Story Overview A series of mysterious child disappearances strikes a small town. Four children vanish without a trace . That evening, the town office receives a distress call from the former lord’s lakeside mansion — a place three days away on foot, with no record of any travel reaching it . It is as if the children were transported there out of thin air. Worse still, the mansion has long been rumored to be cursed . Ten years ago, everyone who entered it met a strange and tragic end. Investigator Reacher and his assistant Cielle join a rescue team to find the missing children. The team includes the town’s mayor , a town official , a sheriff , a Pastor , a scholar obsessed with the supernatural, and a medium known for flawless divination. As the search unfolds, a member of the rescue team is murdered — yet there is no sign anyone entered or left the mansion. Is the curse real… or is the killer among them? While solving the mansion’s Puzzles and trying to rescue the children, Reacher gradually uncovers the long-buried tragedy hidden beneath the mansion’s dark past.
