving forward.
- New camera mode - 19 April 2026
I just felt like adding it. This camera mode does not affect gameplay or provide any gameplay advantage, but I thought it would be a nice way to freshen up the usual view and let players watch the island’s development simulation from a different perspective.Development is moving forward, and here are some of the recent changes and improvements:The waterside farm now produces food 20% fasterUI and UX improvements are currently in progressAdded resource gathering animations above buildingsReworked the Outpost construction logic and island capture systemAdded visible projectiles for attacking unitsResource gathering speed is now balanced separately for each resource type, making the overall balance more flexibleWhen recruiting an army, units now leave the barracks and move around the island. When attacking another island, they enter the portalThe currently selected island is now highlighte…

Hooray! The Stone Age orc settlement is now fully illustrated. Testing the first missions has become even more exciting. We’re moving on to the next era.Thank you for your interest and support of the project. It’s inspiring!
- Added a Forge and unit upgrades - 1 March 2026
Each race and era now has its own set of Forge upgrades. Upgrades cost resources, including a new one: Knowledge. Knowledge is generated in a new building called the Shaman Hut, creating a clear progression chain: economy → knowledge → military tech. The bonuses apply directly to unit stats and have a real impact on combat formulas.Weighted Clubs — basic damage increase.Siege Tactics — increased damage vs. buildings.Composite Slings — increased attack range + additional damage.Piercing Volley — advanced ranged upgrade (armor penetration / piercing power).Reinforced Armor — baseline armor for combat units.Tempered Armor — stronger defense and increased health pool.Combat Drills — universal tempo upgrade (faster attacks by reducing cooldown). What this means for gameplayThe AI can now build the Forge and Shaman Hut, research upgrades, and use them in combat. It also doesn’t blindly tech ev…
- Building the RTS of my dreams: A nostalgic trip to Empires Edge - 21 February 2026
Welcome to Empires Edge! This project is a cozy RTS at heart, heavily inspired by the 1991 classic Mega Lo Mania. Imagine floating islands in space, evolving through different eras with unique architecture and massive armies. But as development progressed, I found myself adding more and more features that go far beyond the original formula. Not just humans anymoreI wanted the world to feel alive and easy to read, so I’m introducing multiple races. This way, you can tell at a glance who’s captured which island. Right now, I have Humans and Orcs ready, with Elves and Dwarves planned for the future. My goal is to make them play as differently as they look—each faction will have its own "personality," ranging from peaceful builders to aggressive conquerors.Your island, your rulesIn the original game, you were limited to just 4 buildings per era. In Empires Edge, I’ve already pushed that to 12…
